ALEXANDRA was always my favorite! The dynamic between ALEXANDRA and ALAN was so complicated. Marj Dusay was perfect as Alex, as is clearly seen here. In person, Marj was a beautiful soul who met many challenges before her untimely passing. So happy ALEXANDRA had a happy ending with Fletcher.😊. RIP 🙏 MARJ. 👑 and Guiding Light! 🏆
I cried when I saw Alan just sitting there just in peace. It remind me when Burgis Meredith passed in Grumpier Old Men. I think if we could choose to pass that's the way I would want to go!. My children would be assured I died peacefully.

There is Adam Chandler from All My Children. Asa Buchanan from One Life To Live. Edward Quartimaine from General Hospital. They came close, but Alan Spaulding will forever be, the Big Bad Wolf of Daytime Siaps.
Always thought it should have been Josh that told Reva about Alan. Also, wish they would have let us hear Phillip tell Lizzie, instead of just seeing her reaction.
It was consistent with the scene some episodes back when Phillip told Emma that he was dying. He and Emma walked away from Olivia and you only saw Emma’s reaction.
Yes, there were so many extended Family Members. Alan Michael, Amanda, Allan (aka Zack), Harley, maybe even Cousin Vicky as well as Nick. I would have loved for them to talk to each other and have Nick say that he nor his Twin Brother Brandon aka Lujack ever felt part of The Spaulding Family and it was okay. Have Nick come back to acknowledge that his Wife died of AIDS Related Illness.

Also Reva felt awful since Alan convinced her to come to Springfield. She worked with Chris Bernau (RIP) but no Daniel Pilon (RIP), then his Alan dies. How surreal.
He was so cruel and hurt all of them some more than others. He didn't know how to love because he didn't get love from Brandon, he had abandonment issues with the death of his Mother Penelope. He didn't love himself and just when he knew he had to change for the better, it was too late. I will say one thing it was very big of Billy/Vanessa, Buzz/Lillian to let The Spauldings come to their weddings since he hurt them too.
I always felt it was a cheat that Phillip and Beth never married when Judi Evans was in the role. It was the chemistry between Evans and Grant Aleksander that made the fans root for them. Evans' Beth brought out the best in Phillip. Chamberlin's Beth was written as a selfish neurotic. Evans' Beth would never have been involved with Alan. Also, it should have been rewritten (to correct the ridiculous retcon) that Amanda was Alan's daughter after all.
That was the same issue with The UK Soap Opera Eastendes. Daniella Westbrooke originated the role of Samantha "Sam" Mitchell but due to personal problems, then Kim Medcalf played her. On UK Soaps they almost never recast a character and with the Kids, they actually grow up. I told them about SORAS and they were in stitches. In the past couple of years alot of UK Soap Actors from Emmerdale, Eastenders, and Coronation Street have done well for themselves on Shows like Granchester, Victoria, Gentleman Jack & Last Tango In Halifax/Happy Valley.
Yes, it's kind of sick but there was alot of History. Phillip and Olivia had Emma who was the result of a One Night Stand when Alan was in The Hospital for surgery. Then Alan had Peyton with Beth but I still feel she's Rick Bauer's Daughter. It as more for revenge. When he as a Young Man Alan fell in love with a Young Lady named Jennifer Richards who left him. She moved to Canada and then went on Trial for Murder of a Lady named Lucille Wexler. She knew about a shocking part of Jennifer's Past. At 17 she had a Baby Girl named Amanda and Alan was lead to believe that she was his Daughter, it wasn't until later did a Dirty Pandora's Box was opened that Alan discovered that Amanda was his Half Sister that she was re result of an relationship that Brandon (Alan's Father) had with Jennifer but I wonder if Jennifer was raped.
This is the Phillip as he was meant to be..a good man. When Beth first came on GL is wasn't like the weak shallow Beth. She was strong young woman who had been threw hell. She would have neve have married Alan. Her and Phillip belonged together. to me Judi Evans is the real Beth. Better writing and staying with core families (Bauers- Reardon) may have saved this show. Phillip and Rick were great til the end. But the dye was cast when it became REVA REVA years ago. Bye Alan Bye GL. miss you
@416mcp This is what I hated about Beth. I don't blame the Writers it's just that they made being "Co-Dependent" okay and it's not. I saw so many of my Girlfriends do that and they always paid the price.
Why would he show emotion over someone he hated? Someone who tried to have him killed but killed the love of his life in the process??? Bad acting was on Kim Zimmer. He was her ex husband...
Oh, Beth, don't pretend you cared about anything but your daughter's Spaulding inheritance! God, as much as I loved Beth in the eighties (Lujack/Beth was HEAVEN), my despising of her post-1997 far outshone it.
Beth always felt threatened by any of Phillip's Other Children. When Harley gave Phillip Alan aka Zach she was so upset because Harley gave Phillip his Son and not her at first. Remember how upset Nick Newman was when Adam was born.
