Simply the best clip on release of anyone out there. I'm a decent player with a 4 handicap and have taken lessons multiple times and no one ever talks about this. They want to teach everything in the world except how the hands really work. They may even be able to do this but have no idea how to instruct it. Good work. It's an excellent refresher for me.

You’re so right.. no mention of this and it will establish consistency without any need for urgency before impact.

Great job explaining… and it works… it really sends the ball at the intended target, and on off days alot closer

This is an excellent instructional video on the hands. I recently mentioned to my playing partner that I suddenly realized I've been holding onto wrist angles (lag) for way too long and discovered how the left wrist is going from flexion to extension (feeling anyway) even before impact to allow the "flinging" of the club through impact. I had felt that before, the flexion to extension of the left wrist, and hit some good balls but later discounted that feeling as it can't be correct. Boy, was I wrong. Now I realize I've just been holding onto angles and slowing my swing through the ball. When I did this last week, realizing the release started earlier, I was suddenly 30 yards longer on my drive and had recovered a club worths of distance on my irons. Thank you for this.

I must say that this has been such a revelation. I thought the flap was a good thing, but so many others never approached that. I’ve been following DrKwonGolf for a while and see that in all respects you align with DrKwon. However, the arm/wrist/hands interaction is a nuance that’s subtle but so important. Now that you gave me the go ahead to embrace the flap and seen your other vids about release. My compression is so much better. Just beginning this journey and so excited.

Trackman, mirror, hitting mat, big bucket of balls, putting green, quiet range. Man that place is heaven on earth. Can you do a chipping video? We all love to hit it long but what do you do with the extra distance?

This was exactly what I have been searching for. The detailed and super close up view really helped me understand. One idea that I think would be helpful and unique, try wearing a go pro on your hat so we can all see the view from your perspective. After all, we are trying to convert what we see to a first person perspective. But you can do that for us by wearing a go pro and seeing it from the first person perspective.

In this video, it seems you are demonstrating a wrist release right before impacting the ball; yet, in another video you are proposing an early release of the club. I have such a short backswing (and a fully replaced left shoulder) that I am trying to have a much earlier release as u demonstrated in another video.

Excellent instruction, clear and understandable. I liked the way you illustrated each phase of the swing. The hands are an extremely important part of the entire swing. A quick question, how much of this process applies to the short game? Are all swings the same regardless of distance? Is the release on a short pitch shot the same as the release on a longer club?

Steve does this happen before your square to the strike? I feel it is 25% behind the strike.

I love this video, great job as usual. Question: I have people telling me to "swing left" which I'm having trouble understanding but I assume it means after contacting the ball. It's kind of like saying "releasing the club" they just say it and expect you to understand. Do you advocate this? If so, can you explain it.
@davidmcnamara3243

Yea, draw it in and cut it out. Hands low and left. Close the clubhead with the rotation of the body. I've been down that avenue and it's a complete load of bl**dy rubbish. It kills dead the freewheel club head and destroys centfical force, finally the club, no longer works as a pendulum, because its being manipulated!!!!
@kabbykabby3370
@kabbykabby3370 Год назад
I think 11:24 of the video he talks about it. Swinging left is just following the arc of the swing which is tilted so not straight back and through. As you hit the ball your club and arms and body move towards the target but also a bit to the left.

his more current video.... "what the hands do in the downswing" is a better great explanation of this

Great video Steve, when I do this I have a tendency to pull or hook the ball, is this overactive trail forarm rotation. If I hold back the rotation of the trail forarm it seems I don't get force into the ball and almost a restricted swing. I feel as i turn my arms want to turn do to the force of the club head during the swing.

I watch some of your videos. Do you “subscribe to the thought” of “throwing the right hand at the parallel point” for a right handed golfer?
@Inmotion70
@Inmotion70 Год назад
The throw begins long before that, from the top of the swing. You only see the response at last parallel.
