Nah, coz that would've meant that they'd still actually have to put in some actual fucking effort and _MAKE SOMETHING!_ The Overwatch devs don't want to put any effort in, they just want to pump out another colour-swapped skin and charge you $25
For $250 US, you can get: • Almost 140 taco bell tacos • Markiplier's tactical shovel, with about $40 left over • A llama, from a llama rental at $150/hr • 4 copies of Luigi's Mansion 3 • Two pairs of eight inch heeled thigh-high vegan leather stripper boots • A rentable boyfriend for about 3 hours in Japan • A literal opal necklace from Kohls • 16 pairs of Hanes ecosmart sweatpants • a puppy

@@blinkerz4676 I never said it was bill gates' money. I looked up what you could buy for $250 instead of a game DLC. I'd personally really rather rent the llama.
Just comparing it to other video games is enough to make it ridiculous tbh. For $250 you can buy all the Dark Souls games with their DLCs, Elden Ring, _and_ Hollow Knight and you would _still_ have $10 left over. And that's full release price with no discounts of course.
I love how the developer, Nikita, gets on a podcast with Pestily and says his plan for the future of tarkov not including any pay to win elements and keeping it all purely as cosmetics and whatnot and not even 2 weeks later rolls out this crock of dogwater.

Prices of such adoption may also be expensive atleast in germany since alot of brainrotted owners dont clean their dogs shit so normal owners also get taxed for that.

Yeah- They wont be releasing any DLCs hehe- Though they didnt need to include that statement- atleast say first DLC free- rest as normal or discounted... they would make more money as discounted priced wrongful marketing
I'm a lead dev for a small indie game studio that has a small live service game. This is the worst attempt at overblown monetization for a game expansion that I've seen this year. There is no game DLC or expansion that is worth 250$. I feel badly for the community manager here, they're going to be used as a scape goat. It's higher up management that have made this call and so the community manager can either defend it and keep their job or call it out as what it is and lose their job, they don't really have a choice or a say. To put it simply, your players are never stupid. If they like your game enough they'll buy into many things, but any promise you made to your players at any point you will be expected to keep. It takes 1 misstep, 1 wrong thing said, or 1 poorly thought out plan executed to completely and permanently destroy any level of trust your players had and cause them to leave the community without second chance. If you as a developer or staff member for the studio are having to sit there and make excuses for something, or try to place specific labels onto things to try to make your community separate it, the people you are trying to convince will catch on to what you're trying to do and they'll no longer trust your word. I know first hand that maintaining that trust and relationship with your community is never an easy task and requires a lot of sacrifice on your part that they will never see or understand and it will likely go forever unsaid and unacknowledged, but that's something that comes with the territory if you want a loyal customer base. The game studios that are highly acclaimed and have loyal supporters are in that position because they genuinely care about keeping their word and they demonstrate this by consistently delivering upon it.

the worst part is, this sets a precedent for other game companies. AAA games have gone up $60 to $70, so now that a DLC has gone for $250, ultimate editions of games are gonna probably be more expensive
EFT has always had a high price range, its not like they have been selling the game for 30 bucks and all of a sudden released this 250 dollar bundle. (I went to their site to confirm and saw that they even upped the base, lowest price to play the game to $50. When I first bought the game, it was $40...) They have always been greedy, I'm more surprised at the fact that they haven't gotten flak for it much sooner. Them not getting criticism is probably the reason they thought this shit would fly with the community.

Best alternatives for tarkov : -Hunt Showdown -Vigor -Deep Rock Galactic (PvE) -Marauders -Dark and Darker Have fun , personally i can recommend : Vigor , Deep Rock Galactic and Hunt Showdown !!!
Not a 100 dollars 150 dollars. And almost all of us who got into tarkov, eventually ended up buying to support the game. And BSG have scammed us. Literally committing crimes. This shit is fucking wild.
My biggest complaint about this whole thing is that when I first bought the game their roadmap said they planned on putting a singleplayer/co-op campaign in the game from the start. Now they are taking that and trying to sell it as a new feature.
as someone who bought EOD maybe 4-5 year ago now, as someone who has played tarkov thru multiple gameplay altering changes and unplayable bugs, this is truly the nail in the coffin for BSG. their PR team cannot pull them out of this one.

Every single person that would say, “$70 isn’t that bad, and it’s completely reasonable for a AAA game. I love the billion dollar company more than my fellow man” is at fault for this.
This. The game's still in beta. You'd assume any features and game modes added before 1.0 release would be considered part of the base game, not even DLC. By all current standards in game development, TECHNICALLY the base, $50 game owners should have access to it, as the game's still in development.

One thing that is not being talked about enough. BSG Updated their TOS in February 2024, which removed a clause that would allow for customers to pursue a refund in the event the game did not receive an official launch. This tells me that they were prepared that this might tank the game completely, and wanted an escape plan.
The writing has been on the wall for a while if you take a step back and look at it objectively. A couple RU-vidrs have done deep dives on their finances and they make terrible monetary decisions like arena and big extravagant events and I think they were really banking on arena being wildly popular and bring in a bunch of players and then they could slowly dribble in micro transactions ( which is something Nikita has said multiple times would never happen) their gamble failed miserably and this might be the final nail in the coffin if they don’t make it free for EoD players and drop that price by at least 100-150$. This might be their final cash grab before they abandon the project for good.
@@brettsteuart if they had a stronger hand in anti cheat and straight up banning people, arena could've been better, plus the PVE can EASILY bring back many people. But no, they didn't just shoot themselves in the foot, they took a goddamn grenade launcher to it.
Just because they removed that from their TOS doesn't effect anyone who agreed to it when the verbiage was in the TOS when they purchased the game. If they attempt to enforce that change on legacy players then they are acting in bad faith and open themselves up for even more litigation. Either way, I think we just witnessed the fastest self implosion from a company ever.

@@silberlung3440 you do realize this is an MMO right? One with very little recurring purchases. So if this is how they initially monetize access to that PvE server that’s on them. They can’t make it free to everyone who already owns the game, they can’t afford that. Eventually at some point when Nikita realizes Russia 2028 will have to get renamed before he gets to work on it he’ll consolidate that into a single player expansion for tarkov. Probably a little bit after the full game is out and you can buy the exclusive single player edition for like 40 dollars. Financing a game like this is rough, BSG have a lot on their plate.
