I love this whole Peculiar Mo album! I listened to this song thousands of times waiting for the rest of the album and it was worth the wait. I hope you are doing well Willi!
Thanks @Guitargate for making me aware of this dude. @Willi-Carlisle you got a brand new fan dude. I immediately found that songbook and can't wait to sing and play my heart out to these fantastic tunes and share them with friends.
I just bought tickets for your show in San Diego! also the songbook is so so so cute and helpful and well thought out! Thank you for making it free. It's beautiful!
I cant get enough of this dude. Hes so talented and true. This performance never fails to give me goosebumps, even though ive watched it like 20 times lol
"one in fifty two chance it's real magic and it's true" at the 5:45 mark for me is the real payoff point of the whole song.... this is my fav song of the past 10 years.
This was easily my favorite country song of last year! Writing on par with an Isbell or a Prine in my opinion. Willi is an incredible musician and by all accounts a helluva dude as well. Please react to more of his stuff! What The Rocks Don't Know, Angel, Cheap Cocaine, I Won't Be Afraid Anymore
Willi always makes me open my arms to hug him, and then sticks a blade through my heart. I know that's a violent image, but I I can't describe it any other way. Love the guy, he knows how to make you FEEL what he's singing, and he feels it as well, as that's clear to see in each of his videos. My Italian eyes are crying 🤌
Oh my goodness, yes! I've never in 59 years had this experience before, but from the first moment I saw a Willi singing in a video my instant reaction was that I wanted to hug him tightly. I could feel his arms wrapped around me and his honest and caring understanding. Having listened to everything I can find over the last couple of years, and reading interviews, I am impressed with myself for picking up on who he really seems to be in that instantaneous instant of recognition. I mean, you never know, right? People are good at showing what we want to see. He seems real to me, though, so I'm going with it. 🤠🪕
Stumbled upon Willi at Merlefest, after reading Darrell Scott produced his last record. He was fantastic, and I can see why Darrell believes in him so much!
Just saw Willi at Newport Folk Fest. His set was high energy, high emotion and the crowd reciprocated in kind. Our hearts were his and his ours. There are many moments on a Newport weekend, this one left a mark different than the rest. Looking forward to the future @willi-Carlisle.
As a professional magician and a lover of storytelling songs, this performance hits home from many directions. So, honest, genuine, and relatable. I love everything about this song and the video-a BIG WELL DONE to all those involved in creating this beautiful piece of art.
Oh man I stumbled on this performance a few months ago, just listening to new tunes, having some drinks. Talk about a lump in my throat and tears. It’s so beautifully written. Thawed the frost on this jaded veteran metalhead. It’s easy to forget that this is what it’s about
I had never heard of Willi until he was the opener at a show I went to, and I instantly fell in love with him and his music. I got to talk to him briefly after his set, and he’s such a genuine and lovely human. He deserves all the recognition and appreciation.
My favorite was seeing him live after adoring his music for a few years, and then watching friends and familiar faces in my frequented bar realize how magical his music is. It was so beautiful. When he played “Your Hearts a Big Tent” it hit home for me, watching these people in my community come together and sing back to him. It felt like I was apart of something greater (I’m dramatic and emotional).
I am from Timmins, Ontario which is a small mining town in Canada. I have been trying to be an artist for my entire conscious life. After losing the love of my life, in part due to this aspiration, I was completely lost. So I bought a used version of my dream motorcycle and headed west. It was in the mountains of British Columbia that this song found me, forcing me to pull over in the old growth forests of Vancouver Island because it had brought me to tears. It was a surreal experience and has informed many of my decisions since then. Truly a life changing song.
@Willi-Carlisle is a true gem, one of the best to ever do it already and he's barely started doing it (I hope). Seen him twice live and I'll see him every time he comes back through.
Wow this is great timing for me, haha. This is my most recent "liked" song on Spotify. I randomly discovered it a few days ago. Beautiful songwriting. Thanks for the reaction!
Southern, blues, western, bluegrass, zydeco, etc are some of the best songwriting genres in the west that I've had the pleasure of playing guitar in. Love it. Reminds me of east Tx.
I can’t just listen to this song once. I end up listening two or three times imagining every aspect. I can see the kid spinning the quarter and the old man taking off his shoes. This is what music is absolutely supposed to be.
Got the chance to see this guy open up for Benjamin Tod.. absolutely blew my mind and made me a fan for life. Please do yourself a favor and go see him if you get a chance, it’s damn near life changing
So glad you liked it and finally got a Willi song on the channel. He has easily become one of my favorite artists over the past two years. Would also love to see reactions to Cheap Cocaine, Angels, Up the Hill, and/or Dry County Dust. I’ve posted all on GuitarGate. I also got to meet him after his show at the 8X10 in Baltimore a few months ago and he was such an amazing and down to earth dude and he is even better live
Again! Everytime I feel like nothing good comes out anymore, you pull one gem after another out of your amazing GG-Hat, Michael! Thank you for the great song, Willi and thanks Luke for the recommendation! 🎉
one of my favourite all time songs now! Willi is amazing, such a lovely man to boot. Met him in Manchester UK last year! and he just blew us all away! so much fun and seriously profound!
Haven't even seen this video but am excited! @Willi-Carlisle is exceptionally talented and I'm excited about Michael's energy and excitement, perfect mixture!
Unfortunately, most people will never know many great songs like this that have been written/performed over the years....Radio/Music executives would not let them be heard. Fortunately, with today's modern outlets we are hearing some of the most authentic songs/messages that are not following a "hit formula"...and people LIKE IT! I grew up and lived around Atlanta, GA... There was a cool singer/songwriter community there in the 90's/2000's. I was exposed to music like this all the time. I could go to an open mic at Eddies Attic on any given Monday night and hear some of the best songs in the world. I always wonder how many of those great songs have been lost and singer/songwriter dreams given up on because there were not that many outlets for the music. Not to name drop, but I will anyhow, I got to seen John Mayer go from being a door man at Eddies Attic to a superstar... along with Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles - Kristian Bush...Kristian was 1/2 of an awesome duo, Billy Pilgrim - amazing songs!), Clay Cook (played and co-wrote w/ John Mayer, co-wrote many songs in JM's first album...now in Zach Brown band), Shawn Mullins was a regular there, the list goes on and on... But, the real "stars" in those days were the SONGS... I head so many great songs from people I never heard from again. Just glad to see there is a new wave of singer/songwriters getting their stuff out there and appreciated. Michael, you should try to look up/contact Eddie Owen (former owner of Eddie's Attic) and interview him... Oh the stories he has about the singer/songwriter scene in ATL...
Yeah man thanks for reviewing that one! He recently toured with another Willy who you should review! Willy Tea Taylor “Chickamauga” or “Lullaby” would be great places to start.. Will Taylor is one of the finest songwriters of any generation can’t miss really
I got to see them in Chattanooga and it was awesome. Sadly, I didn’t know who Willy Tea Taylor was beforehand, but he was great and ended up talking to him for a few minutes and he’s a cool down to earth guy.
@@gregory_adam5350 rad yeah he is a great dude and all us underground folk songwriters have been in awe of Willy Tea’s songwritings for years, I am lucky enough to have written songs with him and call him my brother but brings us all together in many ways and has for years
@@Willi-Carlisle I know what you mean!!!he is my spirit animal! By the way Willi this song makes me tear up 3 out of 5 times i hear it. I love you brother!!
We need more storytellers ! Real ones r so far n in between now a days !! U know how real it is when a man can make himself tear up !!! I’ll put this one up with cash’s HURT ✌️🤙
For anyone still new here and not sure of wtf is going on- it’s FOLK music. It’s wonderful and American AF and please learn more…anything you learn acoustically will be amplified that much more if you do! Love and peace ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
I am very happy about the future of guitar players. I have been following guitar prodigy 14 yr okd Taj Farrant for a few years now. He has written, played every instrument and sings to his new blues single Crossroads. It's an ode to Robert Johnson's Crossroads. The kid is incredible. He has had a RU-vid channel since he started playing at 7. I started following him a few years ago. The kids can play and probably has played about every guitar hero's song. He's sponsored by a few companies including Kiesel and Taylor guitars. He's performed with some Gray's like Santana. He has a song that just music coming out in the next couple of weeks he's been teasing on his channel. The kids incredible!
It's tough for me to compare one musician to another, but I when discussing great, American folk singers, Willi Carlisle is in the same sentence as Bob Dylan.
That's what great music does to people watching you mesmerized by Willie was a beautiful thing, this shit music today has a little to do with why there is so many shit heads out there, music that rocks and makes ya think a beautiful thing
Found your Channel some weeks ago, lots of stuff to catch up. But i like it and its much fun to watch. Could you please do a song of Nina Attal ??? she carries the intense feelings like no one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XiOyqlaoNTU.html
