Sold who? Sure you got a haul for Soto but that team was pretty old to begin with. Rendon was a free agent, you weren’t resigning Max to that crazy deal Cohen gave him. Alright I’ll give you Trea Turner, but Ruiz and Gray are solid pieces. Seems to me like the sales brought back a solid core of young guns to work with.
Game 7 of the 2016 World Series is one of the greatest games of baseball ever played. It's got everything. The blowout, the insane comeback, the implosion of the best pitcher in the game, extra innings, and the small ball out that ended the longest drought in the history of professional sports.
Nelson cruz not catching that ball is insane. It's the final out of the WS... you run into the wall catching the ball if you have to. PATHETIC effort with a WS on the line
@mythic_al3611 but it was a 3-0 ALCS comeback to even get to that point. I'd recommend watching the ESPN 30 for 30 "Four Days in October," the story is absolutely insane to look back on.
As a Rays fan watching the Dodgers win the World Series in 2020 and the Phillies win the World Series in 2008 really hurts despite that though we had a couple of really good runs and I hope to see us back in the World Series this year
Without a doubt there are two favorite moments for me since I've been watching the big leagues since 2008: When the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians in the 2016 World Series, after 108 years I was overjoyed when I saw Chicago once again world champion. and in 2019 when the Washington Nationals won the World Series over the Houston Astros in 7 games, for the first time the capital of the United States wins a world series
MIND BLOWING that the 2004 red sox are the only team in MLB history to come from 3-0 down to win a series. MIND BLOWING that it was against the yankees, the leagues greatest franchise MIND BLOWING that it broke an 86 year curse It is by far the greatest sports story ever told.
I wish he reached superstar status, but by the time he went to the Pirates he was kind of forgotten. Still super awesome that he has that 2011 season to live by
@@randallstockton9931 yea even though im sorta a dodger fan with alot of my friends being dodgers friends, I do think that is kind of a mickey mouse ring.
@@randallstockton9931yeah because every team played a full season except the dodgers who were fortunate enough to only have to play 60 games. shut your dumbass up.
As a Red Sox fan and knowing the history of the curse of the bambino and being able to go to St. Louis for game 4 in '04 after watching arguably the greatest comeback in sports history is just a once in a lifetime experience
I think we can absolutely still give the Dodgers for playing one of the best World Series games ever. Under suspicious circumstances they just kept fighting back. Bellinger broke out of his funk in a big way, and Chris Taylor put together one of the greatest at bats in baseball history.
@@mattforbes221 I think both teams deserve a lot of credit in that game. I wasn’t there in person but I’ve watched that game many times and I couldn’t hear a single trash can bang the entire game. I’m sure it’s there, but the crowd is so loud that I’d honestly be shocked if they could hear it. Regardless, both teams put on a great game that will for sure go down as an all-time classic.
I am an Astros fan. When I was watching this game as it was happening, the emotions I went through were unreal. I had no idea what I was witnessing. One of, if not, the best games I've ever watched. But the shine on the game lost a bit of its luster after everything was revealed and the entire community was extremely hurt. People give us crap for saying the things we say defending our team but y'all don't understand how it was when the team's entire existence was mired in futility then we finally broke through. Nobody was more hurt and devastated by what happened than the fan base, especially after hurricane Harvey.
Mostly a great video, so many amazing moments. That said, the fact that the homeruns by Tino Martinez and Scott Brosius in games 4 and 5 of the 2001 World Series weren't included is mind-blowing. Back-to-back nights, down 2 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th in clearly must-win games, and they both hit a 2-run homer to tie the game and keep them in the series - later going on to win both games (one of them on the Jeter homerun shown in the video). I'd never witnessed anything like it before; I still get chills every time I see them. And the only thing I've seen since that compares is game 6 of the 2011 Series (included in the video). Considering some of the other far less important moments included - like a grand slam in the 2nd inning of a game - the exclusion of those season-preserving homeruns, down to the last out on back-to-back nights, is baffling.
that dodgers astros game is what the WS this year will be if its philly vs astros and seeing the nats win in 2019 was amazing to see the cheaters crash and burn and chock like that was the greatest
The royals comeback vs the astros in game 4 of the ALDS in 2015 should be on here. Down like 6-2, with 1 out in the 8th. There were like 4 straight singles and the royals get out of it winning 7-6, and win 9-6
As an Astros fan that was one of the most painful losses. We had the eventual champs down to rights and blew it in spectacular fashion after the Texas governor prematurely congratulated the Astros.
That McCormick Catch in the 2022 World Series changed the series, if he had not made that catch the Phillies could have won the World Series or at least it would have gone to a game 7.
The Braves have been in the playoffs a ton and won their division more than any team in professional sports over the last 30 years including 2 World Series wins and some of the greatest moments in MLB history (even just in 2021 the miracle playoff run!) and the only clip of them you put is a Rafael Furcal walkoff from the 2000s.. LMAO
"Braves... in the playoffs... more than any team in professional sports over the last 30 years..." Who are the DETROIT RED WINGS #DetroitVersusEverybody
@@roygoodhand1301 Sorry you misinterpreted, but I was saying the Braves have won more division titles in the last 30ish (1991-2022) seasons than any team in any professional sport which as you know is true. In terms of playoff appearances, you are correct. Detroit has been 25 times in that span and the Braves have been 22 times in that span. Its actually odd how similar the Braves/Red Wings successful runs are. From 1991-2010 they both won like 14 division titles.
The two greatest baseball games ever played have been played in this century: Tex-Stl and Lad-Hou; you know which games I am talking about; prove me wrong; support your argument with examples and analysis.
I mean, one was a legitimate matchup and the other one was a genuinely great team getting beat by a bunch of cheaters who couldn't have won without that, so I wouldn't put them anywhere close.
@@jordanfry5138 Yeah the whole trash can thumping thing only happened a couple of times tbh so I just chalk it up to overzealous clubhouse mooks. Don't get me wrong, I am a Nats fan, so my favorite saying is "Bang Foul Poles, Not Trash Cans", but I really don't think the scandal had anything to do with the absolute epic nature of the game vs the Dodgers that I referenced. There were certainly no examples of cheating that were pulled from that game. And let's be sober about sign-stealing in the first place...it has been going on since there have been signs passed between catchers and pitchers, so like, since the late 1800's. This was just the latest and most egregious example.
2016 game 7. Two teams that hadn’t won a WS in over 70 years, both having some of the longest championship droughts in professional sports history, and the fact that is was a one run, extras, game seven win makes it all the better. Prove ME wrong
My favorite moment in recent history, being a Phillies fan, is Bryce Harper sending us to the 2022 World Series with the most important HR of the season.
The person who made this is obviously a huge Astros fan. Every 3rd clip or so was Houston... For a team that only has 2 WS rings in history, that's alot.
Should have shown Reggie Jackson strike out to end the game in 78. I still see clips of my young self jumping up and down when ever I see highlights of that.
"Excellent mix, I was hooked with your lead entry. Thank you.. I particularly enjoyed your black and white inclusions. Most such mixes tend to be too-recently biased or show the usual suspects. Substituting Henrich, in '49 for smething from '47, and highlighting Rhodes rater than Willie in '54 was inspired. Is that Gil McDougald's Grand Slam in the Polo Grounds? It is not Tony Lazzeri. Mickey's 1964 Game 3 walk-off belongs. Having shown several Grand Slams, following Mantle's Game 3, Ken Boyer. Boyer's Game 4 Grand Slam would have been a nice touch. It was the "Hit of the Series" although BBReference listsTom Tresh's HR in the next game, won by McCarver's extra-inning game winner.) (I'm prejudice. From St Louis, I was thirteen years old, sitting with my Dad in the bleachers at Sportsman's Park for Game 7. Mantle's last WS home run landed a few sections away. So did Boyers' both Kan and Clete as the only brothers to homer in the same WS game.) I've lived in the Bay Area since 1978. Joe Rudi's catch was fun. Speaking of Grand Slams, Will Clark off Greg Maddux in Wrigley during the 1987 NLCS is worthy. (He had a great NLCS.) Travis Ishikawa belongs. The double play start by Joe Panik paved the way for Bumgarner's historic performance. But the double play was historic as being the first World Series managerial replay challenge (and winner). That is merely my opinion and Nit picking. You did yourself proud. Thank you, again"
The DOdgers should have won the 2017 and 2018 World Series. Also the Brewers should have beaten the nationals in the 2019 wild card game. Houston always has a problem in the playoffs.
No Eddie Rosario tearing up the Dodgers, or back-to-back walkoffs in the 2021 NLCS, or Soler's moonshot in the World Series? Obviously I'm a biased Braves fan but what lmao
