it is, i feel like that this game will be an exploration of emotions - of melancholy, despair and loneliness in a vast indifferent but beautiful world. the details and imagery says a lot but.. yeah

Sorry for spoiling the fun here, but being vague doesn't mean it has a meaningful message. In contrary, if everything ends up being kinda *left to interpretation* i'd consider it a poor job if the creator intended to get a message across. A game like this doesn't need a message though. It can still be a chill & interactive visual novel. And nobody will judge you for crying whenever you hear a violin kick into the mix. I'm just puzzled why people immediately consider anything that seems... just vague like this as a masterpiece.

I think I see where you're coming from. The vagueness can come across as pretentious and played out. I can also see, how leaving the message open can be lazy creating. But this does leave the door open for the viewer to latch onto the experience with his or her emotions. If she or he is willing and ready, the engagement could be just as strong because it's active--yes, the viewer is writing the story instead of the writer at worst, at best, they are writing their own story with the tools the creator left them. It's like listening to a song in a language that you don't know. The words don't matter as much as way the way the music makes you feel. And if there is no meaning other than a feeling, so be it. That's beautiful too. For me -- mind you, that opening played to most of my biases and left me weak in the knees -- I want to hear and see something that is humblingly beautiful. Stuff like this is a high point for me because the world that I experience is utterly un-magical and concrete. I know that this is a failure of mine to see the wonder in all aspects of life, but I, as I am now, I need to see something magical and otherworldly to feel a deeper connection to everything. The reality that I see is crushing; limited. frustrating, Isolating. The everyday culture that I live in doesn't value a song or an image or an instance that can be personally uplifting -- well I feel that way about the culture at least -- This dedication to what is quantifiable, what can be easily assigned a value, has been hurting me -- because I have allowed it to. I seek out things that are NOT what what my current experience is. Until I grow past my own issues, and perhaps still after, things like this that engage my emotions rather than my reason, will bring me joy.

Looking at it again, I feel like the game is a metaphor for dealing with loss. The intro and ending of the first level really gave me that vibe.

Because playing audio/visual art pieces like this high is a trip dude. Played through Abzu completely blazed and it's still one of my favorite gaming experiences

Don't be entitled, videogames having gameplay is such an outdated concept.

The idea of the game is kinda minimalistic. The gameplay is just about a girl who in her mind explores life more and eventually the idea of her outlook on life changes the more you play. I guess that’s it though.
