Great White Shark Takes Bite at Kelp & Incredible Slow Motion Footage

Despite the cold water temperatures of the winter in Southern California, many white sharks are still found along the coast. In what is probably one of the most unique sequences I've captured thus far, I filmed a large juvenile white shark seemingly biting at floating kelp. It appears to be eating the kelp in a few clips. But why?
Additionally, I share some of my best slow motion footage of the month in 4K resolution.

Same as I remember doing a project in middle school and being so fascinated by them. Still remember the first sentence of that project. “ If there’s such a thing as reincarnation I’d come back as a shark “😂. That was way back in 1988 never lost the fascination and intrigue.

Peter Benchley regretted the dark air JAWS put upon White Sharks, and sharks in general, and spent the rest of his life fighting for sharks and preservation. They are apex predators; all apex predators are intensely dangerous - but they are also majestic, breath taking creatures. There is no animal I love more than the Great White Shark. Your filming of these creatures, and the awe and sheer respect and love in your voice makes me so happy to hear someone talk about them like I would talk about them! Keep these videos coming; you're doing these mysterious, beautiful animals a great service!

@@Playitstraight44 , Yes I absolutely feel bad for his loved ones, but look at the # of wrecks CONSTANTLY, yet we do not tell everyone to stay out of cars and/or off the roads. Same goes for so many other things that harm or kill humans on a daily and even hourly, etc. basis. Sure we should be cautious and be shark aware, but I wouldn't consider people who want to have safe encounters as stupid or dumb. Look at the # of dog attacks AND deaths by dog attacks. You wouldn't consider people who associate with dogs to be ignorant would you? Btw Rick, I am not putting you down by any means. I am just stating some things that you may not have known. The opening with the pelicans against the backdrop of a gorgeous sunset is breathtaking! The Great White footage is mesmerizing as usual. The one playing with the kelp looks massive, especially in width. #MiaSciberra, Someone got killed by a great white in a spot in Australia that nobody had been killed/attacked for 70 years! Yesterday I believe it was. The problem is, it is so rare and people will now build it up to terrify folks even in conditions where it is HIGHLY unlikely. I still feel bad for those who have lost a loved one by shark "mistakes,test bites, etc." or the rare flat out attack, but I just wish people wouldn't lie about HOW they really happen. Bull sharks have surpassed great whites by far in Australia. In #'s and attacks. I would be far more afraid of bull sharks!

@s0ma782
@s0ma782 2 года назад
@MrBoon you should rephrase that, they don’t EAT people, they attack them out of curiosity or confuse them with prey. After attacking and realizing it’s not their prey, they leave the person alone and leave. In most cases, people died due to blood loss. Every year, more people are killed by coconuts than a shark.
@anthonyr587
@anthonyr587 2 года назад
@@s0ma782 Not true. There is a video of a 15ft Great White attacking a swimmer that emerged last week in Sydney, Australia. The shark hits the guy initially from underneath, the swimmer while screaming then tries to swim to the nearby rocks where people are fishing and recording, and the shark keeps repeatedly mauling him before biting him clean in half and his screams go silent. You can see the guys torso floating in the ocean before the shark makes another pass and eats that too. They absolutely DO and will eat people if they are hungry enough. No mistaken identity with this attack, the shark knew damn well after the first hit what it was attacking. I suggest Nol does not watch that video or he wont be going back in the ocean lol.
@s0ma782
@s0ma782 2 года назад
@@anthonyr587 you have a fair point. But they are not like killing machines like people think they are (I am not saying you do too), the shark was probably really hungry and that is why it attacked the person.
