my sister in her 1st yr of HS french let a classmate/"friend" see her written work for ideas and the friend copied virtually word for word... teacher brought them in and the girl claimed that my sis copied lol. sometimes people make the choice to outright lie, even when there are only two people involved and those two people have all the facts. it's shameless but it's a value call. james put a value on his relationship with h3 and it's not as great as the value he feels he loses thru the hassle of admitting his BS and not selling the merch. it's a human trait egged on by empathy, caring more about himself and how he appears in his world than the world as a whole and what's really true. it why we live in a world where half the people are buying xboxes for their kids and the other half can barely get their kids fresh water... willing to operate outside of a pareto equilibrium, willing to bend truth in order to hurt others for furthering our ambitions, willing to look the other way at the effects of our behaviour. whether it's outright intentional or willfully ignorant, james is not naive about what is happening here and the dms shown by ethan reveal that. if james were objectively moral he would seek truth but he is clearly corrupted by his money as everyone is to varying degrees of severity and subtlety. it's called being human. we're all shitty, but james is extra shitty in this instance. altho how would you act if you had a potential opportunity with tens of millions of dollars on the line and the only consequence was taking some market share from another company already worth tens of millions of dollars? neither of us can say for certain

Maybe he wasn't aware but his team most definitely was, besides I wouldn't expect him to have the mental capacity to come up with his own design's anyway.

David said that since it's something that COULD be true, and is nothing really worthy of lying about in the first place, Todd would pass and not be ousted as lying. And that's what happened. When it was David's turn it wasn't even questions that were super out there, it was little stuff so I don't think he was trying to brush off the embarrassment. I get what you mean, I don't think David implied that he beat the machine but more so just knew it wasn't credible since it's so easy to pass. The questions in that video weren't anything scandalous (Jason's video I mean, I haven't seen Jeff's so idk about his). I wish I could link the podcast but this was like early last year so I don't remember which it was.
