Pretty similar thoughts for this movie. Only thing is, tobys Spider-Man definitely suffered the most out of all of them. He feels responsible for uncle Ben’s death, was bullied in high school, best friend’s dad turned out to be a sadistic murderer that killed himself trying to kill Spider-Man. Then he was struggling with balance in his life so he psychosomatically lost his powers due to stress and depression. Then his friend turned foe killed himself while saving the city Then after having a tense relationship with his best friend who discovered his identity and tried to kill him once, his friend finally changed his mind to helping peter in the end. Only to die in the same manner that his evil father was killed Andrew’s Spider-Man had abandonment issues, lost his girls father and then his girl. Although his girl’s death was her own fault as she stupidly had no business being there. Don’t even get me started with Tom’s Spider-Man. Peter had everything handed to him in the first two mcu movies, so in this movie he was forced with difficult choices that turned him from iron boy to spiderman.

The scene that gave me those feels was when Doc Ock reunited with Toby's Spiderman. When he asked Peter, "How are you?" And Peter replied, "Trying to do better". I swear I couldn't believe what I was witnessing.

i truly think this movie gave us the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man we were promised. it really showed the fact that he is a fan & with some actual good writing he can nail it. Andrew absolutely stole the show for me. No shade to Tobey or (especially) Tom cause they killed it too

Andrew Garfield is the best Spider-Man Tobey was the best Peter Parker. And Tom nailed both Spider-Man and peter in his own way. That’s just my opinion though.

My biggest praise of this movie is that in the 3rd act of the film they actually went back and revisited the whole identity crisis of Peter storyline with this time Peter making a mature decision to make EVERYONE forget he’s spider man and I was so relieved they didn’t just forget about it when the multiverse stuff starts to kick in although it was really fun seeing these characters return.

One small inconsistency that annoyed me was Tobey recalling Harry dying in his arms after trying to kill him, completely leaving out the part where Harry saved his life and helped him fight Venom and Sandman. There was also a missed opportunity I think to have Andrew make a sixth cure, revealing it before he and Tobey are teleported away. Tom asks who it’s for, and Andrew says it’s for a friend on his world who got sick because of him. The implication that it’s for Harry. This movie teaching him that the villains aren’t always in control of themselves, and he should give those who wronged him another chance. Andrew then gestures up to Ned, and this is where Peter runs to see him and MJ.

Andrew Garfield and Willem Defoe really stole each scene they were in. I was glad they gave Garfield’s Spider-Man the redemption he deserved. Definitely hit the feels with that one. And I’m hyped for the next trilogy just off the last scene with the homemade suit. We’ll get to finally see him actually be Spider-Man!

For me, while Tobey and Andrew reprising their roles is cool, Charlie Cox coming back as Daredevil was my huge freakout moment. DD is my favorite comic book character and Charlie's performance got me to start reading comics

John, maybe you noticed this, but in the end was MJ wearing the broken Black Dahlia necklace Peter gave her at the end of FFH? I thought it was a nice way for him to remind her of who he was. My favorite parts were just all the Spider-Men talking with each other. And even more emotional than May’s death was the recounting of the loss each of the other Peters. As well as the good natured attitude of Andy Garfield Peter acknowledging that he was “Spider-Man 3.” I kind of felt Andy Peter needed a hug the whole movie.

I think this is the best MCU film bar Winter Soldier and Infinity War. The writing was brilliant, the emotional weight and consequences in the second half of it made it outstanding. Plus it might even bring back Garfield for another much better movie, which would be much appreciated!

I think Dr. Strange casting the spell makes total sense. How would I say this but he is a risk taker kinda like Tony. They like to help others break boundaries and try to experiment on things. Also their arrogant nature helps them in that regard because they believe in themselves and think they are the best. They know the risks but they are willing to take that risk. Dr.Strange has done that already many times. Also great review I agree with you most of the points. I think this is the best Spider-Man movie with the original 1 and 2. And after that Far From Home. I think they will bring back Ned and MJ in the future tho even tho it was bittersweet kinda like in the original one. Spider-Man needs time on his own and to do some spidey shit and figure out his own shit before involving Ned and MJ in his life.

The greatest live action Spiderman movie ever! I was especially happy about Garfield returning he needed some closure and he got it in a terrific poignant way saving MJ. All actors were amazing. Holland's portrayal was his most complete because of the darkest story. I like that at the end Peter decides to stop depending on Stark technology and by making his own costume making a new start. This movie felt like the old Spiderman movies with Tobby old-fashioned in a good way, not like a Marvel mass product.

Pretty sure Damage Control confiscated all his tech after the Mysterio incident, which is why the Stark AI wasn't online in his Iron Spider suit. He doesn't seem to have a choice in the matter. I assume Stark Industries being investigated and having it's technology seized is going to be explored more in the Armour Wars show.

Only the uneducated ones don’t know this or you’re just too delusional and not understand what’s really going on here. This movie is a 👎👎👎. Only in Kevin Feige’s dumb little mind that Spider-Man can beat Dr.Strange in dr.strange own dimension when we all really know that dr.strange is way more powerful than Spider-Man. Also, Dr.Strange can make Spider-Man not escape from him without even trying especially in his own dimension. Don’t y’all see what’s going on here? Kevin Feige is slowly nerfing marvel characters. He did it to hulk already and now it’s Dr. Strange turn. Open your eyes people. Not rocket science to figure this one out if you have a brain 🤣🤣🤣

My understanding was he thought Peter would be more cautious bc he thought “if this kid fought Thanos on Titan w us and only died bc he snapped then he must be pretty mature” and Doctor Strange did know it was a big ask which I think is why he freaked out when he found out Peter didn’t call someone first. Which I’m sure disappointed Strange. I mean if I fought the personification of the apocalypse I’d assume I must be pretty mature as well.

I’m really excited for the future Spiderman flicks. I wasn’t expecting that kind of ending either but it gives so much weight to who Spiderman really is and how strong he is to still be the fun, webslinging guy with the quips after having dealt with so much. By far my personal favorite Spiderman movie and I particularly loved Andrew in this film. Chills just thinking about everything this movie delivered!

Yo John, love the idea of popcorn but never have I ever had a website crash on me so many times. It took me 2 hours to get through everything because the website kept glitching. The footage was super choppy and I was never given the option to comment on the footage I was seeing like it said I would be able to. Excellent review and I agree completely with everything you brought up, but I am shocked you didn't mention Matt Murdock / Daredevil officially becoming cannon in the MCU. And as a side note in Hawkeye on Disney + they also made Wilson Fisk / Kingpin cannon as well. I loved that Daredevil show so much I was bummed when they said those stories are alternate timeline legends that aren't cannon in the overall MCU timeline. For me that was the biggest reveal because Charlie Cox and Vincent D'onofrio are perfectly cast as those characters.

When I was in the theatre, the crowd went more nuts for Andrew than Tobey and I think that's because a lot of people feel he's the most underrated spiderman and were happy to see him get another shot at playing the character!

Top 2 moments: Spidey sense going bananas when Goblin appears in the apartment. God damnit, that scene was beyond perfect. Goblin is marvels Joker imo, and Dafoe is AMAZING as Goblin. ASM catching MJ. That hit me like a ton of bricks. Made even more perfect by both their comments in the end: Garfields Spidey tearfully asking "are you ok?" and MJ retorting "are YOU ok?" sensing his distress. Just....absolutely fantastic, and it made me SO happy I cannot overstate it.

Personally really like the first half of the movie. I loved how we see how the ending of far from home affects not just Peter's future, but the future of his friends. Plus Daredevil made a cameo.

@ 11:22, Harry Osborn tells him that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, but Electro has never actually seen or met Peter Parker. So he knows who he is, but not what he looks like. Which is why he mentions that he always thought he was black.

John, Dr. Strange said there's a "universal hive mind" when it comes to the people that know Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Venom in Spider-Man 3 knew that Peter is Spider-Man, and it can be assumed that in another universe, Electro found out Peter is Spider-Man. Note that the other film universes we see in this Spider-Man film, are a variation of the ones we've seen - Hence Sandman not looking human, and Electro looking human.

It is possible that electro found out spiderman was Peter Parker in the final act of ASM 2 he very well could have heard Gwen call him Peter and since max (electro) is obsessed with spiderman he knows that it is possible that Peter sold pictures of spiderman there fore he makes the connection that Peter Parker is Spider man which also would explain why he thought he was black because he never saw his face just a theroy

It saddens me the hate aimed at Marc Webb's Spidey films, but to each his own i guess. I was pleasantly surprised with both TASM flicks, but seeing this film connecting nearly 20 years of Spider-Man movies was a dream come true and I'm just so happy that it did. 11:30 I could be wrong but I believe that Harry tells Electro that Peter Parker is Spider-Man and he needs his blood? It could make sense that Electro knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, but doesn’t actually know who Peter is or what he looks like.

I love this movie so much but I have a few questions how does Otto know Norman is the green goblin. How was electro and Eddie Brock get pulled into the mcu when neither one of them knew peters identity. What was sandman’s motivation cause he should’ve been a good guy right. But he was helping the bad guys. And how did a bit of venom stay in the mcu it doesn’t make sense if Eddie went back home

It wasn’t until Jamie Foxx was announced to return that the conversation turned to the multiverse. The way Far From Home ended made it seem like they were setting up a more grounded Spider-Man story where he has to prove himself. I honestly expected a Ghostbusters II style opening act where Peter is in court being defended and attacked by several characters he’s met along the way, spending the rest of the movie on the run and being slandered while proving himself. There were early rumors as well as recent reports that originally Kraven being set up for the villain which seems more in tone with what the film was meant to go for, the multiverse idea coming off pretty last minute. It ultimately paid off, and I really enjoyed the film we got, but the seeds for what could have been are still very much present.

my one complaint is I would of liked to have heard the Danny Elfman music a bit more ? we got little moments of it but it would have been cool to hear it in a big action scene with Tobey macguire's spider man ? but honestly thats just a nit pick...the movie is near on perfect ! 10/10 !!!!!

Yeah, Andrew had like a three punch combo for his intro! 1. The portal opening showing his distinct big eyes *(gasps and clapping)* 2. Him jumping out of the portal *(Cheering and applause)* 3. Taking the mask off *(screaming like it's a frickin' AC/DC concert)* My crowd as just as loud as when Cap picked up the hammer. It definitely took the piss out of Tobey's intro a bit, but my crowd was still super loud for him too. I didn't mind though, Andrew is my favorite and I'm glad people are finally praising his portrayal as much as I have for the last 8 years.

I think Tobey would have gotten the bigger reaction if he had been introduced first and actually I don't know why he wasn't introduced first the order in which they were introduced was a very odd to say the least but it worked. But I did like that he was stressed up as a cool youth pastor

Others have mentioned it but since their villains play such smaller roles in comparison to the other three it would have made no sense to have brought the man and you never know maybe they wanted them on set and they were scheduling conflicts you just never know cuz scheduling these types of big blockbuster movies is really really complicated especially with what's currently going on in the world

I thought of something. Does this mean that Tobey’s Spider-Man is stronger than Toms Spider-Man? Cause whenever tobeys spiderman fought the green goblin you can see him causing damage to him. And toms Spider-Man hallway fight scene, he kept striking the goblin and all he did was laugh at him

fun fact they actually considered bringing back Nicholas Hammond for a tongue-in-cheek cameo but it was cut out to do to pacing and run time.
