Michael & Laurie’s conclusion seemed like such an afterthought. They didn’t even have Laurie react with a facial expression when she realized someone else was in the house after Allyson left. And I can’t believe how underused both Frank and Lindsey were, especially her since she’s the original actress and character from 1978. I was so hoping for a huge, MASSIVE, long chase & fight scene with Michael vs. Laurie, Lindsey and Allyson at the end throughout the whole house AND that abandoned house next door with all three women surviving. I think it would have been a very powerful ending for the three of them considering how Michael impacted each of their lives. So many missed opportunities.
@joshuaallen6450
@joshuaallen6450 Год назад
From my understanding that ending happened because the director wasn't aloud to do the ending he wrote which didn't even include Michael. So I’m happy we at least got even that much of a showdown. I read an article claiming that David Gordan Green didn’t want this to be a Michael Myers (MM) movie at all. He was focused on how someone could become like MM based on how ones environment pushed one into it or something. He also wrote an entirely different ending referencing Halloween 3 which thank goodness wasn’t green lighted…Imo this movie did not match up with the 2 before it and just didn’t belong in this trilogy which was my largest gripe. I feel like it could work as an idea but with better direction and as a pilot to a tv show called “The Evil Within” or something and get tossed on Netflix maybe. I feel like marketing knew what we wanted for a finale, but the director didn’t care and wanted to make his own movie. I usually support people who want to paint their own picture so to speak, but my time and subscription was used to sit through it and get a love story when it was marketed as a MM horror movie. If anyone hasn't seen it yet, save yourself time and fast forward to the last 5 mins and just start there. No need to see the rest. 💁‍♂️

@@MKF30 Yeah, this movie definitely breaks the continuity of his character. To paraphrase John Carpenter, "Michael isn't a character, he's a supernatural force of pure evil." The most frustrating thing about this movie was the fact that it had every resource available, budget, good actors, etc., and it was wasted. Good video lol. I absolutely loved Halloween ends amd it is my favorite horror of this year. I do agree with what you said about the opening being a one take shot that would have been great. Okay my 5 reasons 1. I loved Corey's character and his turn to evil from an abused and mistreated kid. He has a lot of similarities with Michael and laurie both which is cool. It kills me when he runs into Jeremy's mom at the bar and she goes off on him and all he can say is a shaky and somber "I'm sorry". also I love when he gets the mask and goes on his killing spree. We've all put the myers mask on and know how it feels and corey went all the way under it. 2. The whole vibe and atmosphere of the film was great, very 80s and punk and just dark and psychotic but in a good way. A lot of Christine and lost boys vibes like you said. Also the opening credits are amazing with the pumpkins emerging from eachother like the franchise shedding its skin. 3. Laurie is the best shes been since 78 imo and I loved seeing her happy and trying to live life but once she noticed the evil in corey she was all over his shit and ready to do what needed to be done. I loved the scene where she wakes corey by thumbing the chair against the wall and pretty much tells him I know what you are and you wont hurt me or allyison. 4. Yeah I dont like seeing Michael weak amd beat up but it fits this story they are telling and the way just his presence effects the town is great and chilling and I wonder if corey amd the homeless man were the only ones infected by Michael. 5. I actually love the plot and story of how evil is an infection in haddonfield caused my myers and how its spreading across the town and people and corey dealing with it all. Corey amd allyison do fall in love pretty fast but they both are very damaged people and just want someone to understand and they see that in eachother but come on man you ever fall in love at first sight I did in high school a couple times. 5.5 Also I love how Laurie's story ended she earned killing her boogeyman and happy ending with Hawkins. It's not a perfect film but a lot if not most of it worked for me and the score was amazing!!!

It blows my mind that this finale is written by the same person who did the previous 2 films. It feels like the studio realised they had 15 minutes to come up with a completed script so they handed the task to somebody who hates/is oblivious to the previous Halloween films. It's one of the most bizarre films i've ever seen. Yes, let's conclude this iconic franchise between Laurie and Michael Myers by.......making 90% of the film about some dweeb who we've never seen before going around killing people.

@oldhollywoodfan8009
@oldhollywoodfan8009 Год назад
@@peterock42 I saw the same interview. The impression I got when she said that was due to her dislike for anything scary. She doesn’t see these films like a lot of fans see them, where they’re fans of and rooting for Michael Myers. Between how scary it is and her performance in 1978, that’s what launched her career which she always emotionally expresses. Since Halloween 1978 took time to become an actual hit, what made her is her body of work that followed. In all honesty, I’m not like all the fans that love Michael. I’ve always been the fan of Jamie Lee Curtis and then Danielle Harris, hoping they would always escape. It was awesome that Michael scared me in the movies (well, some of them) but I never went to see the movies because of him. I was always rooting for them to win. It felt like this was supposed to follow 2018 but because they had to make a trilogy they stretched out the second part of the story until it was able to make 3 whole movies and it causes both the 2nd and 3rd to feel unconnected and silly. I don’t love this one but there are things I like about it 1. I like how Michael has left this dark presence over the town causing other people to murder and even commit suicide (which it doesn’t focus on enough) 2. I like that Michael feels just as human here as he did in 2018, you can almost ignore Kills and this movie works better because it would express how damaged Michael was after fighting Laurie. 3. I like that Micheal doesn’t seem to really care about much except his mask, he stayed hidden for years and only came out in force once his mask/face is taken from him. 4. I LOVE how we see him get excited and rejuvenated with killing, it’s not really supernatural but more of a mental thing where killing just makes him feel unstoppable even though he clearly isn’t. 5. In 2018 everyone disregards Laurie as crazy but once Micheal escapes they immediately blame her which isn’t right but it feels like something loved ones of the victims would think “why didn’t you stop him?” “Why didn’t you warn us?” “Why did you antagonize him?” She is being treated the same was Loomis was in the original movie even though they are both clearly in their right mind and have always been trying to warn people and stop Micheal

It definitely could have been a lot more. I don't think Ends is God-awful, but there are quite a few things that really irked me about it. First, the fact that Michael Myers was basically sidelined and hardly featured in the movie. Second, the parts where Corey was teaming up with Michael on some of the kills. That seems so out of character for Michael and something that he'd never go along with. And also, Corey being able to take Michael's mask away, then go around pretending to be him and killing people. Five reasons (plus a little extra) 1. The original film presented Michael as mixed between man, and something supernatural. But this is presented in a somewhat ambiguous way. This is the first film since the original I've seen tackle that. In every film since, I feel like it's been firmly one way or the other. There was ambiguity here. 2. The style. The film fluctuates between having the kind of shadow and atmosphere the original had, to feeling like a dark, synth wave nightmare. It's like Natural Born Killers and Drive got into a pile up with Halloween on their way to see Christine, and this film was the result. 3. The kills. There's not a lot of them, but what we get is often excellent. The DJ kill in particular may be one of the best in the series. 4. The film is character based. Most of the characters in slasher films are completely forgettable, I didn't feel that way here. Laurie, Hawkins, Allyson and Corey all have moments that give them, even for just a moment, some semblance of depth. Some of the interactions are a bit forced, but I stand by this. 5. The film has some obvious influences (the work of Stephen King, Christine in particular, is obvious) but it's one of the only films since SotW to try and do it's own thing after the original, as opposed to being a pale carbon copy (I'm a big fan of the series, but the formula, like all formulas, can get stale). 6. It followed up on the ending of Halloween 4 better than Halloween 5 did (Michael having been physically destroyed, only to have his essence leap to a new body, changing shape). 7. The whole thing is a love letter to the works of John Carpenter, with Laurie's speech to Corey about the evil outside and the evil within being almost verbatim Carpenters philosophy on horror. Is it messy? Yes. Can I understand why some would be disappointed when looking at this as the finale to a trilogy? Sure. Its got it's issues, and many criticisms I've seen are valid. That said, the movie rules, and it rests comfortably in my top five for the franchise.

I appreciated what they were trying to do with this movie. However, I think they had poor timing (doing this on the finale of a trilogy vs the first movie in a reboot or spinoff) and some poor execution.

In my opinion i think its middle of the road Halloween movie but if i have to fix it to be a masterpiece to me, have both Michael and Corey kill people around the Haddonfield and dont let to meet each other that if Corey just started killing people with ever meeting Michael and had Michael too killing people around Haddonfield and have the ending the same that would have been a masterpiece Halloween Ends to me but it didnt and it makes me dissapointed😕

I absolutely love Halloween Ends for the following reasons: 1. It pays homage and respect to John Carpenter with his past films and especially what he wanted the series to be more than about Michael. John never intended for Halloween to be a franchise and he wanted it go into an anthology route with horror taking place on Halloween and this is the closest we got for that with the exception of Season of the Witch 2. The plot/theme: Michael’s evil spreads around like a disease and trauma healing. This whole trilogy is more than about Laurie vs Michael but the town of Haddonfield dealing with Michael's evil which spreads around and infects, those around him like with Dr. Sartain in H18, the town in Kills, and now with Corey in Ends. I also love the positive message of trauma healing, society creating their monster, external evil vs internal evil, shared trauma bonding, and how you can never truly escape or kill evil it will always be there or changes shape. Halloween (2018) and Kills are the cause while Ends is the effect on what happens when a town goes through a huge amount of trauma. 3. The score. This is probably my 2nd favorite score in the entire series because it so different from the usual scores pieces we hear but it perfectly captures the Halloween atmosphere while giving it an 80s vibe towards it 4. The cinematography. This is definitely one of the best looking Halloween film and the way they incorporated the town of Haddonfield feeling like a cursed or ghost town with the use of imagery or wide shots of people going missing on billboards along with seeing the radio tower in the background which metaphors hope but also destruction for Corey. We don’t get to see a lot of Michael but you can definitely feel his presence 5. Finally giving the character, Laurie Strode her peace. After that abomination, Resurrection tarnished H20’s triumphant ending I thought we would never see Laurie getting another good send off ever again but thankfully here we are with her killing her monster, the town of Haddonfield seeing her as a hero instead of the cause of Michael’s 2018 rampage, her granddaughter moving on and out of Haddonfield to live her life, and starting a romance with Frank Hawkins. The negative reaction from half the fandom isn’t based on the quality of the film which imo is a good film it’s just people were expecting a completely different film because of the marketing and it being a final chapter of a trilogy. But once people accept it’s not that kind of film and look at it as a film as its own it will grow appreciation Overall it’s a 4.5/5 for me

You were spot-on with the Corey Feldman reference because a lot of it felt nostalgic to- it seemed like '80s dreck that you just don't see anymore. It just seemed like a low budget, bad gore fest with a directionless script and god awful acting. Again, '80s stuff.

2018 was definitive direct sequel conclusion to 1978. With that said Halloween Kills was pure fun and the most entertaining kills from Michael Myers in the series, just letting him get out there and cook.

I thought the whole concept of this movie really unique and even pretty good with the whole passing of the torch element but the problem for me is this was a massive disappointment as a final entry in this franchise. I think any hard-core Halloween fan would agree that the Finale of the whole series should focus on Laurie and Michael, not Laurie's granddaughter and some new character copying Michael. It made the entire ending with Laurie vs Michael feel out of no where and like a complete after thought. Like "Oh yeah that's right this is the ending to the series so we gotta have Michael die at the end so in the last 10 minutes we'll just have him show up and fight Laurie out of the blue." I found it disappointing but not bad, especially compared to Curse of Michael myers, Halloween resurrection, or Rob zombie's Halloween 2.

I really did enjoy this movie and Laurie Strode played by Jamie Lee Curtis she did a great job in this movie and she was awesome too and badass and her granddaughter Allyson played by Andi Matichak she did a great job too as well and she is so sexy as hell and gorgeous too and I love her as a actress too since Halloween 2018 and I really like her character in these Halloween movies and love her to death man bro and Corey Cunning played by Rohan Campbell he did a great job in this movie and he was awesome too and I didn’t mind his character at all or didn’t get the hate for his character either like most people didn’t seem to care for him but I don’t mind him but that just me though and Lindsey Wallace played by Kyle Richards she was really good in the movie but she barley in it though and she doesn’t even show up at all not ever for the ending for this movie either but she was good when she was on screen though and The Shape played by James Jude Courtney he did a good job but he barely in the movie though and I wanted to see more of Michael Myers too but I did like his fight scene with Laurie and the kills were great but some were off screen though which I didn’t not like and overall I’m gonna give Halloween Ends 2022 a 7.5/10 stars not a bad movie though but could of been little bit better though and have more of the Shape too in this movie and have the movie a little bit longer too but that just me though in my opinions on this movie John the Flick Pick bro and i'm glad that its the last installment of the Halloween franchise and it surely needs to die for once bro

Score was decent. Some great kills in here. The lead was actually a good actor. It had something to say about twisted young love and how this kind of poisonous relationship can take place. Obviously the movie isnt amazing but i could actually sit through it and have a coyple laughs, had some fun with my lady.

I thought it was okay, and I give it a 6/10 - which is passable in my book - although it is not great. The writing and acting are both solid - but it seems disjointed from the over-arching storyline from the previous movies. The idea of Corey becoming the new Myers wasn't bad, but writers yanked the rug out from underneath that one. You hit the nail on the head in that I think writers knew what they were going to do for the final 15 to 20 minutes - but needed a 90 minute movie to get to it.

I enjoyed the film but for different reasons than being a movie about Michael Myers. (Which should be a problem in itself but I digress) It had some nice kills in it. The music throughout was good. I was rooting for the antagonist to take out the idiot people of the town that seemed to be mostly full of assholes. The end fight wasn’t bad either. This is coming off of Halloween Kills which I didn’t like. This was better. I’m convinced they should’ve ended it at 2018’s Halloween with him burning in the house after that entertaining fight between Laurie and Michael. A much better end battle than what we got in Halloween Ends.

I liked pretty much, thought it was different, didnt expect much from Micheal in this one since he did his thing in H.Kills, I didnt mind the corey story since I think it was pretty accurate to what could actually happen to someone that was in his situation, and someone that has a death on his conscience that alone can get someone to go off. I like the psycological aspect but I see this movie more as a psycological movie than a horror slasher and dont mind that. I also think the storyline between Corey and the girl was a stretch but it was still okay.

It would be interesting how they bring the Halloween series back after this. Happy Halloween John! 🎃

The concept is oke. The execution is terrible. The Corey storyline is thrown in the bin after they threw in Michael Myers. It was so unsatisfying how he was killed off. You place a character in a movie for 80 minutes and then kill him and nobody cares at all. Why did we watch this then? And it all takes away from the "epic conclusion" of this series. Just a baloney kitchen fight between Laurie and Myers that lasted for 2 minutes. The movie doesn't do Michael Myers/Halloween right and the new idea with Corey didn't do anything for the story. A new/fresh idea doesn't make it a good movie. Execute it is another story.
