Big ups to Ky for going to 1v1 a crazy op goddess so his best friend's wife didn't have to sacrifice herself. And then he got back up and threw hands again.
Funny thing is, even if Sol isn't a Gear anymore, he probably can still fight. The Junkyard Dog and Sol's innate fire magic should be enough for him to still be a playable character in any sequels they come up with. At the end of the day, from a gameplay perspective, he just lost his Dragon Install.
sol says he still isn't all the way human, implying he still has some gear cells in him in the same vain as ky, so dragon install might even stick around. really gonna miss the ponytail though :(
Sol did imply that he still wasn't completely human(I think he said more or less). It's just that He no longer has the Flame of Corruption, thus no longer in danger of being that giant beast thing in the future. I did not like how they went about it by quickly and conveniently resolving that issue and the issues Sol still had with Asuka. After all the build-up throughout the entire franchise, it just ended like that. But it already happened. Just hope the future story DLCs will flesh out story mode.
I believe it's the one where Asuka asks "if the world was going to end tomorrow, how are you going to spend your time?" Sol's answer is "stop what's causing the world to end or die trying." Aria's response to Sol's answer is "you mean spend the remaining time with someone you love?"
@@Kazam56 really seems like Megumi found her way into the Backyard, got the power to become God, but half of that power was sealed by Chaos. Her dialogue with Jack-O implies the timeline where she was Axl's girlfriend was erased or something.
@@segafan1316 yeah the time line was erased in Xrd, that was the toughest choice Axl made in that game, so I do not know exactly what happenned at the end of strive, because Axl was still in the white house seeing the ashes falling down, but later she sees megumi with the guitar?? I do not understand if I-No is dead or not tbh, or if she decided to destroy what she considered as "I-No" and became Megumi again just as Sol with frederick, but honestly that's the only way I can see that ending in the park being possible
Its also word for word based on Axl's original lore from his first appearance, which I thought was a really neat touch and immediately clued me in to Ino's identity when she originally spoke the words. I'm glad Axl got his happy ending, but I feel so sad for Ino :'(
@@RyanMarcel_ I think Elphelt said it best that they're more like his sister in laws. They're just clones of Aria, so they have nothing to do with Sol's genes as I understand it. And I use the word "clone" loosely since they're obviously not identical to Aria. Honestly the whole Valentine thing always confuses the hell outta me. I still don't fully understand any of it.
Technically Sol got a new girlfriend who just happens to have Aria's memories. Jack-O herself is not Aria, but just a piece of her while the other half is a completely new person i.e Jack-O.
I personally think it's more like, Sol/Frederick thinks that Jack-O is just enough of Aria for him, but he excepts that Jack-O and Aria are different people.
They did kinda explain why in glossary. Essentially after Rev he went back to being an underground doctor with Chronus but doing so made him more insane somehow. It’s not a good explanation but it’s there.
Other characters being in the game kinda need an explaination too, like Ram with her getup, or all the other characters eventually making an appearance.
Of those who are not in the game but makes a cameo 41:35 Robo Ky and Venom 41:43 Baiken 41:49 Johnny 41:53 Haehyun and Jam 41:59 Answer 42:05 Slayer 42:09 Raven 42:13 Zappa 42:17 Dizzy, Elphelt, and Sin (look closely at the corner you can see Testament)
Sol and Axl had a wholesome ending and I am glad for them. It's just that the whole campaign felt so underwhelming and so many characters where absent. It feels more complete if I rewatch the whole story of Sign and Rev. I hope they release more Story chapters with the DLCs and not just new characters.
I wish that they could had a campaign mode similar to Mortal Kombat or the Injustice games where all of the fighting roster have a chapter or two of their own. Feel like a waste otherwise
It looks worse but it’s actually better that most characters were absent, the problem with fighting game stories is usually trying to shove in as many characters as possible into the story and letting all of them have cool screentime, but in GGST they pretty much sacrificed that for the sake of having a more focused story, I’m looking forward to that extra DLC story coming soon though, I still wanna see the other characters as well
I think my favorite thing about Fredrick and Jack-O's big project is a single line from Leo in the last game's epilogue while he's taking care administrating Ky's kingdom. He complains that he's got a mountain of Ky's paperwork to cover, but in his own kingdom there's a pile of work to the moon. When asked about the distinction he says a mountain is climbable but humans can't reach the moon. What's the first thing Sol does after losing the thing that separated him from the rest of humanity? Defying all known expectations in an entirely different way.
Finally after 171~ years Sol gets to be happy. He has been a gear from 2016 - 2187 (end of rev 2 so its probably around there) 171 years of fighting his ass off and he can finally relax as a human with someone he might love even more than he loved Aria, has regular non mission related calls with Ky as friends, and even might be making a new friend. Vernon is probably using his status to give Sol the easy life because lets be honest Sol probably isnt making that much money at his stand plus years of bounties. Good end for him. Hes come a looooooong way since the days of the fire seal my friends
To me, Guilty Gear is the best fighting game of all time. Ever since I was a little kid drawing, and creating characters, being influenced from things I saw in Blade Runner, and Battle Angel Alita manga, I always pictured a world like Guilty Gear. I remember when the first game came out on PS1, I freaked the hell out, when I saw everything, and heard the music, I seriously nearly passed out, I was so excited lol.. It was almost like seeing the world I always thought about, with sounds and all. My friend who helped work on story, and some of the world, passed away in 2010, and I just left the whole project alone, the comic, and the game. But I think I should finish it. 😃
@@rns4533 Yeah I fully decided to get back into it 100%. First game would be very much like Castlevania/Metroid. Second would play more like that old game Guardian Heroes, a beat-em-up style. last year I put the main character in Final Fantasy XV, it was weird in a cool way seeing him in a game, gave a better idea on what he'd somewhat look like.
If you still remember him after over 12 years, you both had great memories and times together, seems like the phrase of someone never dies until is forgotten is true heh, hope he will remember you on the other world if theres one, wish you the best on your project.
You need to do it. A memory not only for you but for the world of who and what your friend with you thought and made. A recognition of what a life can do by being alive.
That speech at the end is so beautiful, sucks that so many people look over Guilty Gear as simply being convoluted and absurd when there are some nice themes to experience
I truly wanted to appreciate Strive's story beforehand, so I obsessed over all Guilty Gear Lore. I watched a 40+ minute GG timeline video up to Xrd, I read a TON of the Glossary, it was a long long week, but it paid off. GG lore is complex, but when you sit down and do the research, it's world and characters alone are rewarding enough.
@@Muteki_RENthis is the reason why guilty gear would benefit SO GODDAMN MUCH with an anime, manga, book, or any adaptation. TL;DR: lore is quite great, but thanks to daisuke not being too good at stortelling, it's hard to appreciate it. i like to think of gg lore as a meal, made with the recipe from a GREAT meal, but with the chef scrweing it up at many points. The lore itself is not half bad, great even, with some awesome ideas, but since storytelling is apparently daisuke weakest part, then it got kinda mixed and got all over the place, thrown in games with variable quality (namely, gg2 and isuka and some other spinnoffs (i even heard they hid some lore in a pachinko machine of all things)), it doesn't really get to shine thanks to the sahky storytelling. however, if someone that KNOWS how to structure this story gets it's hands on it and put some much needed order, i feel like this would easily be one of the better fighting games stories out there
@biosonic exactly, it's also stretched across all these old systems up till now, so something that's able to be easily accessible to streamline the story would be great. That's exactly how I feel about kingdom hearts
@@biosonic6514sometimes I wish that stories like that will get an adaptation. Not necessarily an anime adaptation, but 100% an animated adaptation. Because for me it’s a shame that so much people miss so great (for me) stories just because for them you need to play the game, or even completely ignoring their stories because they just don’t want to know stories from “just a games”.
This'll probably be the end of Guilty Gear, but if they do make a new one, I'd like to see a brand new cast of characters. This ending really has a feeling of "this is the ending for this cast."
Thats actually almost exactly what Daisuke Ishiwatari had in mind. Hes openly said that this marks the end of a major part of the series. The main cast has pretty much wrapped up their arcs, aside from a few which will more than likely return in the future. But characters like Sol and Axl, are pretty much done for good.
I imagine in some form some characters will return. It's hard to tell how many will, but those still actively working and fighting (i.e. Potemkin, Giovanna) may still return even if not very story relevant
35:55 Happy Chaos has a skin wearing the same outfit of the guy talking to Fredrick in this scene. Does that mean that he’s possibly Chaos in disguise?
This is the fighting game with the deepest and most moving and reflexiive story I know, and I totally love it. We must treasure the beatuful moment, for life is marvelous.
@@ilovedentistry3934 True True... it's just percent I-No will not playable in next game might be high. I am Dizzy main but I feels bad or people who main I-No too.
@@ZetsubouGintama technically speaking the name I-no yes. But she is still there as megumi not sure what they will do with her gameplay wise since we don’t know if she still has magic.
After watch the entire story mode, It was good but a ton of could’ve been redone; like how 75% of the cast has no involvement except being background characters and the plot related abilities are not used in the plot at the right timing (I’m looking at you dragon install). I hope that the Story dlc will fix some plot holes and eventually set up for a reboot
I'm guessing that's the reason why Happy seems to be alive at the end- Baiken and Delilah (Bedman's sister) still have a bone to pick with him, I'm guessing so is May and Faust, since he's apparently the one responsible for all the stuff Ariels did with the Gear bombs.
I don't blame the game for solely focusing on Sol since this was the wrap up to his story arc. Pretty sure future games will now shift focus to the other characters.
Wow Ky have big balls for sure, in Xrd i'm a little pissed cause he was portrayed like he always was holding against Sol, but now he got all my respect, 1 on 1 against a god, a truly men hands down
I love the ending but I really hope sol comes back. He's my main and I can't really lose that. I've found the character that perfectly fits my play style
I’m sure he will come back to kick ass out of his retirement, he just has to be more careful when fighting which he is more than capable of doing so. I too like playing him so I want to see him return. If he does in the future he will probably be a supporting character though but not a minor character by any means.
imo I believe that GG story (relatively to fighting games stories at least) is very good, with many elements that were well written and actually thought of before again, I'm not saying it's a piece of art in writing, but it's still a very good story that did it purpose while being enjoyable and with great characters and action that were years in the making, despite other elements not being o well explained and written I loved it and that's what matters for me
Even though the story was underwhelming, at least they finally gave Frederick some closure. He finally let go of his bitterness of his tragic past and live the rest of his days as a human, and not some Gear abomination. Not as Sol Badguy, but as Frederick Bulsara.
I like how Giovanna got removed from the scene by I-No, presumably because she wasn't needed for the narrative, haha. Didn't even catch her in any of the epilogue stuff, lol.
Don't know how to feel with some of those loose ends and missed opportunities like how underutilized Nago was and Sol using dragon install and going ham with it. My mind also immediately thought about the Jellyfish Pirates when they went airborne on the White House and come to help but nada. Happy Chaos and I-No's true powers has been built up so hypely through the entire story but ends up hitting kind of underwhelming with how they presented it and how quickly they moved on from that. That evangelion-ish part is kinda cool though. Chapter 8-9 really felt like it was made too rushed with that weird pacing. But nonetheless, I very much love the ending.
Oh yeah, it felt rushed alright. Felt like Daisuke's wanted to get Sol's story over with, and we ended up with this. I mean even the build-up between Sol and Asuka was slowing deflating the moment Xrd Sign suggested that Asuka might not have been the monster he was. Underwhelming.
Yeah, Faust and May got a make over. Ramlethal become playable again. But those three didn't have any roles in it. Sol is run around a lot I know it was president and anti gear round but can't he just dragon install the shit outta Nago? Beside God-Ino was so hype up but I bet the combine power of Ky, Sin and Dizzy can stop her. I have no complain on Vernon and Jack-o moment. Those two are VIPs of the story. But Daisuke make thing a bit rush.
@@HiddenVariable777 His sister is still alive and has the same condition as him And she is even mentioned in the story mode, so her chances of being DLC eventually are not that bad
Good to see that a bunch of em have at least some artwork in this game. Hopefully means we’ll get a bunch of em in future content or continuation or whatever the heck we get after this
