honestly I guessed that match gold 2 lmao I dunno why everyone was dunking on that one in particular. The tech skill did seem a little shaky yeah but there were a lot of habits I wouldn't expect from super new players
as a plat player i felt like i had a really good read on the player elo in the silver to gold range, i think you're just too good and far removed from the elo trench warfare players to guess correctly ahah
Nice video :) Hopefully you can have guests on, maybe competing against each other. Harstem does this for Rank Roulette (starcraft 2) and its a very popular series.
With your tech skill and punish game you're neutral must be atrocious. Can't really see any other reason why you wouldn't be at least diamond. EDIT: Not tryna dog on you. What I'm sayin is if you play more patient you'll climb fast.
@@guitar2935 As a lonely Falco grinder, I think a lack of matchup knowledge can hold people back despite having good techskill. So yeah, it can count as neutral I guess
I hope you do more of these videos cuz it's fun to see how different people play at different levels. These are much lower effort compared to some of your other series so I hope you make more of these.
Great idea for a video! For some of those clips it’s not too obvious for the audience which player you’re trying to guess their rank, so maybe you could either mention out loud which player or add some text onto the screen
Amazing concept. I think videos like this are the future of melee, look at videos like guessing rocket league or csgo ranks. This could really boost melee’s playerbase.
The only one of these i guessed accurately is the fox falco one because i know what level which fox options start poppin out. Dude looked to comfy with his follow ups, fox isnt allowed to be comfy with anything until hes some local players bracket demon
Yo, love this format. If you want to develop it further, I recommend looking at Harstem's SC2 Rank Roulette. Some of the most popular starcraft personality content.
As a chess player, I've been playing slippi online, and I can tell you 100% the ELO system is broken. There's no visible record of games, the confidence intervals in rating aren't computed properly when considering the number of matches. There's also tiers of bots in every category that are not labeled as such. Particularly, the low end of the ELO range is squished far too down. ELO systems theoretically still work in the low ranges, see chess for example. You can tell apart a 900 vs a 1100, even though they are both complete garbage. And yet, in Slippi, everyone below a certain threshold basically has a 600 rating. And a 600 or lower rating has no predictive power over the match results -- even when we obviously could have predictive power. Finally, the last thing I want to say, is that I beat someone in rated, and refreshed their profile until the loss actually posted on their profile. But guess what? His number of losses never changed from before our rated match. and yes, I was streaming to Twitch at the time, and it gave a very negative look onto Slippi. The fact that matches are not posted on someone's profiles, and there's just a counter for W/L that does not update within 15 minutes of the successful completion of a matc is just absolutely disgusting technology. There needs to be an overhaul from a new team, hopefully with people that are more in tune with working ELO systems (see chess for example). Or education and a complete rehaul of slippi from its own developers, but I have a feeling they won't want to do that, and rather ride the success of melee and their shitty W/L counters into financial success. It's really quite frustrating, coming from someone who plays chess online daily for completely free, and their ELO ranking system is quite far more advanced than Slippi's, and works to show all games visibly as well. Slippi fucking blows and I will be cancelling my subscription before the next month bills.
LOL I knew my replay would throw you off. Just some context, the opponent was ranked higher than me (I recognized their tag) and it was game 3. We both played so nervous lol. Spaghetti everywhere
Hi Ginger, Nokokopuffs did an apex ranked guide awhile back going through each rank, what it means if you're there, and what it takes to climb out. It was a great ranked series of videos and i was wondering if you would be interested of doing anything like that? Currently silver looking to climb out :)
I need help. How do you reduce the gap between your good day and bad day playing? I can easily get to plat on a good day (I've never played long enough on a good day to see where I peak cuz it takes 2 hours to climb back up there so i take a break), and I can as easily drop to silver 1 on a bad day. THAT'S OVER 700 ELO DIFFERENCE.
@@TheGamer801 Thanks for the tips. I've been playing for about 5 years now, Falco always. On bad days, 80% of the time I lose neutral is for a technical reason. Missing a fast fall (then of couse the L-cancel, etc.), or missing the L-cancel strait up, or inputing a dash a frame early so it doesn't come out, dry lasers, extra SD for no reason. I can play a 2 hour session and not SD once, then the next day I AVERAGE more than 1 SD per game. Where I get confused is on some days I don't have these issues at all. So subconsciously I do have the timing down, but some days it click and some it doesn't...
bro called a marth who ken combo'd a silver 1 almost bronze LMAOOOO Whenever a marth ken combos that is GUARANTEED & PATENTED SILVER 3+ status, come on fam.. LOL
cool idea for a video! but honestly should keep the clips to under 20 seconds. and just focus on guessing the rank names. (silver 1, plat 2) guesing the rating number isnt what ur target audience is thinking of. good luck
Even Mango could look like a silver 2 Falco if I look at a specific 20 second segment. There’s a lot of ideas I have for future Guess the Elo’s that I think will keep it engaging though :)
