Halo Combat Evolved Pre-release Analysis: Part 3 - E3 2000 

This is my favorite era of pre release halo 1. Love the designs.

Bungie reused the red elite's line from 3:35 for Truth in Halo 3

Fun fact...the Spectre in halo 2 is still called the Shadow in the gamefiles at least in its technical terms....and the Shadow(the troop transport thing in New Mombasa) is actually called Creep. And the halo CE fuel rod gun in the CE mulitplayer(the gearbox PC port) is called PlasmaCannon in the gamefiles...

I wish we got this game too. Old school morrowind graphics in open world games is such a hard hitting thing for me. Idk if it's nostalgia or just a love for that archaic old design limitations but it would be so much fun still to be had in an older open world halo full of quests and bases to take over and elites to kill from afar

Love these videos but the English Elite makes sense -- the other two are communicating with each other hence using their own language. The red Elite is specifically talking to a human and thus uses a language the human will understand. I assume the true is in the final games -- in Reach & CE, the Elites/Covenant use their own language (i.e. wort wort wort) but with Halo 2, now that we take control of the Arbiter and see things from their side, their dialogue is translated for our benefit rather than relying on subtitles... but then Arbiter and Chief meet, then later Arbiter communicates with Johnson and Keyes so outside of sci-fi translators, which may also be the case canonically, then the other assumption is that he is *actually* speaking English to the humans while the rest of the game it can be assumed he's speaking in their own language.

Can't wait for this game. Looks amazing!
