It finally answered our question about what Reach was. I remember playing this as a kid and wondering what Cortana meant by "Tracking us all the way from reach"
Playing this game when it first came out was magical. I was seven years old. We had a week off school due to snow and between playing outside and coming in and playing the snow missions, words just can’t describe it. I’m having my first child here in a few months, a boy. I can’t wait till he is old enough to play this, I’m gonna show him this game on his first snow day off from school. A new Halo fan is soon to enter this world!
Badass my big bro showed me halo 2 way back and I was hooked, now my son and I are campaiging through the entire series on master chief collection, its an awesome feeling best of luck to you
Tomorrow marks 15 years that Microsoft jumped into the gaming market with only one game as a launch title. And that game has taken its place among the most legendary games of all time and can beat any modern-day shooter that was released into overrated consoles nowadays. Halo: Combat Evolved turns 15 tomorrow.
@@tonyrandall3146 Bungie didn't jump in the console market silly..he talking about the Xbox. Microsoft built the console and entered the gaming scene and decided to Have Halo be a launch title. They gave Bungie the prototype Xbox hardware and the console launch date launch date to finish the game by.
The armour they use is the trooper armor from reach so my guess they're survivors of reach unsc army planet defence while marines were since on the final mission with the enclosed helmets
I've been playing the heck out of the campaign for this game since getting it. Been about 5 years or so since I last played the singleplayer portion of this game but it still holds up remarkably well. In fact, even all these years later it's still my favorite FPS.
"Attention all personnel: We are re-engaging the enemy. External and internal contact imminent." This is IMHO still the most badass line in the whole game. Especially with the music in the background and the col. following with his "All you greenhorns" etc.
As soon as I heard the Halo music from the main menu, I wanted to cry because it brought all of the memories from 10 years ago. Halo is always part of me.
“5th platoon secure airlocks on deck 11, 14th platoon rendezvous with 22nd tactical at bulkhead Charlie 14” this line has stuck with me since I first played Halo and I have no idea why
@@multitudeshoesinc8902 my bad, thought he was talking about Sergeant Johnson, although Keyes looks drastically older then he was here in H2 Anniversary 😅
Actually, all the Halo games were XBOX exclusives for their first year or so. Halo 1 and 2 were both ported to PC quite a while after their XBOX release.
So many things they changed for this remaster, including the very cinematic opening of just showing the ring first with that ominous sound effect. It was just perfect.
I got my hands on this game and it kills me how amazing it is and how long the past 10 years have been Thank You 343 and Thank you for rehashing my past :)
While i think about it I don't think they were even planning to have poa escape from planet reach during ce's development because when cortana said "as for tracking us all the way from reach" it didn't mean the planet but it meant that the covenant ships tracked poa all the way from thier grip, thier reach, because a backstory wasn't actually planned back then that until eric nylund wrote the expanded universe, and created planet reach entirley from that line , that word alone Now imagine how much lore would've changed if that line got modified to something like "as for tracking us all the way from we left" We'll lose a whole damn book, a mastepiece of a prequel and thousands of lines worth of lore Its amazing how a single line and play of words can change and add alot to the universe of a game, its a butterfly effect
Amazing story. Crazy to know only a handful of human survivors survived this incident. The entire pillar of autumn gets destroyed. They all barely managed to succeed in destroying halo. All those deaths were not in vain!
Runescapehalofreak Halo 2 Anniversary has superior graphics technology than Halo 1 Anniversary, and with reason. You can expect aesthetical differences to appear between games. I don't find it to be a big deal. Maybe you do, but I think people do excessive nitpicking agaisn't 343. They're not so bad. I'm quite focused on how Halo 5 will come out now. And the messages I have heard so far are good. They're listening to the vast majority of complaints and act in consequence.
It's strange how even though I was 4 when Halo first came out, and I couldn't even hold a controller, my first memory of a video game is when I watched my brother play the this level. But now with the remake I will get to relive my memories as though it were yesterday... Like if this reminded you of your first time seeing Halo to celebrate what I consider the best game series of all time!
@Captainofbadasssquad I also remember the days of playing this when it first came out. I'm right there with you, I'm one of the people who enjoyed Halo Wars (even though the story sucked) and loved every Halo game, but there was something else that was extra special about the first Halo. something mysteriously mystic and wonderful.
@legoman365 The Pillar of Autumn crew was already in the orbit of Reach when the battle took place, and they left before the Shaw-Fujikawa Slip Space drive took damage from the Covenant ships weapons. They made a blind-jump, meaning that they didn't plug in coordinates for a jump destination in hopes that the Covenant couldn't track them, but Covenant tracking tech let them follow the "worm-hole" that the Shaw opened for slip space travel. So the "Greenhorns" that Sgt. Johnson refers to never
I can't understand why they changed the way Keys reacts when Cortana tells him about the "multiple CCS class battle groups". In the original you had a close up of his face as he closed his eyes when she got to "make it 3 capital ships per group." This was a very powerful bit IMO, perfectly expressed how hopeless the situation is and that the captain knows it. Here (facelift-)Keys doesn't react AT ALL. He generally seems way less expressive than the old Keys, ironically.
Came here after the latest episode of the Halo series. Captain Keyes speaks the first line of first Halo game to be released.. And they killed him on Reach.. FFS, he is such a crucial character in the events of the first Halo.
@xXAUTUMNofSOLACEXx The reason that Nobles teams members have their own personality quirks is because of them being spartan threes. Thats also why they appear smaller compared to George, and more normal size to fellow soldiers. Three's never received bio-augumentation on the level of the Two's. Also, if you havent caught on by now, George is a spartan two, stationed with Noble team. When Dr. Hasley reacts to his armor, thats because he modified the S-2 Mk. 5 armor he should have.
@jimcoolfilms I do actually. -New weapons -New vehicles -New armor -New campaign -Armor customization -Big difference in graphics -New multiplayer maps -Online play -Firefight -Forge -New gametypes -More playlists CoD doesn't have all of these changes but it sure as hell has alot of them.
1:00 "Improper salute, you fatbody!" 1:19 "You again! Vanish off my bridge you maggot!" 1:41 "Oh look! Chubs is attempting to cardio! Mark your calendars, people!"
In the original Captain Keyes closes his eyes for a moment in worry, when Cortana tells him about the "3 capital ships per group". I think they should have kept that in, it really emphasized in what a hopeless situation they were...
@SinDawg030 I thought it was incredible that even the Flooded Keyes still had it hahaha. I'm still looking forward to this anyway. A billion more hours of entertainment, yet to be had!!
