i had to leave when they started talking music theory and forgot to come back until now, but if anyone was wondering (not sure if they get into it bc i'm skipping the section), there are two ways to use solfage (do-re-mi)! There's 'Fixed Do' where Do is always C, and 'Movable Do' where Do is scale degree 1. HOWEVER. Given that there are no accidentals written on the staff (no sharps or flats) it can be assumed that Do would in face be C, as no sharps/flats indicates the key to be C major. The BIGGEST issue I take with the whole thing, is that there doesn't appear to be a CLEF on the stave, meaning that those notes could be literally Anything. In fact, the only thing that points to anything would actually make me think the middle line is a C, a la Alto Clef, since there is a stone pointing to the middle line. (All clefs point to the line they are named after- treble/G clef circles the G line, bass/F clef circles the F line, and C clef always points to middle C!). But i suppose it makes sense that Most people who Do read music would be more familiar with trebe clf, it would just be nice if there were more of an indication of at least the idea of a treble clef, given it uses a real system. (I have too many thoughts about representation of music theory in media but also music literacy is my job and things like this make it hard...)

I know this won't really answer the question for a lot of people cause I wasn't there on steam to do it, but in a LOT of non-English speaking places, Do is always C, no matter what. Do is their name for the note we call C. Re is D and so on. Without any further context, you can generally assume Do means C.

It feels very mean for Jacob to let Julia do that voice for Bowser and not warn her that he joins later and becomes a major character.

It has been scientifically proven that seeing a sleepy Olive at least once a day keeps all the bad luck away. I just fell on my ass like a clown on the street, but the sight of Olive made my bruises disappear. Truly a marvel.

Geno is basically a space angel possessing a wooden construct with magic gun hands, which sounds pretty rad to me. And I like his visual design-- kind of cool, but also kind of cartoonish. If he looked more serious, I wouldn't like him as much. He's an interesting contrast with the more cartoonish rest of the game, while still fitting in.

I know I'm not chat but DO as fixed C is common in a lot of European music. Movable DO for solfege is an ear training thing in English speaking societies.

about the mint thing, i have a vivid memory of being like 6 and being sick at my grandparents’ place and my grandma taking off a few leaves of mint from her herb garden and giving it to me to chew up bc she insisted it would help. she was always into those kinda natural/folky home remedies. it didn’t exactly help but didn’t hurt either

Ah, Geno. Even with "movable Do" it seems "natural" (pun intended) to me that absent any other info you'd put "Do" at C, since "Do" is always the tonic of whatever key you're working in and Cmaj is often treated as the "default" key since it's the major key with no sharps or flats. That said even then you have to assume the treble clef to guess the placement (or you can just talk to Toadofsky...)
