I was about to say the same thing. Kentucky people know all about dryland fish and all the other mushrooms we hunt around here. It's better than gold to some people.
Tyler is the greatest today. He and Jason Isbell are, in my opinion, the greatest song writers of this era. I realize what kind of statement that is. They changed my life really.
Did it again Michael, swear I don’t know someone who could describe music in a more complexly simple way. Truly a master of the craft. Amazing as always
The only other person who can put complex theory into explanations that make sense to us mortals is Jacob Collier. The effort Michael takes to include those of us who don't play or play by ear is greatly appreciated.
Michael-for your soul, your re-affirming of all that makes us human and touches our souls... keep reacting to Tyler, and you need, must, have to let 2 songs wash over you: Shake the Frost, and Hard Times... simply one of the most important, moving 15 minutes you will have this week!!! Love what you do and how you do it.. for the people sir!! Jake
A treasure from Kentucky, so glad to see him in the spotlight like he deserves. Wish fewer folk from our state tried to cancel him because of his heart.
@@the.living.man. when he released Long Violent History, he also released a short video message to his fans, asking them to empathize with black folk victimized by police brutality and injustice. There was a LOT of pushback, unfortunately.
@@joshgray3360 Hey man, thank you for responding! First of all, I agree with everything he said, and though I feel that BLM has been coopted like The Tea Party was, probably by the same people in power, I agree with him, and respect his opinion. I cant believe that all slipped by me. Good on him. We'll never win this war against the international bankers with more division. Thanks again!
I love this song and especially this live performance. I have been watching your videos for about a year and have gone through most of what you’ve got and I think that this is by far the best. Your improvisations were spot on and on a different level! Keep killin it!!
good stuff. Like you I love coming across lines that stop me dead and they stick in my head for the rest of the day. Tyler has one in just about all of his songs.
I absolutely love your little improv moments! They fit so perfectly. You can take any song and break it down and make it sound so simple. I am grateful for this Chanel and your pure genuine reactions to such amazing music/talent. Love to seeing you do more Tyler Childers in the future!
Man..I just love how you make me listen and appreciate even deeper the little things in music. You're such great content, genuine and talented man. Keep doing you!
Man that last bit you talked about going towards something and not away from yourself was some advice I needed a few years ago. I wouldn’t have listened. Because I was young and dumb. But I needed it.
My Fiancée and I will be having our first dance to this song in November. Can’t wait to share that moment with her. I love seeing people have the same visceral reaction to the song that we do. Love your stuff man. Keep bringing the goods.
The intro to this video is superb. The little fillers you add are bliss. The reaction, outstanding. It makes me “giddy” to see someone enjoy a Childers song as much as myself. I learn more from your videos than most “guitar apps.” I feel more in touch and comfortable knowing that someone enjoys the song just as much
I've watched so many of your videos, but I'm not a musician. I have no idea what you're talking about most of the time but I can listen for hours. Great stuff man. Cheers from BC
Iv been an avid watcher of you sir. I work nightshift at the local factory and come home just In time to wake my family up and send them off to work and school. You have Inspired me to “pick it up” more times than not. Lifetime musician first comment and subscriber just wana say thanks for keeping me centered during all this crazy mess we’ve been going through. Music is life. Rock on my brother man! And thanks.
I saw him on this same tour in Charleston, SC the week before COVID craziness blew up. So grateful I got to see him when I did! He had the entire house rocking with Country Squire, and swaying with All Your'n, he played us like a fiddle!
I like how you can instantly get into Tyler’s frame of mind regarding the lyrics he’s writing and expressing with such meaning, you can understand his emotions. Would definitely like to see you react to “follow you to Virgie”. A soulful and emotional song for him personally if you know the story behind it.
Rock on! Loved heaing about the your road time briefly, my friend. There is nothing like it, and I only traveled between NY and NC. That wore me out more than enough. Lol It gets expensive on the soul
I live in Lexington, Kentucky, which is where Tyler gigged around when he was just coming up. I’m not nearly hip enough to have known about him back then, but once he started to blow up, living here had huge advantages to being a fan of his. I got to meet him and get a couple of his albums on vinyl autographed, and I got to see him concert in October 2017 at a venue here called The Burl that has a capacity of only 300 people. It was just Tyler and his guitar and it was an amazing show.
I wish that I understood your guitar gibberish lol. However, I do share your excitement for hearing it for the first time. I now measure “living”, to how relatable this kind of music is to me.
13:26 Amen, sir. Done a lot of driving and searching myself and that resonated perfectly. I learned the hard was as well that you can't run away from the battle, you need to run straight into it.
Amazing! Although you are the reason my sleep schedule is totally screwed. I’m consistently up until 5 watching vids and adding new music to my playlist!
SO MUCH TO SAY! 1. Loved near the end - learning a little about you. I bet we’d all love to hear more. 2. As a GuitarGate student, I’m un understanding more and more of what you tell us in these videos - really awesome breakdowns. 3. For a low skill level - never been in a band person like me - FASCINATING to have what the band is doing explained. I’d love to know more about that subject - how bands arrange, agree, decide, tweak arrangements? How to approach other people about playing together, and how to do it. GuitarGate Course? Excellent video - great teacher - great “human” as well (it comes right through)
Did you mean to make me break down when you said "you need to go towards something and not away"? Your whole message at the end had me man. I needed that more than I'll accept.
I went to that concert and it was absolutely electric. Best show I’ve ever been to. Unfortunately when he came back to red rocks in 2021 it wasn’t very good. Still a huge fan and recommend seeing him live!
Tyler Childers is one of my favorite artists of this decade. He had a personal awakening recently after becoming sober. Definitely a story worth reading into
Thank you! The days inn pen line stopped me in my damn tracks the first time I heard it and nobody around me seemed to even hear it. I know there are music ppl and lyrics ppl and those somewhere in the middle like me but imo if you’re not hearing the words you’re missing so so much.
As always Sir Palmisano...you bring nothing but gems and then highlight the gems within the gems. “God is in my Days Inn pen, the muse I ain’t refusing. The part of me that ain’t around I’m always talking to.” My goodness. Appreciate you and what you share so much. Have a meaningful and lovely Memorial Day and God bless our service men and women past, present, and future. 🇺🇸
Fried Morels! Basically humble roots, eating off the land, to fine hotels. Morels are a great tasting mushroom that grows in the woods here in KY and other places that we pick every spring and eat.
You are the 1st person I've seen react to the Goddess in my Days Inn pen like I did. I write, and sing, and that line is just RIDICULOUS!! Told everybody I knew as soon as I heard that. Next level s#it right there hoss
One of my favorite Tyler songs is "Coal" and its one of his earlier songs but still just as powerful. I've never been a coal miner but growing up in coal country here in WV and having family ties and roots in the coal mining towns it really hits home with the lyrics
The way you talked about his band and Vulfpeck made me think of JJ Grey and Mofro. Check them out. Lochloosa or Brighter Days from the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA.
I love this man's voice with all my heart. God bless you lad love from England. Oh and just by the way. God bless President Trump and his amazing family. God bless America,. Love from England
What also deserves mention is the vocal melody in the verse. Where is goes to the E chord, he sings the 6th and 7th back and forth which provides some dissonance and has fantastic effect.
IN 8:17 he says "fried morels and fine hotels" morels are a type of mushroom that we eat in Kentucky thats seasonal, me and tyler both live in the Appalachian region of KY, and are about an hour and a half from each other, we all call them hickory chickens, but tyler went with the the actual name of the mushroom for the sake of rhyming.
It would be amazing if you did Lady May by Tyler Childers. It is my favorite song by him, and my ultimate goal to play on guitar one day. Great work keep it up!
Theres still great country music out there. You just gonna look a little harder for it. "Country music is dead," nah man, it's just in hiding so the radio "bros" who like singing pop songs can't ruin it 😉
@@alexanderwondaal5592 yeah. Never was that into Alan Jackson or 80s and 90s mainstream stuff anyway. I like the rougher, more edgy stuff of the 60s and 70s outlaw and country rock guys.
