Literally went on youtube to search for a CS bag review, and this shows up in my recommended. Uploaded 5 hours ago. Thanks for a thorough review as always!
Great review as always. Yes i have never understood why companies seem to feel that if they cut down on the amount of disc storage in a bag that means they need to cut down on the other storage in the bag as well for some reason. Just because i only carry 6-8 discs for a round doesn't mean i still don't want to carry water , towel , rain shell , extra layer , hat , gloves , snacks , sunglasses , scorecard , pencils , sharpie , mini-marker , sunscreen , insect repellent , small first aid kit , phone , wallet , keys , etc , etc , etc... Recently i picked up one of the new latitude core pro bags and for me it has worked out great.
picked up a tan cs after watching your review over a year ago. great review! great bag! anyone who is in the market for dg bag needs to watch your channel. and . . . . shirt is on point !
just got mine in the mail. def had trouble pulling and replacing discs due to the hourglass sides. noticed the troublesome side panels are removable through a velcro access flap and took a look. i realized the material is pretty bendy so i put them back in, cut a dowel about an inch-and-a-half wider than the main compartment and wedged it in above my discs, causing the bowing effect to push outwards instead. after only a few hours, the bag's shape is now vertical and my discs slide out much easier! now can fit 12 in the main zone with no annoying snugness. probably will need to keep the dowel wedged in there for another few days on-and-off to make the adjustment permanent. it's not ideal to have to hack your own pricy bag, but there's almost no other options out there for this capacity/quality that keeps you light on your feet... thx for the review
I have the cs2 and I removed the hard plastic sleeves in each side of the bag and I was able to put about three more discs inside the main compartment comfortably and the discs stay straight throughout the day. The pieces are removable and it didn’t affect the sturdiness of the bag at all
Removing the dividers does effect the sturdiness of the bag, it allows the top to sag down and forward. Not a bad solution, but it does have the top droop if you have much of any weight in the top
Oh ok. I haven’t experienced that. Maybe my bag is new and not broke in enough and all I carry in the top of my bag is my two putters. Thanks for the videos
I love this review! I still decided to go with this bag, since I only carry about 16 discs that are mostly fairways and drivers, but I am glad I knew what I was getting into. I feel like if I hadn't watched this review first I would be disappointed with the bag, but now I knew what I was signing up for! Also, I totally stole your towel idea for the putter pocket. Excellent use of space!
@@daviddespas2957 so far it’s been working out! I’m usually carrying 15-17 discs and it holds them nicely. 4 mids, 6 fairways, 4 distance in the bottom and 3 putters up top. I can sometimes add an extra disc up top but that’s pushing it. Sometimes I wish I had room for just one more disc, but if I ever feel that way I bring a Towch (look it up if you don’t know what it is) and I can fit 1-3 more discs in it
Awesome review as usual. I think I’ve solved the bag’s hourglass storage issue: I cut up pieces of an extra foam camping pad to fill in the bottom, and used extra pieces on the sides to fill in the awkward gap that the bag has.
Heyo, nice reviews! I am considering this bag because it is crazy to me that there is not a good choice for this size bag that looks this good as well. Latittude 64 is re-releasing the easy-go finally but expensive. Anyways, only feedback is I wish these detailed reviews would go the extra mile and maybe get some b-roll footage of you using the bag at a hole or two. I mainly am researching for size and how it looks/feels when in use. That being said, great review and I appreciate the info!
oh my god you noticed! This is a brand new shirt, first time wearing it. I actually got 3 new shirts because I felt like I needed a few more nice shirts in rotation if I'm going to keep making videos regularly! I hadn't envisioned magnum PI but I love it! That is a great compliment. If only I had the voice to match
Great Review as always! I couldn't agree with you more on the disc storage part. Pulling the discs in and out can get very annoying. Honestly made me wanna go back to a top loading bag. Any recommendations on that?
I like the Fossa Skinny 2, it has vertical disc storage and a very open feeling made disc area. Also I just started testing a Ridge v3 bag and its layout is pretty damn cool with the option to have around 9 discs in vertical storage. If you meant a shoulder style bag when you mentioned top loading then I'm not quite sure. I do like some things about the Fade Crunch, but it really is a bit small for my personally. I have not tried many other top load shoulder bags.
Also IMO they should’ve kept the side pocket design the same across the board with separate water bottle pockets on each side as well. It’s literally the only reason I got the bx instead lol
Damn, was thinking about getting one of these but my $60 Prodigy BP-2 bag has more storage and seems to have a better overall design. Grip bag is obviously higher quality than the Prodigy, but I really don't like some of the design choices with Grip.
Great video! Should have watched this before buying. How to fix the terrible bulging inward of the side stabilization plastic? Would it work to just remove them? Maybe I should try.
Its probably going to start sagging if the dividers are removed, but that may still be a good option. Maybe Grip would take the bag back and you could try and get a B series.
Great review as always, keep up the good work! Curious to know which bags you have coming up. Im looking to upgrade but I am really torn on which bag to go for. How is the skinny 2 holding up? I like the slim design and am not in need of tons of storage so it seems like a good choice for me. I do love the look of bx/ax GRIP bags though. Disregarding the price tag, which one would you recommend in terms of quality/comfort? Thanks!
Ridge V3 scheduled for delivery tomorrow. The Skinny 2 is too new to know about durability and I'm the wronf guy to ask about that. I change bags way to often to wear any of them down. The durability of the Grip is long prooven and I have been told that the Fossa material is not nearly as good as the Grip despite my impression.
i did own the cs2 for a while and the review is spot on like you said. i was trying out some huge bags after that, but right now im trying out the bx2, which seems a bit less tight and more forgiving with the discs than this bag. the sides are not as curved inwards at all, at least not on mine, and its still very light. i carry 15 discs with 4 putters on top and a couple of towels in the main to support the discs. that together with the more straight walls and i dont really have an issue with tilting discs so far. the cs2 kept sliding off my shoulders too and the bx2 rides more steady somehow. it does poke into my lower back a bit though. it feels like the cut out part on the stiff bottom plate they did on the new series is a bit too small on the bx2 and it doesnt help much with that. otherwise i like the bx2 alot :)
Love the new b-roll and the camera quality! Curious, what camera(s), lenses, and editing software you are you using, I've been looking at getting into doing videos like these and not sure what I should get. Would love to see you review the updated DD Ranger and the new Paratrooper in the future. Also, what bag are you currently using/liking the most? Keep up the awesome content!
Thanks Chad! I had been using a Logitech C922x for my main camera, but was having some issues there. I found out that if I got an Elgato CamLink 4K then I could use a GoPro(hero 7 black) that I all ready owned. With a capture card like the camlink you may be able to use a camera you all ready have. I'm also using the GoPro for b-roll. I don't love the fixed wide angle on the go pro, but to get the camera and lense set up I want would cost ~$2600. One thing about the GoPro is that its not happy at all in low light, so good lighting is a must. If you are considering making videos like this I recommend prioritizing how the video sounds first, 2nd is lighting, and third is camera. Sound is so important and I still have a way to go there. I have been researching a lot on sound quality and editing and I think soon I will have a good audio sound. I'm using a Sennheiser MKE 600 and a Focusright Scarlett preamp. I'm currently using The Ridge v3 bag. I just got it in and have only used it for 1 round. My favorite bag that I am unlikely to ever part with is my Pound Octohaul, I just don't get to use it much when I testing other bags back to back. The Fossa Skinny is also a new top bag and I could really see myself using that bag a lot too. I will be getting some DD bags soon
Hi Doth, this issue with the hourglass loading/unloading akwardness in the main compartment... is it only on the new C bag? Do you know if the new B bag has the same issue too, or not? Thanks!
The A series that I also have a video up for has the same problem. I think all new grip bags do unless they just recently made a change. I think its more noticeable on the C series.
The B is the only Grip series I have not reviewed yet. I have a friend with an older model B, I would like to get my hands on BX2. I will add it to my list and see if I can make that happen.
Pretty random to ask on a youtube video I know but would you consider selling this badboy? I'm after this colour specifically but I can't seem to find it in stock anywhere!
I think you are missing a whole revision of the C series between the one you had the this version. I have a C series and it is the same hour glass shape with no side storage. Even worst, there are only side drink holders, not pockets that double as zippered storage. My c series is 3 or 4 years old. When I saw your other C series with side storage, I couldn’t believe it was actually a C series and not B. This new bag looks like a straight improvement over my older C series that has no storage beyond that top little pocket.
Yea, I did not run down the complete history of the C series. Check this photo: imgur.com/a/UEzZ6Qr On the left is the first C bag I owned and I think that is the one you are talking about. It matches styles with the B in the middle and the AX15 on the right. I believe that is the first version of the C series bag. That C in the picture was stolen out of my truck. Then they came out with the CS and I bought that to replace my stolen bag, I have a review of the CS and that is the one you are referencing I think. So the C had no side pockets but did have drink holders, then it had side pockets and drink holders, and now it has combo pockets. I don't remember the hourglass shape on the first C being as bad as it is now on the CS2, but I was not nearly as critical of bags at that time, so maybe it is bag and I just missed it?
I've really not tested many bags of this size. My favorite bag that I consider a smaller size bag is the fossa skinny 2, although its an unusual layout. I am just now testing a DGcoolerBag that might become my small bag. cant say for sure yet.
Not that I need a new one yet...I have the original CS and it's the perfect bag for me, a great combo of streamlined/light with amazing storage. The removal of the storage features is a deal killer for me with this new version. Definitely a major downgrade for the price.
I'm loving the Fossa Skinny 2. Grip BX is a classic and hard to go wrong with that one. Pound Carlton also has a strong following although it's not my personal favorite layout.
Doth does such a great job and the production values are only going up, but the viewership on RU-vid is tiny. Are these videos used someplace else? I would wonder about applying the skills as well in something that might hit interest a broader interest. Obviously there are folks who like the bag reviews, but maybe there's a second bigger niche to get into?
Thank you! This is partly why I am starting to do some reviews for 5.11 bags as stuff like that has a much greater potential audience. It would be great to at least be able to break even with what I am spending to make these videos happen. I have bigger ideas. I can do a lot with a little more money. We will see how it goes.
It sounds like you don’t like this bag. I’m fairly new to the sport and looking for my first real bag that is good quality and not 60L.. I though Grip are the best? Thoughts???
How do you feel about an old school look harness bag? My favorite bag that keeps things light is the Revolution Mini and add on the Revolution Harness with it.
@@DothSavek Let me check it out.. I just returned from Finland (GF lives there) and everyone seems to use the LAT64 Core Pro.... I'm wondering if there are ANY bags out there from non-DG companies that are really nice for DG. I know the Fjällräven Stubben is amazing.. :)
Wow that bag looks really good! I read your comment yesterday, but then didnt remember to go find the Stubben until just now. That looks sweet! Pretty light weight and its a seat!
@@DothSavek ya, it’s a hunting pack, but we sell a lot to disc golf players!! Esp with the added side pockets. Lol It’s not design for DG, but seems practical. I’m curious as the advantages of a bad designed for DG. The pound bags look awesome!!! Which bag would you recommend for a first DG bag
Maybe? I have a Rovic that I would like to review, and I have owned a couple Zucas before. I would need to figure out how to film it and keep decent audio. Can't fit a cart on my desk very well, especially not a Rovic.
