SF makes really good use of the 'directional movement' option in the settings, which I think is worth knowing about. This turns your hero to the direction you click, then walks towards it stopping at the first thing you collide with. So you directional move onto your target (who is at the right distance) and cast, while turning it will do cast animation. This makes aiming razes much easier. You dont have to worry about pathing edge cases, like razing troll in the river in your video 6:13. Here you right clicked to aim towards him, which usually works in open areas or in attack range. Also useful for aiming force staffs, or turning when in trees to reduce cast time (Facing where you will be hooking as pudge in trees) Similar concept to turning during RP on magnus, which you can do with directional movement too.
Directional movement also useful with Mirana's leaps. And SF kinda needs a little bit of practice, for the first game he should've gone farming pos1 physical SF, that would just be easier, and btw SF now is more often picked as pos1 farmer.
I never know who you are, but lately youtube send me recommend about your videos. i played dota since 2006 grew up with dota, and i stop playing 2021, i stop watching people play dota also. nothing impress me anymore about dota, but watchin you learning from the bottom about dota bring joy to me. and how you enjoyed the game is wholesome. some typical dota streamer and players is raging toxic etc. nothing more nothing less. but you seems like really enjoy it no matter you have bad or good game. i feel like you really have good impact for the community and the game.| i hope you enjoy more about dota. cheers
Viewer side, the one hero I enjoyed the most seeing played by Grub was Meepo, no doubt. Hope he starts spamming it because he was able to put up quite a show with him.
It has been an absolute treat watching you do A to Z and giving such great insight on each hero from a novel perspective. Hoping you stick with it and keep playing!
Bane is actually one of the best heroes for making plays on enemy cores, especially in the early game. He is also surprisingly survivable if you play him right, all of his spells contribute to make the enemy kill you slower and it opens a huge window for your team to make a play. You shouldn't bother with nightmare dodges until you're really comfortable with the hero but yeah, the hero is VERY strong both as a pos 4 and 5 if you play him properly.
Bane can effectively disable up to 3 heroes. 1 sleep, 2 enfeeble (damage reduction for a phys damage dealer is strong), and 3 ofcource ult. But yeah, you need to be careful with sleeps. There are some abilities like Bane's sleep, OD astral, Pugna's astral, and Shadow Demon's Disruption which can basically save enemy hero when used at a wrong time, also those are very very annoing for your carry)
SB tip, you can use phase boots while charging increasing your movement speed -> damage before impact. If you are skirmishing and trying to dish out maximum damage, try to have the phase boots and buldoze buffs at the same when you are about to hit with charge. bonus points if you can land the ulti if you have these buffs on still (more damage). Falcon blade is pretty good these days for pos3 spirit breaker. Item did not dissapointment me yet on this patch. Words of grandmaster sb player:) Keep up the good work. You are doing great grubby. Love to see you in this game too.
It has been interesting following your development, you are a bit below me in rank and some things when I have watched you have been amazing, like way way better than me, it’s easy to see you have a great talent for this game (unsurprisingly) and we are only at the beginning. Looking forward to see you clime in the ranks and surpass us all 😁🙌 Thx for amazing videos 🙌
Doom is a super cool hero. His power is about getting farm without actually farming + his spells with both agha and shard are just too good. All you need to do to win as doom - don't lose in the first 15 minutes of a game so you could get dagger and bkb with maxed spells
I mean that was kinda what he didn't like. It's not about power, and I can definitely see why someone may not like playing Doom. He kinda is a farm bot that tries to doom one guy.
@@dark8118 Have you tried buying agha? Doom is not that dependent on ult btw Imho he is really fun to play mainly because you could get creeps you want to do what you want. Ms creep/cent stun / harpy for early game domination etc
The bottom 5 were definitely heavily affected by how the games went, rather than if the hero is fundamentally fun or not. In his Shadow Fiend game for example, he was up against smurfs, got ganked a lot and twitch chat became so toxic that they even tilted Grubby and the Kunka game was just a failboat.
@@nirodper I think he understood the passive, just not the implications of how you have to play with it and best to use it. He did not know the lifesteal would work with the staff stun and he would heal to full if he hit the entire creepwave with it. But also he was in a very high pressure lane with a bad support and basically enchantress farmed him the entire game.
Felt bad for Grubgrub getting smashed by twitch chat with that SF game, i had hopes for dota community to treat a relatively new player, but no exception iguess
My top 5 and bottom 5. Top: 1. Razor 2. Visage 3. Snapfire 4. Nyx 5. Underlord Honorable mention; Necrophos, Dawnbreaker, Pango, Chen Bottom: 1. Centaur warunner 2. Meepo 3. Elder titan 4. Dragon knight 5. Bounty hunter Honorable mentions; Treant protector, Broodmother, Lifestealer, Spectre My list is based which hero I had the most fun with and are viable with a nice kit. So the bottom are the heroes I feel are the most boring and honestly garbage compare to other heroes
@@yurnero2761 I'm an ancient 4 meepo who played meepo on a high level. His kit is just boring, no fancy abilities just clones that die all with you. Woaw you share boots and stats with you clone hooray! Like illusions that can cast abilities that all suck donkey cock unless you have all of your meepo to do DMG
I really enjoyed watching the high mobility heros like the recent puck upload. It ends up being really exciting to watch and I enjoyed as a viewer. Lots of poke, escape, initiation, dodging, and baiting. Very fun!
Over 56 matches of Omni, I had ~82% winrate or something with 2 massive streaks a little before Slacks had made him popular in bkb era. After that I was too scared of playing Omni for years, lest I got even 1 loss. I did play three matches this year finally and won 2/3.
I have almost 70% winrate with 100+ games, but I haven't played much omnidude since repel got removed.. IMO it's not fun, and there are much better supports at the moment. And oh I miss those crazy omnidude-carry games with armlet and mom =)
Omni was a pubstomper for the bkb dispel. He was very item independent which allowed me to go for force staff every game to save noobs from bad positioning in my tier then. No one would buy diffusal to dispel them.
Last time we had the special event to play PvE, Kunkka and Phoenix were some of the best heroes to have in there. I also struggle with Kunkka a lot. Phoenix does a lot of magical damage and is very much teamfight oriented.
@@RobertLutece909 I've seen some crazy kills on dotawtf. If he didn't have X as a skill he'd be probably my favourite hero. Timing three skills right is super hard for me. I like playing eul lina, that combo is easy for me.
After playing 1.5k hours (also known as "barely understanding the game") my top 5 favs (not really my best and not in order): Lycan, Enchantress (unit controllers), Luna, Windranger (when I just want to have a fun game) and Kunkka (satisfying). My bottom 5 (also not in order): Sniper, Drow (zzz), IO, Oracle (I don't know what I'm doing) and Fiend (I miss everything).
if you don't understand what to do as io and oracle after 1.5k hours then you should leave this game until you damage other ppls minds with your irreparable gameplay
Surprised you didn't include Naga, considering you played her quite a lot and really, really well. I guess she's not as fun as one-shotting supports with Chaos Knight.
What's fun about naga... She's really annoying in a bad way hero. Hoping to see a strong riptide nerf after the Int. Too OP right now. Naga just farms with illusions.. to get more farm, and even more farm, and you practically can't too much vs that. And then naga just goes and finishes the game without any challenge.. no interest)
i totally expected Grimstroke and Magnus it'd be nice to hear Grubby's top 5 coolest designed heroes like their ability kit/model/voice/animation everything
I have a feeling you'll change your mind on a couple of your least favorites heroes if you choose to practice them more. I really liked the clips of good plays and fails, I hope to see more of them in short videos! I'm really enjoying your content, thank you Grubby! 😊
Omni knight was part of the first combo I ever played in dota back in 2007 or something, him and sandking. Stun in and heal the SK, free kills all day.
@@Cra3ier "Time right" if you can't cast heal on SK when he is melee with the stunned enemy, you have bigger issues. Also no one cared about team setups back in 2007, the whole 1-5 positioning wasn't even a thought.
Awesome combo, we used to play it on dota 1 with my little brother back in the day playing both on lan. You could also use the spell inmunity before the sk got the dagger so he could cast ult.easily.
@@camilodelfierroacevedo5292 Yeah, that old Repel ability was awesome, 8 second bkb on any hero, combined with ultimate and you have a 8-10 sec 100% invulnerable hero, waybe thats why he was reworked) And I miss those oldschool omnidude-carry builds with mask of madness + armlet) When a dude with beard just runs straight into enemies and hits them with his hammer, thats was fun) Dota was much more fun back in the days)
omni was so good back in the day. He did not need core items that much unlike say abaddon. I had played 56 matches of omni back then and wielded a ~81.2% winrate or something purely by spamming force staff on Omni. I was too scared to play him again for years lest I lose with him and ruin my stat.
Well, Omnidude is a good hero, but the point is, there are other much better supports at this moment/patch. And imo Omnidude was much more fun to play with that old repel skill and 3rd skill as default aura.. back in the days)) And, well.. DAZZLE !! is on the list) one of the best voice lines
i feel like if meepo was better this patch then grubby will probably love the hero since he love playing micro hero and meepo have a very interesting hero design.
Meepo was always strong in pub games, and is strong indeed now. Like broodmother, lone druid, arcwarden, the reason is that most people don't really know how to properly counter those heroes.
makes a lot of sense of kunka being hard hero for 1st timer. his spell is stated well. but hard to use since almost all of them are timing involved. but things like timing getting easier the more you play him. ggwp grub.
I agree with your list, I see that you really like the micro on units and kind of getting used to the mechanic type heroes like bane and kunkka. Monkeykong tho is actually a very easy hero, u stack 4 on one target then burst with boundless strike (q). Still, pretty good list and quite surprised that you put in dazzle, I actually really like his kit too for imba saves to clutch fights. Keep making amazingg videoss dudee
I'm really surprised that none of the more complicated heroes made this list. For me the second you get into multi-unit control heroes like Chen and Meepo it starts getting a lot more difficult to manage. Glad to see you like Dazzle though, they're a personal favorite of mine too.
To play with Shadow fiend you need a hotkey for "no directional pathing" its in game, you press it and the hero will move like there was no terrain (of course if theres a cliff or a tree he will just try to move pass it with no sucess) but for SF its needed.
I m like: i ve been following grubby for a while when wc3 was a game. Stop following him for like 10 years, then came back while quarantine . And now he plays my favorite game. Dota2. Lov ya grubby, keep the great content
Heroes that can grief allies should be locked for new players. not just because they will grief the game, but because they will experience the toxicity of allies and end up hating the game. winter wyvern, bane, shadow demon, oracle, invoker, IO and couple more that i can't remember. basically heroes who can save enemies.
Fav: Lone Druid - I like the hunter pet gameplay Tide Hunter - My favorite champion in entire game , pretty tanky , huge ult Disruptor - OP as hell and gets stronger every time I see him... dispair when enemy gets glimpsed Slark - Self Heal , Invis , quite strong Tiny - the fking 1 tap combo , and stun duration Worst: Oracle - I don't like the mechanics Tinker - warps the game too much Elder Titan - I can never figure out how to play him correctly , i know In theory but in practice it's so not me . Razork Death Prophet - I don't like the "I latch onto you and you cannot play because I move faster than you" type mechanics.
I played like few dozens of SF games and obviously played hundred times with or again SF and now I learn that it got different animation for razes from Grubby. Difference between pro and amateur I suppose. Also nice to see top/bot completely different from mine. Like, I will gladly pick 5 bot heroes from Grubby than the top 5. It much easier to find yourself useless or underfarmed as CK or SB, but with SF you always in the driving seat, you got instruments to comeback even if you was harassed. Etc, etc.
Haven't seen your MK game but i'm sure once you get more familiar with him you gonna love him. As for Omniknight, I enjoyed him the most as pos3. With fast lotus orb and save items like mekasm and such. Running around like an annoying tanky blob that constantly saves teammates was really fun. You might enjoy too but I feel like this only works in lower skill games.
Yo grubby been watching your Dota Journey a bit. I notice you still clicking your "button top arrow" thingy for the previous and next page in the client dashboard. You can use your mouse4 and mouse5 buttons for the same things, the client works like a browser you can check in the "Settings" => "Options" => To Advance Options, Then check "Use Mouse4/mouse5 for dashboard forward/back" GLHF for dota, and try to not get angry with your teammates when they mad in games and trash talk or whatever, and don't push the report button so easily because they sus for smurfing or trash talk people had the tendency to see other mistakes more so just said to them "We all learning here for dota, it's fine guys make mistake" most of the time they will understand and move on, or if they keep the trash talk till the game ends either win or lose, then report them. So yeah, and one more thing if you miss playing WC3, just play Chen for Pos2 or Pos5, Arc, or Meepo. But I suggest you try Chen Pos 2, it's quite fun to bring all your army at Lvl 6 in mid t2 towers, they can't do anything. xdd
Now that you are a master of every hero, you should try the Ability Draft mode! Take turns drafting the best skills and combos with crazy synergy and potential.
I feel like in Dota, the overall gaming experience depends on the team you get matchmaked with. Even if you play your best hero and your team sucks you will have bad experience. And vice versa. So matchmaking is the deciding factor in my opinion, if you are a solo player and you dont have a team.
I haven't played dota 2 in ages but my most played are Omni, CM, Earthshaker, Beast master, Dazzle, Zeus and Silencer. I also really like Viper, Venomancer, Pugna and shadow demon.
hey grubby, nice list only surprised with sf, i think you will like sf the more you play the hero. Bane used to be one of the strongest heroes back in Dota 1
Hope you comment TI on your channel in the next few weeks, as an old sc player with not enough knowledge of today’s dota top teams (and no dark horse to cheer for), your fresh analysis would help getting interested in it
I disagree with the last one bane pick. Bane is insanely good in 1v1 3v3 and 5v5 depends on how skillful you are playing him. Sleep then grip 2 heroes disabled already. The sleep can also protects teamates in last hits or dying team. 1 of the best mid laner is bane when core. And his minus attack and minus resistance is great also. Sleep can also be an iniator in early roaming sleep then arrow mirana then stun again lion or es. Or kunkkas torrent
I have nothing against DOTA It understandable why Grubby put so much effort in it right now, but it would be so great to get Warcraft 3 hero or/and unit tier list from such a legend!
i like your worst 5 better than your best 5 to be honest. i think my top 5 would be 1- treat protector 2- tiny 3- venomancer 4- monkey king 5- legion commander mostly heroes that are active from the get go, good at early fights and don't have a stupid "creeping phase"
Ouch, Omniknight really got the short end! Maybe SirActionSlacks can coach him on his next game, then he will feel the power of Omniknight coursing through his veins!
I searched a video of the worst heroes in Dota2 specifically to hear someone else say out loud how Crappy Doom is. Thank you. It's true to say 'the better they look, the gayer they are'. His kit needs a rework badly.
the thing about bane is u dont intialize the sleep every time.. it's not a stun. defensive/ or zoning ppl away of a clash. but yeah the rest of the hard heroes are mostly skill based.
The problem with Kunkka is that he is actually not that combo at all, its all about good cleaves and learning how to land stuns without x mark. But probably that was a while ago ;d
Landing stuns without X is surely possible, but that's a lowskill play. When played as mid, you're the only one responsible for setting up kills.. Cause if you can time the combo right, you're almost a one-man army.
Some character are much more straight forward in their concept, such as doom, naix(lifestealer) etc, and then there are some heroes like Earth spirit that uses the stones with all his spells. About yelling with every hero. Not neede, some heroes you just feel more then others, that is jsut the way it is.
