The reason Riz got fucked up so bad is because she had already had so much damage from the battle. Her shields didn't have time to recover between the fight and the grenade going off.

1) I think Kai jumped ship before it crashed, so didn't take the full brunt of the explosion 2) Riz got stuck with a plasma grenade, which, well, sticks to organic services and explodes with scorching plasma. Her shields were also down at this point Anyway, as a long time fan of the franchise, I really enjoyed the show (though it's not without it's flaws) and am looking forward to season 2.

If Cortana uses the airship early in the fight, it was a high chance of being shot out of the sky. And that was the only ride they have. They didn't know where the landing bay for the other ships will be at.

To be fair, if the Super Condor was their only way of actually bringing the artifact away from the covenant, bringing in the ship earlier while there were still "hundreds of covenant" would have been literally the dumbest thing imaginable. there's a reason why in the books and games, chief will clear an LZ before a pelican comes in. They even joke about it in halo 4 when Laskey asked chief "you have any experience clearing LZ's?" "On occasion." The only time that doesn't happen is when the pelican isn't mission critical and is deploying troops or vehicles, or providing some air support.

Kai catching hold of the ledge was a nod to Halo CE level The Maw - The Horse You Rode In On, where Chief survives a crashing banshee and get's into the Pillar of Autumn through one of the escape pods exit, so Kai probably jumped out of the ship before it actually crashed just like OG Master Chief did back in 2001 I think with the grenade, it was a Plasma Grenade. Plasma itself is extremely hot and Riz got hit under the Mjolnir chest piece, so it was just the undersuit which doesn't provide that much protection from plasma grenades and the shields were low I'm just hoping they listen and make season 2 worthwhile, I don't feel an obligation but it's just that I may be too supportive and I want to see this show rise up as it did in the gaming world, afterall it's Halo

Didn't think about that nod to the games. Pretty cool. It was fun to see Halsey writing in the same journal that was packaged with Halo Reach special editions. I got mine out when I saw it, lol. I should look for the exact page.

I always assumed she jumped out before it crashed. I'm not sure why people think she stayed onboard. Also, Halsey left in a different escape pod was my interpretation. Ie. Kai ran after her but loses sight, Halsey ducks into a different one while her clone goes in that one OR Halsey is smart enough to see this coming and was already in the pod when Kai came onboard. Switching her clone out without telling Adun. So it's the clone Kai chases the whole time.

Kai had her shield full and riz didn't because she was beat up a bit. i think 🤔 and Kwan is now ruler and Soren gets what he wants a high sought after resource and a new ship.

This show is easily the best video game adaptation of all time, can be improved, but marvelous. You two were behaving like the making of show was a piece of cake, Remember it is very easy to sit and say this could have been done instead of this or this this this. The entire cast and crew did a great job. Can't wait for the next season

I know many don't like this show, many never watching past the pilot, but I really enjoyed it for what it was. Couple of points: Even Spartans can die to plasma grenades. Not knowing, or at least not accepting it in context of the show, is a silly take, imo. Time passed between 125, knowing she was going down, til actually seeing it crash. They threw in more, "bad," Pablo running. Maybe she jumped out, before it hit. As far as Kwan's story? I think it sets up future content. As kind of silly at times this show was, there's a ton of adaptable lore/story in the Halo universe. I think maybe they wrote enough for at least 2 seasons. Picard, another Paramount show, finished season 2, 20 total episodes, in a way that wrapped the story up. Maybe Halo writers tried for 20 episodes and some got cut or fell short of the mark. I'd guess they were shooting and perhaps certain things ended up cut for pacing. I get it upset you and at times you guys wished it was even quicker, but hear me out. It's quite possible there was even more scenes, that many would feel would drag, but writers didn't want too much cut, they kept half of them. Besides, I want to see Forerunner lore, and the Soren/Kwan story line, had the forerunner Guilty Spark. So I hope there's a season 2.

If it's been a clone the whole time then we haven't seen the real Halsey. So maybe the real Halsey IS smarter than the clone. For all we know she could have even had Jacob and Miranda fooled for YEARS. That would be interesting.

12:24 It's a 'PG' way of saying you've been sentenced to death. 18:20 Her shields were down. I quite liked Makee and wish we had more of her, but she needed to die for more Chief growth. And with this episode and the last, we got a lot of Chief growth. He's growing a lot..... harder. More stoic you could say. I know Halo game fanatics love tossing the word 'stoic' around at every possible chance lol.

I thought the exact same thing about Makee. I would have loved for her to realize the Covenant was using her and ultimately ended up siding with the UNSC. But it wouldn't have made sense to keep her around and would have stunted the growth of the show and Master Chief.

ive come to realize that the show is legit just starting at point zero for chief's development as a character. This is more like a prequel to a prequel if you think about the release of the games/books in relation to chief's character. We'll get the fall of reach and then progress to halo itself where we'll finally see a closer resemblance to the chief in the videogames, or at least i hope it goes that way.

I'm so ready for season 2. I personally think Chief is actually alive like he's conscious is in control but Cortana is in his mind (if that makes sense). Kwan Ha is supposed to be a sort guide for Master Chief and after what happened to him, thats when her role of being the Guide for John comes into play and hopefully Soren will be there to help

I enjoyed this episode and I am looking forward to season 2 which I heard is going to have a different show runner and different writers which I am a bit skeptical of because I will have to get used to different writing styles which I hope are good.

For me this episode felt like it had a different writer than the previous episodes. Its like they wanted to start a different path with the show. Chief suddenly is told to be the Master Chief "john cannot exist in the battlefield". Kai kills Makee off the show. Miranda is more though in front of Halsey. The silver team has some good jokes and good action. The prophets actually hate humankind and wanted to get rid of Makee. When cortana takes over Chief he is game accurate chief and Kai even asks "Chief, is that you?" and they zoom in. I bet in S2 chief wakes up and cortana tells that the emotions and ball dipping was just a nightmare.

alot of things mad no sense and was rushed for the last episode. 1) silver team was flipped to easy and fast back to chief 2) the uncs does not disable Holsey's ship when they had plenty of time to 3) cortana cant scan for elits soon as the reach planet but as soon as they hear yealing is able to scan through the same substance she couldn't on arrival 4) cortana could of flown the pelican in to help at the start of the fight before chief died but didn't 5) cortana is a better cheif than chief 6) cortana nvr talks once in control or takes off helmet which should have been chief from the start of the show 7) uncs nvr thinks that holsey would have a flash clone of herself /once they do dont shut down all transport off the planet

The reason why a sticky grenade did more damage then the crashed plane it's because the plane is a regular explosion they can tank that and the sticky grenade is plasma Burns through Shields and armor.

Will definitely watch season 2. Haven't felt like wanting to watch anything in a long time. There's a ton of sci fi tropes done right in this show. They were done in the past already and that's they only problem: We've seen those things already. But for people who haven't watched too much sci fi this is the number one introduction do sci fi.

Going to have to rewatch the part where "Cortana" Chief picks up the pillar, but looks like there's a second slot for a third piece. Maybe that's why the map was incomplete?

I have hope for season 2, might be piss poor of a hope but it still is. this season wasn't great but wasn't bad either. production is pretty good, much of them like lighting, tone, cinematography,... it's pretty fine, CGI sometimes a bit wonky. the story is still rough. I've heard they'd changed the showrunner and screenwriter. if they fix the issues with the story writer in the next season this might be good. it has potential with good guidance I have no issue with the different lore, story, or Chief since it's a non canon. And I'm glad they went for non canon, lots of adaptation either tried to be exactly copy from the game or takes a little change but most of them still end up bad. I would rather they go original about it, taking risk and improving on it and I'm glad they go more drama about it, since the game was full on action so the story and the world is a bit blurry to me.

You guyz were being so silly at the end, you asked what was the purpose of soren and kwan character development. Can't you see that the show has multiple seasons to come, their story will be connected in future. Also That was rubbish during riz rib damage, you said, ship destroyed no damage then how did that happen, First of all ship crash landing was normal blast, but riz got hit by deadly alien tech sticky grenade, also she has been fighting earlier also that's why her shield must have been weaken.

Seargent johnson, foehammer, mendoza, guilty spark. They had mirranda, halsey and captain keyes but they barely used them because they focused so much on annoying ass kwan. This show is ass

Well, if you want the show without seeing the face then watch Mandalorian. I think it would be stupid if they did the show that way. You need character DEVELOPENT. I have the impression that you just want to see the game as a TV show or in other words: The Master Mandalorian without Baby Yoda. Pablo Schreiber did a great job and after seeing the first two episodes of season 2 I would say that even more. His face and whole mimic was kinda like mask with little signs of emotions. Just my opinion.

The highlight of the show was Kai I think, I will watch season two. I get the urge to compare everything to the game, but this isn't a game, it is a show that needs characters and a story. If people want the game just play the game. The show need to give us the story of Master Cheif who he was to bring in the average fan. Heard season 2 has a new showrunner and writers so hoping it is a step up from season 1.

Kai gets in hairy predicaments in every fight scene, shot off the side of the rebel base, literal millions of shots to armor and shields go down in the second action scene, gets knocked out in 7, and goes down in a fiery explosion..... Not one scratch to her armor. If anything it seemed more clean every time.... Riz gets one grenade stuck to her.... armor compromised with some odd looking flesh exposed and a near death experience.

🤔 I love it too. I really played only the first Halo on pc and that s all but I wish to play more. Also, I wished Makee would have stayed on the human side, but I guess it was not ment to be... Same for when touching the artifact before being killed by Kay. Maybe Kay could have only throw a rock at Master Chief to wake him up, not having to shoot Makee :)) However, as you said, there is no home for her, neither with humans, neither with covenant...Maybe on Madrigal? :) with the magic ones? To activate the portal? Who knows? Beside that, it was really dope to see Cortana taking over and shooting without even looking. I wished she would have killed or shot Mercy as well (or those sacred guys, who just stayed and watched the fight... ) Beside that, I'm confused with Halsey clone. I was not aware that they can communicate. I was thinking they have to die the next morning when waking up or something. Same confusion for Riz and Vaneek, who I'm not sure if they remove their palets or not? If they are still resistent to hormonal activity and have no emotions, did you observe them becoming more jovial in the ship towards Covenant planet? I was thinking that sarcasm could have been human trait as well :) I hope they find Halsey sooner and kill her or something . She was so close to being captured by Kay if the assistant guy didn't hit Kay with that metal thingy and got distracted... Damn Halsey is smart. Too manipulative too. I wish her daughter will lead UNSC better than anybody and that together with Kuan Ha and other good forces, they will find Halo or end this war. LOOKING for season 2. Can't wait.

This episode was terrible. In the first few minutes Kia is held at gunpoint which wouldn't be an issue if these idiot Spartans kept their helmets on. Then 5 minutes later Kia gets knocked in the head by Halsley's assistant which wouldn't be an issue if these Spartans kept their helmets on. She lets slow a$$ Dr. Halsley get away to an escape pod. Yet these Spartans were outrunning vehicles earlier in the season. Then these morons are literally letting grenades fall on the floor while they're in slipspace. At the end of the episode all of the Spartans are less than 50 feet from the Covenant's hierarchy which are litterly floating above them weaponless. And not one of these supersoldiers that have been trained since age 6 had the awareness to give them a three round burst to the head.

The show is definitely not based on the books. There are a couple of plot elements and some lore taken from the books, but it’s just as minimal as the games. When it comes to Halo projects outside of the games and books, Halo: Legends and Forward Unto Dawn understood the characters and lore far better.

It's fucked up if the creators / directors., etc. didn't play the game or read the books. Well, they must have done something because it still seems enough like Halo to be a Halo show. But to not play the game would be fucked up. It seems like an admission of a lack of imagination or freedom within their minds to say that they would be chained down if exposed to the source material. They should be able to absorb the source material and still make their own universe without being chained down.

Couldve easily added a few action scenes in some of the more boring episodes. Even without the covenant we could've had ODSTs hunting Kwan, or ONI looking for Soren. Wouldve been monumentally more interesting than the talk fest that is this season. Right now, there is zero narrative weight for Kwan, Soren, Parangosky, Miranda, it feels like the writers tried to branch out into a massive universe and in the last 10 minutes of the finale bought it all back to the Master Chief

Don't know what you guys were watching ... i thoroughly enjoyed the series . I want more . Show has obviously put emphasis on how Kai is built different than the other spartans in terms of strength , i mean why wouldn't she survive a crash and also she had time to recharge her armor .

This whole series has been 'meh' for me but since I love sci-fi genre so much, I just watched it in the background. Having watched The Expanse before this, I gotta say that Halo doesn't even hold a fingernail to the Expanse (except for the alien cgi).. Even Shabana Azmi as Margaret Parangosky was lacklustre in the role.. Since I feel like it's a poor version of Chrisjen Avasarala from the Expanse. Since it took me 1 whole season to warm up to the Expanse which only got better in the later seasons, I'll probably end up comparing every space SciFi show to it. Maybe The Halo will get better and maybe Qwan will become less whiny and will actually serve her purpose in the show... And that's a big MAYBE. I don't care if the show doesn't follow the game/the books as long as it has a good storyline which by far is all over the place. Let's see.. Maybe S2 will do this one justice.

I am not trying to be hyperbole in anyway but WOW!! The season finale might just be one of the best season finales of television I've ever seen in my entire life!🤯 HOLY SHIT!!! Chief is fucking badass! Best episode!👀 And yet here I stand and even with this episode the amount of backlash it's getting makes no sense to me... The finale was awesome and yet I've seen everyone nitpick it and complain. I guess I'll just never understand that.🤷‍♂ I am making a video for my channel talking about it but wow this episode was fun! Idc what people like HiddenXpheria say, the season for me comes out to around a 6.5/10. Not great, good, bad or trash. Just in the middle. I will say Jaby you were way too nitpicky with this one, but hey just my opinion.

The problem this show had was hitting us up front with Halsey's crimes and the military collaboration in their enactment BEFORE we get to know them, the Spartans, or the scale and overwhelming urgency of the threat of implacable, non-negotiable annihilation humanity is facing, nor any real sense of the enemy alien force itself and the power it weilds. That said, I look forward to a second season that will almost certainly be what the first should have been - A habitual helmet and armor wearing Master Chief physically arriving at the first halo ring and everything that happens in the first game happening, but with the additional subplot of Master Chief first finding a way to separate the intermixed consciousnesses of Cortana, John and (I highly suspect) Makee with the eventual later game Cortana/MC romantic situation being the highly accelerated result. Which is fine with me, and makes sense for a show but not with a game. I just will NEVER understand the stupidity of wasting millions of dollars, time - their own as well as OURS, a talented cast, and a vast amount of brilliant cannon works in multiple mediums begging to be directly adapted or at minimum used as priceless background reference and a ready made look at what works and what doesn't by way of reception, professional reviews, fan reviews, and even sales figures all available to their creative team from DAY ONE! Utterly, arrogantly ignored. So here we are, right where we were at the start, doing a season two that should have been season one. ☝️🙄👈

Riz did have a couple lines in one of the episodes. She was addressing the marines in one of the scenes. Can't blame you if you don't remember it...or if you didn't remember the details about the clones. It's quite easy to gloss over this story. It's pretty bad. I don't think they stuck the landing cause the reality is they didn't stick the show 😅😑 Thanks for your reactions to this mediocre show. Maybe next season will be better.
