I use BOTH. Butter on the outside because it's better at that. Mayo on the inside. My mayo of choice is Japanese Kewpie mayo, and Kerrygold is a great butter, but I am from the midwest and prefer Tillamook Sea Salt butter. Why not both? You decide... time for another video. Thanks for all you do.
Great comparison Mike! You can't go wrong with grilled cheese anyway BUT, I tried mayo one time a couple years ago, my daughter liked it my son, wife and I thought it was gross. To each their own right? My daughter also likes jelly on her grilled cheese, I tried it once, not bad. But I will always use butter, no mayo. Have a great weekend brother 👍👍
I must say the grilled cheeses look amazing and you did a great job in your preparation but from the beginning when you talked about using that Irish cream butter I already knew it was going to win. That butter I believe wasn't designed for the use of grilled cheese because of the price but if you can afford it that's fine I wish you would have used a regular butter that everybody goes to like Land O'Lakes butter salted on salted but I enjoyed this video very much
Hay Big Cat I wonder you know there is a lot of people out here in this world that loves the ranch dressing I wonder what a good grilled cheese just like the way you made it with ranch would turn out the flavor maybe you can try that one day bro I have never seen it anywhere else I love your channel man I was going to pass your video up a little bit ago and I changed my mind and I'm glad I did you're one cool dude bro that gives us the real deal here you go I love that about you man it don't have to be perfect which a lot of your stuff is hope you have a kick-ass fourth of July weekend my brother I know you will be cooking some good stuff 💯💪🏾💪🏾❤️👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🌍🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽😎👊🏽💨💥🤙🏽

What's up Big Cat butter no mayo on my grill cheese Sandwich. I like Gouda"Cheese, Munster Cheese and Age New York Sharp Cheeder Cheesw,I combine those 3 cheeses to make my grill cheese sandwich. I prefer to go to someone where like whole foods Trader Joe's or Wegmans to buy my Cheese better Quality Cheese than going to a regular supermarket also I use nonsalt butter.

Hey Mike this was a great comparison video and I’m glad I got to see it. I’ve used both but not those brands. I’ve heard really good things about the Kerrygold and I need to go back to using that again. I think if you like the tang of the mayo, then obviously use that but it is very hard to beat a good quality butter when you’re doing grilled cheese. I absolutely love the idea of the double decker!! Great job and always a pleasure to see you cook.
WOW after reading your comment I realized I should have done a third one with mayo on one half and butter on the other half... Thanks Oh Bearded one...
I'm glad you agree. I started off this video absolutely knowing that the extra buttery taste of a good butter wins every time versus mayo, and I was afraid that you wouldn't catch it for a second. ;)
I have had a peanut butter and grape jelly/jam sandwich with three slices of sandwich bread! ^_^ It was good! :D I hope to try a pan-fried cheese sandwich with three slices of toasted sandwich bread someday! :D
I find the mayo leave a little tang which I like over butter, however Kerrygold butter is hard to beat it compliments the dairy of the cheese. I prefer the mayo but I will never turn down one with cheese. But never done a side by side taste test. I guess I will have to put the mayo vs butter test for myself. I have also done it with mustard it great with a grilled ham and swiss cheese sandwich it was a great option. I have also mixed mayo and Dijon mustard together then applied it to grilled sandwiches with great results. Also like your double decker grilled cheese combo have to make one of those very soon. America for the gooey and the jack and cheddar for the deeper cheese flavor. I could see trying various cheese combinations as well to test the flavor profiles.
Thanks Rick!! I definitely recommend the side by side taste test, it was eye opening. Also, I have mixed Dijon with Mayo before and always said they should sell this (which I think they do now), it's awesome. And, the double decker was insanely good. Give it a shot!!!
Awesome comparison Mike, thought of trying mayo at one time but never did. You just made my mind up to stay with butter. May have to try that Irish butter. Thanks buddy and great video!
