As well as Cornifer’s snoring, Zote’s mumbling, the accordion and Sly rummaging through his money in the basement. Also I’m surprised the elderbug hasn’t had a heart attack lmao
Absolutely love how his theme dynamically changes when he does his, as people are affectionately calling it, pufferfish attack. The drums and guitar really make dodging the attack a lot more fun and intense.
true, I noticed another thing too, the more waltz like pattern of 6/8 in that theme emphasizes how much of a dance it really is too. I still have yet to beat him, but watching others, I noticed how much of a pinpoint dance it really is. It's insane how they got that exact, with the first one being more of a show dance, but the second being a no-mistake dance.
The first fight is a civilized dance. He even bows to you. The second fight is fighting the nightmare itself, there's no breathing room for you to enjoy. The music is filled with oppression and extreme anxiety.
Sunflower chamber: what kind of instruments do you want for the grimm troupe? Christopher Larkin: electric guitar, piano, and violin Makes the grimm troupe theme with all those combined
JC Jackson What is a Grimmkin!? Nothing but a miserable pile of nightmares and scarlet flame! But enough talk... Have at you! Zat’s my line. Woop, sorry.
I always did it and it wasn't until my trigger happy finger pressed the button to attack that I discovered that you actually can attack him when he bows XD still I didn't do it out of "respect"
grimm: *bows at the start of the fight* me, realizing i can move: wait, so does this mean i can attack him now? *whack* grimm: SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE edit: this was on my first playthrough. don't worry, i have since learned my lesson. i now know to bow back.
Leaves I think he's likely puffing his cloak with red flames, and it turning red is just from the flames inside and the fireballs are just leaking out.
@@justanaveragebuzzsaw I like to imagine that if you banish them before completing the Pantheon they reappear (because it's not the Radiance's kingdom anymore) and Grimm has a blast tutoring the newly born Lord of Shades. That, or Grimm gives Hornet a lift from Pharloom with the worst "WHy is it always you three" face
Burn the father, feed the child Dance and die and live forever Silent voices shout and sing Stand before the troupes dark heart burn away the Nightmare king
@@connormac4401 NKG was actually my favorite fight in the game. There is a rythm to it as well, but it's something closer to an unending combo from the nameless king in ds3
"it went all pufferfish to me" seems a thing that could have been written in a watpad fanfic...oh god please hide Grimm's son if there ever exist fanfics about Grimm..........
@@pluto3194 I don't understand the shipping bit of the fanbase. Like jesus christ they only have like two good characters to work with (Grimm and Hornet)
I freaking love what an homage this fight is to Castlevania...the organ and electric guitar battle theme, Grimm disappearing and reappearing, the attacks coming up through the floor, the attack opening up the cape to release 3 projectiles...all these things are quintessential Castlevania Dracula.
pigslayer275 let's be real. The entire game is a darksouls reference. Solaire = Quirrel Chosen undead = the knight Gwen = the Hollow Knight (and partially the pale king I guess) The lord souls = the dreamers Bonfires = benches The undead curse = the infection The list goes on. But personally I like this game a lot more than dark souls.
Mr. R I'm more referencing the death system. Entire game is on autosave and if you die, you go back to the last bench rested at then go get your geo and soul meter back. Only difference is that Hollow Knight made it awesome by fighting your shade to get it back
"so elegant he moves with such grace" says the crowd and you say "AHH AHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" "STOP NO.... WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!" "OH GOD WHYY AHHHHHH *CRYING*"
Did anyone else bow back to Grimm at the beginning of the fight and after it? I started doing it after attacking him during it once. You can guess what happenned next.
My favorite type of villain. Not too loud or obnoxious. Has a sense of class. Won't just rush at you with an axe. Mentally unstable. Knows they're in control. Sinister fight theme... *Pufferfish*
I love how, if you attack him during his bow, he's like: "HOW DARE YOU INTERRUPT MY BOW! YOU WILL NOW HAVE TO FACE... *_THE PUFFERFISH!_* REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" and then he proceeds to beat the everliving shadow out of you with his fireballs
Chris is back at it again with the amazing hype dlc music. This is crazy! What the hell is that other half. I feel like I'll be too distracted rocking out to the music while Im getting my nail on.
My god does he know how to built tension. The whole first minute if this track is just building up and up with a steady drum roll and the chords keep getting higher and more intense until that massive release when the guitar and drums kick in.. SO good
I swear I didn't realize that the reason he always was starting with the pufferfish attack was because I was smacking him Now I've never been so terrified to attack before my enemy
This hands down may be the best fitting music for a boss like Grimm I have ever heard, the intensity, the metal, THE ORGAN like Jesus Christ what a masterpiece
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9D-RcpJJwEI.html By warriors I mean the Warriors series of games, Dynasty Warriors, Hyrule Warriors, FE Warriors, etc.
this piece is better than the nightmare king imo. the nightmare king sits at a sold 50% intensity the whole song, whereas grimm's theme goes from 10% to 100% and absolutely lays it down with the incredible electric guitar work that is so unique for a piece of organs and strings from a music theory point of view. it shouldnt work, but mr Larkin is just such an incredible artist
I like how the slight change(1:05) during Grimm's pufferfish attack makes the battle feel more intense it actually makes me panic, which then makes me mess up my dodging
Consume the child embrace the flame we shall perform to entertain The nightmare king against the knight the burning passion of the fight A melody so elegant to suit the troupe masters decadence A roaring waltz a flaming bow Respect your master no matter how foul
@@NoahWazHereGaming Ha thanks for the advice I stopped playing it after beating the main game if I return I'll try it out Now I'm stuck on an optional Elden Ring boss :(
*Troupe Master Grimm steps up for a grand performance!!* On-Screen Appearance: Appears in a puff of scarlet smoke, taking a bow to the sound of an applause. Neutral Pose: Back turned towards the direction he's facing, body slightly angled towards the fourth wall. Walk: Turns towards the direction he's moving and strides forward. Double Jump: Grimm grips his cape and it flaps once like a pair of wings for extra altitude. Idle Pose 1: Shadowy Grimmchildren whirl around Grimm and then disappear into him again. Idle Pose 2: Grimm closes his eyes, Nightmare Essence forms in the air around him and disappears as he opens his eyes again. Block: Grimm pulls his cloak up, letting it shield him. Dodge Roll: Grimm gets down on all four(six?) and skitters along the ground. Aerial Dodge: Grimm discorporates into shadowy Grimmchildren that fly in a given direction and then reform into Grimm again. Neutral Attack: Grimm lashes out with a rising sweep using his cape, followed by a twirl and an overhead sweep with the cape, followed by Grimm creating a bit of space with a backwards wheelie with his cape once again making a rising sweep from the movement, followed by Grimm launching the opponent away with a blast of scarlet flame. Forward Tilt: Grimm makes a slashing attack, his cape formed into a sharp edge. Up Tilt: Grimm does a slashing attack over his head with one hand. Down Tilt: Grimm slides face-first along the ground, rapidly swiping with his hands in front of himself. Dash Attack: Grimm dashes forward with a lunging attack, his cape formed into a drill around his arm. Neutral Aerial: Grimm summons five scarlet fireballs that spiral outwards from him. Forward Aerial: Grimm slashes forward with one hand wreathed in scarlet flames. Back Aerial: Grimm twirls around in the air and slashes behind him with one hand wreathed in scarlet flames. Up Aerial: Grimm turns upside-down, wraps his cape around himself, forming the lower part of it into a drill as he kicks upwards and flares out the upper part of the cape like a pair of wings. Down Aerial: Grimm vanishes in a puff of scarlet smoke... only to come diving down from the smoke cloud, wreathed in scarlet flames, descending until he crashes into the ground below with a burst of flames. Grab: Grimm reaches out one hand and grabs for the opponent. Short reach but comes out pretty fast. Pummel: Scarlet flames erupt from the grappled opponent. Forward Throw: Grimm's cape turns into half a dozen nails that rapidly stab at the opponent, sending them flying. Back Throw: Grimm drags the opponent behind him with a dance-like double twirl and sends them flying with a kick. Up Throw: A flaming sphere forms above Grimm as he gets down on the ground, pulling the opponent in above himself, his cape forming into a drill that launches the opponent up into the sphere of fire. Down Throw: Grimm and the opponent disappear in a puff of scarlet smoke and then reappear in the air above, Grimm pushing the opponent down into the ground, unleashing a burst of flame as they crash down. Forward Smash: Grimm strikes a pose and starts gathering scarlet flame in his hand that he then unleashes forward. Uncharged just fires a burst of flames. Halfway charged fires 3 fireballs in a spread-shot pattern. Fully charged fires 5 fireballs in a spread-shot pattern. Up Smash: Grimm shoots down his cloak into the ground around him. Uncharged the attack unleashes 3 cloak spikes from the ground on a convergent point right above Grimm. Halfway charged the attack unleashes 6 cloak spikes, 3 converging on a point right above Grimm and the other 3 spreading out. Fully charged all 6 cloak spikes spread out, covering a much wider area. Grimm has super armour for the duration of the attack due to anchoring himself. The attack has a sweet spot at the very tip of the cloak spikes. Down Smash: Grimm strikes a pose with both his arms up in the air and his cape fully opened. When the attack button is released, Grimm swipes down with both arms at once. Floor Attack: A short burst of scarlet flames erupt from under Grimm, lifting him up to his feet. Edge Attack: Grimm vanishes in a puff of scarlet smoke and re-appears just off the ledge, dashing forward with his cape shaped into a drill. Neutral Special: Grimm Fire: Grimm opens his cloak, sending out 1-4 Grimmchildren made of fire depending on how many times the B button is pressed. The Grimm Fire flies with erratic movements. Up Special: Vanishing Act: Grimm spins once and disappears in a puff of scarlet smoke. He then reappears in another puff of scarlet smoke some distance away in the direction pressed. Holding down the B button increases the time before he reappears as well as the distance he can travel. Side Special: Scarlet Slash: Grimm dashes forward with a large swipe. An additional button input makes him launch into the air with a rising uppercut. Yet another button input makes him disappear in a puff of scarlet smoke, scattering five flaming spheres around. Grimm reappears a short distance away in the direction pressed. Down Special: Diabolic Dive: Grimm teleports into the air, shapes his cloak into a drill and dives towards the closest enemy at a diagonal angle. As he lands, an additional button input makes him follow up with a dash in the direction of the closest enemy using his arm wrapped in his cloak like a lance. When performed with a Smash input, the attack leaves a trail of scarlet flames in Grimm's wake. Down Special Aerial: Diabolic Dive (Air): Grimm shapes his cloak into a drill and dives towards the ground at a diagonal angle. As he lands, an additional button input makes him follow up with a dash in the direction of the closest enemy using his arm wrapped in his cloak like a lance. When performed with a Smash input, the attack leaves a trail of scarlet flames in Grimm's wake. Final Smash: The Nightmare's Heart: Grimm takes a moment to focus and 4 pillars of scarlet flame erupt sequentially under the closest 4 enemies (multiple flame pillars will target a single enemy if less than 4 enemies are present within the attack's range). All enemies hit by the flame pillars will then be transported to the location of The Nightmare's Heart, where Grimm performs The Pufferfish Attackᵗᵐ for 10 seconds, (it's a straight-up dodge-a-ton... or get-hit-a-ton... blocking results in an instant guard break,) disappearing in a puff of scarlet smoke when the attack reaches its end whereupon a torrent of scarlet flame is unleashed from the Nightmare Heart, returning all combatants to the main stage again. Up Taunt: Grimm raises a hand and snaps his fingers. Side Taunt: Grimm takes a deep, respectful bow. Down Taunt: Grimm screeches like a banshee. Victory Pose 1: A drumroll starts, Grimm appears after a couple of seconds in a puff of scarlet smoke and takes a bow. Victory Pose 2: Grimm hangs upside down, sleeping, as Nightmare Essence forms in the air around him. Victory Pose 3: Grimm levitates silhouetted against a background of raging scarlet flames. Team Victory Pose: Grimm takes a deep, respectful bow.
Bro u’re crazy for having made an entire smash set for grimm with even the animations. Huge respect for doing that and i think that’s a shame to not have a hk character in smash
@@jean-paulcanari8506 I also created a Smash set for The Vessel and Hornet... And if that makes me crazy then I guess musk-green gauges micturate with nibbles and tiptoe rusting machinery, rustically inclined. There are a lot of indie games that deserved the recognition to have their characters put in Smash -- not as trophies, or assists, or mii costumes, but as playable fighters... Hollow Knight. Touhou Project. Undertale/Deltarune. Hyper Light Drifter. Skullgirls. Cave Story. Shovel Knight. Shantae. Cuphead. Ori. Yooka-Laylee... If there ever is a Smash after Ultimate, (and the escalating climate breakdown doesn't kill us,) then maybe one day some of them will get to stand in the spotlight.
I mean since most people can only hear the first 20 seconds of NKG's music before getting utterly wrecked. And those who actually good are too busy dodging this fucker to pay attention to the music
Yeah, nkg is near impossible. Thats not a bad thing though, because he is a secret endgame boss. His theme is more grand and epic than this one, which fits because of the style of the fight. I just prefer this track because I personally like the flow is better or something. Maybe its the guitars. I cant really explain my preference for this one.
I like how the music gets more intense when he does his pufferfish attack, it makes sure that even if you haven't encountered this attack yet that you know you're in for a painful time
I beat Grimm for the first time 2 days ago and I hit him during his bow every time because I thought that’s what started the fight... needless to say, I got pretty good at pufferfish phase
No. No you are not. Also kind of gives you the impression that if stolas ever got truly serious, whoever he was fighting would be in very serious trouble.
So Hollow Knight was quite a unique experience for me, because before I actually listened to the OST before I played the game. I had the full OST saved on RU-vid and one time I started listening to it while drawing. It was the first time I managed to listen to the whole thing, but I was drawing, so I didn't read titles or anything, I was just coloring and causally thinking "oh, that's a boss" when the music got louder. Well after some time I stopped paying attention, stopped noticing the music getting more energetic and stuff. But man, at one point I remember that I stopped drawing, turned up the volume and thought: "who the HELL is causing the OST to suddenly have heavy drums and guitars in it? This dude is going to be WILD!". Well it was. Grimm I can deal with just fine, but NKG...eh.
