@@Phoenix-the-Poet Actually, we had plenty of autocrats and plagues that didn't result in a dark age. The first dark age was apparently caused by the collapse of global trade and conflict ("sea peoples") that may have been climate driven. The second was caused by infighting between Roman elites weakening the empire to the point where it was defeated, and again took a large chunk of global trade from Europe with it. If we have another dark age, it will likely be due to global trade collapsing.
Wow. Now I demand a video version with guys redoing Jim Carry SNL skit but dressed in medieval robes. And I expect the guys of Viva La Dirt League to be enlisted for that.
Beg mercy upon thy Lord damsel! Tis a folly to risk such ill favor, unless thy do such in secret of the underground taverns wherest the Lord's eye cannot penetrate.

@InFlames4lyf blacksmiths quite commonly reached a pretty old age up to 60 and more. they did so often enough that most peasants thought the fumes from a blacksmiths forge extended life so they would ask to huff their forge. the average life span is also much lower in medieval stats since so many died at birth. even bc people lived beyond 25 very often in rome people needed to be over 25 years old minimum to be a senator.
If they were able to live until their 50s then the could've lived much longer. High mortality was linked with young age, there were a lot of old men in medieval times, just a lot of dead infants and kids as well...

@@virgilebonnaud5525 By having money/possessions and power. Jousting is more a late medieval thing. It was at some point taken over by the high nobles from the low nobility (Knights, etc.), i think. It was more of a sport thing
@Anton Babani I didn't mean it that way. I just tried to say that a poor knight probably didn't get a baroness, no matter how many men he jousted off their mighty stallions or steeds
The thing I've always appreciated about Cornelius Link is that it really sounds like someone performing. A lot of Bardcore on RU-vid just sounds like they plugged songs into an acoustic MIDI music maker or something. If people enjoy that, far be it from me to try and take that from them, but Cornelius has always felt so much more organic and been that much closer to a "medieval" cover, silly as that sounds.
Imagine walking into the tavern right after a glorious day of battle and the bards are cooking this heat in the corner while endless mead is being served to the patrons
*Thou makest. I will grammar Nazi archaic second person singular present versus present indicative. Kids these days wyth their standardized spellings and their lack of a proper distinction between second persons singular and plural thus resulting in forms such as y'all and yins arising to take the place left by thee/thy/thou leaving putting "you" as the indistinct singular and plural. Smh.
It's crazy, you single handedly created somewhat of a new genre here on the platform! I've been seeing all other medieval covers of songs lately, ever since you uploaded yours. Awesome stuff :)
"Mother! Over yonder a bullock cart with three peasants, their heads... swaying in tandem, as if possessed! Is this the dark times of plague grandfather foretold?"
Just imagine Back to the Future going back to medieval times and Marty McFly playing this with a lyre or a hurdy gurdy lol "I supposeth thou art not yet prepared for this, but thy descendants will love it."

What is love, 'tis not hereafter, Present mirth, hath present laughter: What's to come, is still unsure. In delay there lies no plenty, Then come kiss me sweet and twenty: Youth's a stuff will not endure.
That is a quote from one of my favourite Shakespearean plays 'Twelfth Night'. Ben Kingsley sings it in the movie... He does it brilliantly. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h8kA2zx8isk.html

PSA: Thou is ruder than You. The word thou is much more intimate than You, the same way the German "du" is much less polite and less formal than Sie (not sie). You English speakers decided to ditch 'thou' while keeping plural-you and formal 'You', while we Swedes for whatever reason decided to ditch the formal 'You' and just use thou for singular and you for plural.
And then the bard, not knowing if he would ever hear back...called out to the heavens “what is love?” A question that was met with the deafening silence of the night
First instrument: “I'm a harpsichord." Second instrument: “I'm a lute." Harpsichord: “No you're not! You're that other string instrument!" Lute: “Sir, are you calling me a lyre?!"

Ok, so this is the scene I imagine. Yes. It’s a bit fantasy-esque, but bear with me. Two time travelers arrive in the medieval times. They stop at a tavern and notice that it’s... not as lively as they thought. And then the chaotic one picks up a lute and starts to strum. ... and then the tempo kicks up. The other traveler knows what’s going on. The other patrons turn to look at this finely-dressed lad with his foot on a stool, strumming away. Traveler 1: God damn it, Larry! I told you not to make a scene! Larry: *Mischievous smirk as the drums kick in* Aww Tyler! Have some fun! *The music roars to life! Everyone in the tavern is having a grand ol’ time!* Tyler: LARRY! God fucking- fine. I’ll let you have this one. ... show you memes ONE time-
So you sir, where the one that started this whole bardcore craze! Well done and your pairing with Hildegard Von Blingen is just heavenly. Please I implore the two of you not to stop.
At some point they hit a pothole and the bard falls out so they freak out then stop to pick him back up. Then they carry on as if nothing ever happened
Literally one of my favorite songs of all time and I get to experience it in medieval form??? Your doing the lords work my friend. This is absolutely phenomenal.
