In this video we are going to analyze cut FPS camera in GTA 3 and GTA Vice City.
Fortunately, it is possible to bring it back by implementing some strange fixes and, as a result, I am able to you show you the early Rockstar's concept of it.
Enjoy!
We are also going to release a mod, which fixes and restores this feature in-game. Stay tuned for the second video with a download link in the description!

The FPS mode of GTA V was actually introduced in 2014 for the Xbox One, PS4 and later a PC version. The original GTA V released for Xbox 360 and PS3 doesn’t have First Person mode

Interesting. So we know that multiplayer, different protagonists and now FPS cameras were planned for the 3D era. Basically GTA V was everything they wanted to do back in the day. Amazing. I hope they had kept coming with new ideas during IV and V, so we have more cool shit in the future.

@@ozordiprince9405Even the multiple protagonist idea was long planned in GTA San Andreas with sweet and possibly ceasar as other characters. They both have so much unused gameplay dialogue and the overhead switch movement has code leftovers too GTA Vice City was also supposed to have girlfriends

SpooferJahks Domain how's the progress on hunting down a hardware EAX chip for GTA3's EAX demo? It's a bit hard to find them sometimes, though Creative sells the Audigy Rx now as a Windows 10 compatible version of the Audigy 2, with the EAX4 capable card inside

Fairly certain FirstPersonPedOnPC doesn't mean Personal Computer. It means Player Character. The FirstPersonPed would be the function that is attached to the player character that renders the first person camera.

the auto-aim is not an actual auto-aim, it's an effect caused by the angle of the gun, since the bullets leave the gun's barrel at an angle, the line in which they travel is not aligned with the camera's view, so, where you aim with the crosshair will always be misaligned with the gun's barrel. meaning bullets will hit whatever is on their way, not where you're aiming at.

Its on PS4 its the PS2 version but it has trophies as well. They are an awesome reason to 100% the game. They have Vice City and San Andreas on PS4 with trophies as well.

@@JARRYDTHEPAIN ikr. I have it and I I platinumed they all. Man gta 3 was really hard because of the sniper rampages. The sensitivity and the inverted controls really made it hard although you can get used to it after a while. I love gta 3. It was my first gta game and I will always remember it. I really hope they bring it over to ps5 next year for its 20 year anniversary. I really want to platinum it again.

Pretty sure the 'FirstPersonPedOnPC' actually talks about PC as in PlayerCharacter. Its likely to do with a special pedestrian model (like one without a head and possibly altered chest) that was supposed to be used for the body as you looked down/around.

It would be amazing if Rockstar remastered the early 3D games on a modern engine, where they actually implemented a fully working first-person mode. Maybe adding features such as inter-city travelling (using the airports), where the players would experience the different cities in the respecting time-periods (1986 for Tommy Vercetti, 1992 for CJ, and 2001 for Claude) - and maybe adding some new missions. The possibilities are endless! Maybe even brought back Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories to the modern consoles, as well as the PC. I would definitely play the hell out of it.

well, at lease its on m60s ps: i know that the m16 in vc/3 also have first person but i dont know if it counts since the other ports (pc,mobile) use either third person view or auto aim for the m16. so unless someone is stuck on xbox or ps2 the newer versions have third person as an option. so again im not too sure if the m16 counts.

Didn't Sam or Dan said on interview that they wouldn't add 1st person mode in GTA at all? The Kotaku website says "We're deliberately avoiding that right now.", there's i believe more where he spoke about that in other games before 5 was even mentioned.

The "auto-aiming" probably isn't actually auto-aiming, but rather a bug. The bullets are fired from the gun, which is in the right side of the screen, and towards an invisible node somewhere in front of the player, signifying the location of the crosshair. The result is that the bullets tend to hit objects on the right side of the crosshair if they're between the player and the node, and objects on the left side of the crosshair if they're beyond the node, since the bullets are fired in a slight angle, and not directly forward from the player view. Usually developers would instead fire the bullets directly from the middle of the player view, or dynamically adjust the distance of the node based on what the player is aiming at, but this mode probably never got that far considering the other problems.

Fun fact: in GTA III if your on fire and shoot the rocket launcher or sniper rifle, you'll see an animation of claude shooting it but it looks a bit scuffed

R* are a bunch of ex-indie developers and GTA 3 was their first 3D game in the Grand Theft Auto series. We can all see from this video how their attempt at making a FP mode turned out. Obviously they must've had some limitation they couldn't overcome/didn't have time to fix. maybe aiming on the Y axis was the issue.. who knows

At 12:52 or 12:51 - 12:53... was that a stretching leg animation Tommy did?? I never saw it in game. Or was it just some other broken animation?

Maybe the animation for the "FPS_Rocket" was made for the cut Grenade Launcher?

I wish they had done traffic laws like the other video mentioned. Probably a realization that the fan base was GTA 2 guys like myself and we'd have been used to the previous system rather than going full Driver. The phone call thing as well wasn't in until Red Dead Redemption with people running to get the Sheriff
