I often forget just how damned BIG Chief really is. The scene of him walking through the training bay always makes me laugh. He looks like he's walking through a daycare.
He's not actually they huge though, Halo 4 absolutely dropped the ball on scaling. He's only meant to be like a couple inches taller than Palmer yet he's depicted as like a foot and a half taller.
There's still something to be said for the lore/story telling aspect that must be appreciated in the fact that John is fucking massive compared to literally every other human. I feel like they made him really skinny and tall and it kinda took away from the visuals that could have been used to portray Spartan-II's.
@@zombieoutbreakprod yup. I get the whole "modernized armor" idea, but armor is still armor ffs. CE armor looks more protective. Sure, give it more nooks and hooks and details, but don't actually make the armor smaller.
@@cpncorndogg Well, the armor is meant to withstand a massive damage from all kind of alien rifles so small impact to the ground is rather nothing at all.
in the books I think it was 1 ton, been awhile since I read them though. oh and he literally fell from space I think 6 feet isn't going to do anything.
@@cpncorndogg the dude literally fell through the atmosphere from space on multiple occasions I'm sure it can withstand falling 5-6 feet to the ground lol
John doesn't make any reservations about having a life. He understands that he is more important with his purpose as a weapon than anything else. He only cares about completing the mission and keeping his friends alive. His life was taken from him, he can't get that time back. He CAN however save millions with the gifts that have been given to him. Ending of Halo 3: "Wake me when you need me". He started Halo coming out of Cryo and ended Halo going into Cryo. It was a near masterpiece of an ending.
He was part of a larger program, the rest were killed... The books give better detail about the programs and the events leading up to the first halo game
Master Chief isnt the only human who is fighting to save humanity lol. Theres hundreds of other Spartans and millions of other Humans doing the same thing.
@@TheKessi1000 on top of this the librarian in halo 4 explains that it was his literal cosmic destiny. He was born to become humanities savior. If he hadn’t been abducted into the Spartan program he would have been killed in a glassing. He may have gotten his life ripped away from him by ONI but he would have died and so would have all life in the galaxy otherwise.
I remember grinding through Halo 4 on Legendary when I was 13 just to see chief's face right at the end. Definitely one of my greatest gaming moments that I will remember forever
@@ShadowGundam1989 I wasn't responding to you. I was responding to Luke. You're a millennial so of course you admire Halo CE like me. I'm also a millennial.
@@KuChiPhuc Marines: "Masterchief, there're no enemies in the area, why are you crouching there in the corner?" Masterchief : "Just leave me alone for 5 goddamn minutes, will ya?!"
I just love how the seriousness of his presence was conveyed. Everyone stopped what they were doing to witness this Titan walk in and take off his armor. He towers over everyone and everything around him. Just goes to show how Spartan IIs we’re not to be toyed with
@@StarWarsUniversity well maybe, but you gotta remember that this man is a living legend, he literally is an action figure for children. He is the hero that inspired all of those men and women to become spartans in the first place. Now imagine if someone of that caliber, someone who is known by just about everyone for their deeds walked in like that. In addition, for almost all of those spartans that is the first time they are seeing the mythic character that is the Master Chief. Of course they are all like "Woah wtf, is that the Chief? holy shit that guy is a legend even amongst us". In their position would you not be looking to see what's up? Especially when you remember that the master chief was believed to be dead, so his return is a big deal. Imagine you're in a locker room after a game of basketball and Kobe Bryant walked in, your mind would be racing, you would definitely want to know what's up, now times that by ten and you have your answer of whether or not people would react the way they do.
@UCWdKZACAaqoMfIVTYII3laA spartan 2s were literally kidnapped children given clones that died a month later. That were then subjected to deadly training and mutations making even the smallest ones around 6'9" then slapped in absurdity heavy power armor and told go on secret black ops missions to kill human rebels while we hide your existence. Then aliens show up and they get deployed like ghosts. Glimpses and rumors spread but no confirmations ever. Then the only one that anyone actually truly knows exists and hes also the one with the best combat record just strolls up next to you. Please try to say everyone in the room wouldnt stop dead to look. Youd be a lying fuck.
Kinda reminds my of the doom slayer a bit. Imagine hell and the covenant going crazy on the universe and chief and slayer both just show up to rip and tear.
"As the armour segments fell away one by one, the other Spartans in the gantry and the walkways turned to see for themselves as the last piece, the Master Chief's helmet, was slowly removed until at last they finally beheld the face of the legendary warrior; their hero, their comrade. It was a tough, hard and frightening face, marred in several places by vicious-looking scars and other legacies of battle and boasted a bruised and battered but unbroken nose. The hair, though close-cropped was dark and stubbly. It was the eyes however, that made it truly terrifying. Cold as ice, glaring and all-seeing, they were as black as a drop of tar with virtually no pupil or iris visible and stared out at everything and everyone with a blazing intensity, focus and unwavering determination, bespeaking a man who had weathered cataclysms, slain titans and faced down almost-certain death uncountable times, all without a moment's pause and had come out victorious on the other side ready to fight all over again without hesitation."
I love how everyone in the building stops what they're doing and just watches as Chief strolls down the hall. The sheer mystery and respect everyone has for him really shows in that scene.
Is not that bad, chill. Take it for what it is, a casual mainstream AAA game, from a casual mainstream AAA franchise. If you want real good games, you dont exactly go and play "Halo", or any of its other iterations. So yeah.. Stop acting like halo 5 is so bad. Not like the series is objectively super good anyways.
@@zombieoutbreakprod They did have an idea for a halo 4 but it's not the same as what 343i did. Well never actually know because bungies scrapped halo 4 never made it past the idea stage. Halo 4 is all 343i, writing and all.
@Lucy In Disguise Thank you. I knew I read about that somewhere. I was just confused because the way I read the sentence I thought you were saying Halo and Doom and Wolfinestien are in the same universe
Doomguy pretty much travels through the multiverse now so I hope we get a game where he pops into Halo’s universe and wrecks alien ass with Chief or the two fight
That's because covenant are so freaking big. Jackals are nearly 7ft themselves, and grunts are the size of short humans (5'6) but are also incredibly thicc for their height. Elites are practically the size of horses if they stood up on two legs, brutes are around 9-11 feet, and hunters... Well yeah hunters are just hunters. They're like 13-14 feet tall. So, in game, you forget that chief is actually an extremely large human, but still nothing compared to the covenant.
I wish they would do a remaster of Halo Reach... my most favorite of all the Halo's. I can't explain it... like I actually felt like I was there on Reach when it fell. EDIT: When I wrote this I didnt realize there was an MCC edition of Reach and I here by retract my previous statement. It really doesn't need more revision.
Something i've never really thought of about Halo 4's ending is that Chief walks into the main Spartan training area, and they're shocked to see him because he's basically the last Spartan II at that point. I know Blue Team and some others are around at the time but they were doing secretive missions and were not on the infinity a lot or in the public eye. Chief doesn't consider himself a legend, or a hero, he's just a soldier. He completes the mission, and goes home. He's humble, probably much more humbled after Cortana died.
2:54 , This is the part where I literally started to get emotional and actually shed a tear, the journey with chief, hit the feels, and taking that armor off felt mix feelings from the journey from my childhood gameplay to now.
I know most people didn’t like Halo 4 but man I loved the story especially the relationship between Cortana and chief, being more than what we got in past halo games
Those personnel were wearing HVAC suits not to protect Chief, but themselves. Chief ain't had his armor off in over 10 years..... Kinda ripe in there....
The new spartans will never know what it’s like to wear their armor for literally decades without taking it off. Watching Chief take his armor of is a relief just to watch. With that being said though he must be dumb fast without his armor.
I didn't mind how serious they took halo 4, they've all been serious but halo 4 had a damn good campaign for what the game was. One of the most impactful, deep and emotional halo stories. Hope halo infinite does all the halos (excluding 5) justice
This suit really fit the vibe of the game, I have no problem with it, maybe if it weren’t a halo game or like an alternate universe then it would be more loved
@@smithsmith1956 height doesnt = strength. You wish you were just generally yoked, not just tall. Fuck dude, you're already tall and wonder why you get screwed with. Its about how you carry yourself, if youre 6' 235 and cant scare a soul, its bc youre not imposing at all, maybe have a baby face. But thats not really a problem unless you got some weird ego that feels the need for people to respect you out of subconscious fear.
It's retarded though because it shows how inconsistent 343i is, she's meant to be 6ft 9 and chief is 7ft yet in that scene he's like over a foot taller than her.
@@jamesflowers1295 its because no local coop and the trailers said something very different to what was in game. I never saw those trailers till AFTER i finished halo 5 so my experience wasnt jaded. Didnt like the nerf to the binary rifle initially but it grew on me once i learned how great it is as a antivehicle weapon. And i love the splinter grenade.
I know I’ll probably get flak for this but I could truly care less I think once 343 came in and bought Halo they did not do a good job for their first few games but I think Infinite is where they have learned from their errors hopefully lol
I don't think people get how tall Chief really is. Those soldiers you see are already the cream of the top, surely already taller than the average humans and yet he dwarfs them.
The ending cutscenes over exaggerates chief’s height. When you play the story of halo 4 and 5, chief is slightly taller than lock and Palmer. I think he is about 2 inches taller.
No matter how “meh” Halo 4 was I can’t lie. This scene I fucking love, it’s awesome. “Humanity stands as the greatest threat in the galaxy, refusing to eradicate them is a fools gambit” Fucking awesome
Imagine a 7 foot tall 1000 pound manifestation of pure determination and willpower sprinting 60 mph at you. I mean even without his armor he’s still 6’10” and 287 pounds and can sprint in burst of 34 mph and has a reaction speed of 20 milliseconds. That would be like trying to fight a massive Jason Bourne on steroids and cocaine.
@@gustasborusas6355 All the sources I’ve seen has put him between 6’7” and 6’10”, I’ve yet to see anything saying he’s 6’5”. Even according to Wikipedia (which derived their source from halo) and the fandom says he’s 6’10” without his armor.
So the two reasons i see that people hate halo 5 is 1. No local coop. 2. The trailers showed us something very different from what we got. I never saw the trailers so i didnt go in expecting either chief or locke to die.
@@Arktosum_ halo 4s campaign and gameplay was solid. With halo 5 i never saw the trailers save the one that had knights of cidonia playing. So i went into the game expecting nothing and enjoyed it all the more because of it. Didnt like that it didnt have local coop.
Most armor covers vital organs and limbs only. In the halo universe the black suit under the armor is also armor, being a triweave of multiple alloys. The other items like chest plate etc are for extra protection and housing internal software, battery for shields etc.
Came to see this legendary clip again. Imagine....just him walking stopped everyone doing what they were doing lol, he truly was A LEGEND known throughout the universe. And it really put it into perspective how HUGE he was when he passed Palmer LOL
The Legend of all Legends. after saving all of humanity (and every single life of every species in the galaxy) for a second time, he disappears into the void for 4 years only to suddenly and unexpectedly reappear to save all of humanity.... Again. With the reputation he has through the Human military AND the entirety of the Covenant, his legend will become immortalized through at least 2 galactic civilizations... Gotta love The Demon.
@@hermitsunite953 …. No. That’s a splinter group. There’s different clans, the clan that Din ( the Mandalorian) is apart of don’t take their helmets off. Other clans do so
I know the scale is a little off, but I just think its pretty funny. They have to hand use the machines to get his armor off cause he is too big to use the wheels xD. Every other spartan there gets to go for a little ride in and out of their armor. And then there is John "Im to big for this ride" 117.
When he took off that armor I got that feeling when you take off something you’re wearing like a backpack on a hot summer day and the cool breeze hits your sweaty ass back.
"In this hour of victory, we taste only defeat. I ask why. We are Forerunners, guardians of all that exists. The roots of the galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun towards which all intelligence blossoms. And the impervious shelter beneath which it has prospered. I stand before you. Accused of the sin of ensuring Forerunner ascendancy. Of attempting to save us from this fate where we are forced to... recede... Humanity stands as the greatest threat in the galaxy. Refusing to eradicate them is a fool's gambit. We squander eons in the darkness, while they seize our triumphs for their own. The Mantle of Responsibility, for all things, belongs to Forerunners alone! Think of my act as you will. But do not doubt the reality. The reclamation... has already begun. And we are hopeless to stop it"
Shame they didn't make this scene longer before getting to the helmet. I would've loved to see more sweeping shots of the Spartan IV's gathering around as his armor dropped piece by piece. This was a great scene, but could've been made better if it was longer, to really give you the goosebumps and sheer awe the other Spartans were in because of Chief's presence and him having his armor taken off. We got to see so little in this scene, and it could've been made more whole with more shots, slowly sweeping camera shots of the Spartan IV's, shots of Chief when his armor falls, and shots from behind Chief to see the Spartan IV's witnessing what is essentially a once in a lifetime event
