Halo: Combat Evolved on Steam Deck | Nostalgic Gameplay with Gyro Controls (No Aim Assist!)

In this video, I share my experience playing the classic game Halo: Combat Evolved as part of the Halo Master Chief Collection (MCC) on my Steam Deck. Despite being over 20 years old, the game still holds up well compared to most AAA titles today. I also show how the game works surprisingly well with gyro controls, allowing me to play without aim assist. The Steam Deck is such an amazing system and being able to play the definitive versions of your favorite games with an incredible control scheme is pure bliss and is everything I ever wanted out of this console and more.

Couldn‘t agree more with your praise for Halo CE. I revisited the Master Chief Collection on my Steam Deck and had an absolute blast. Didn‘t use gyro despite hearing it‘s more than a gimmick so I might try that one too when I‘m reunited with my beloved Deck tomorrow!

I've been thinking of getting the Masterchief collection since I haven't played the first game or it's rushed and crunched in 10 months sequel because I was born the year combat involved released.

Halo CE was the first game I finished on the deck. I used gyro and I'm currently on Halo 3.

The gyro sensor on the steam deck is sooo good. I just received mine, and I tried hl2 with community gyro - amazing. Got myself masterchief collection last year. I'm gonna smack all of those on my steam deck :) I want to see team fortress 2 gameplay with gyro, people say it's very good

On the final boss area in the Maw playing through using your gyro control scheme. I didn't watch this vid before doing so however so didn't set the in game mouse sensitivity to 1.6. Oh well, better late than never! Awesome game, really fun play through. Would your control scheme for Combat Evolved be suitable for Halo 2? Thinking of tackling these games in chronological order

I believe the sensitivity settings scale 1:1 between all MCC titles. So yes, it should work for Halo 2 just as well :) EDIT: also, the 1.6 sensitivity is just a suggestion. It’s how I find the game to feel most enjoyable, but everyone’s preference can be different, so stick to what feels good for you.
