No idea why I started watching this, I sat through the entire recording, incredible. The talent, patience, steadiness, knowledge, I'm utterly flabbergasted. A true work of art!
When I was a kid, we rented out the first floor of our building as a workshop for a shoemaker. I would always go there and watch him make and repair shoes. I was so mesmerized by his skills and he doesn't seem to mind my company. This video made me remember those carefree days. Thank you
When I was a kid my father owned a shoe factory. One of my father’s employees, a kind man named Carl, developed his own shoe which was an athletic type utilizing modern materials. It was the first time I ever saw a “sneaker”. I was mesmerized. Unfortunately I wasn’t paying attention and left the prototype sitting on a conveyor belt and it was destroyed, damaging some of the equipment in the process. My father was furious and demanded to know who was responsible. I was too afraid to speak up and so Carl took the blame. My father fired him that day. I was ashamed.
I will never again ask, "Why are these shoes so expensive?" Now I know. But I can't imagine massive warehouses full of thousands of these craftsmen making shoes for the world. So now I wonder what the automated, machine-made process looks like, that might turn out a pair of these types of shoes for $99. That pair of shoes should be sitting in some big Art Museum. I was dumbfounded.
Be careful, though. Brand names will still try to sell expensive shoes to you. Meanwhile they don't even have a machine stitched welt (let alone hand welt), but just use injection molding or cemented soles etc. Questionable quality brands will also not be able to say what tannery their leather is from.
I started my apprentice in 81, in an 4 th. generation business which has been established 1874, I can tell you by far, this is world class , even the technic they use is really old school crafting, the one contrast compare to European or western technic is the different use of the knife technic, in western technic, you cut with the knife in opposite direction, and the knife has a different shape........ Even the tools look quite similar to our tools, but a lot of the branding technic at the end of the Vid shows the use of tools which are often not being produced anymore, for instance, I posses some, some of them more than 50 years old, tools for branding the inner arch edge which called half round edging, they don't exist anymore........ They show shoemaking on the by far, world finest completion. an sharp eye, an brilliant aesthetic outcome !!!!!! This is the reinvention of traditional shoe crafting on the highest gentle Level. Boys, I can tell you if you entering a Master class in Germany, your work will be granted with the highest score.

I am a cobbler and have been for 5 years. This guy makes me look like it's my first day. Absolutely incredible it made me feel something seeing the final product. I wish I could afford a pair just to look at
You can be good at your trade, but there is always other guys that are just on another level. It's always inspiring to watch people that are insanely good at their craft huh.
My grandfather has been a shoemaker since he was 6, he's 81 now and watching this reminds me of my childhood when I would walk to his workshop and he would be making shoes, the sound of a hammer pounding leather is very relaxing to since then. I will always thank him for teaching me what he knew. I really enjoy watching this, brings a lot of memories
Nostalgic...my grandfather was a cobbler who ran his own place out of Wainwright, Alberta for decades. He eventually sold his shop to be closer to family instead of commuting back and forth every few days from there to Edmonton...but when he was working on shoes, he just seemed so happy, in his element, doing what he knew best. He was still very mentally and physically sound even in his old age. He saved one of the old super heavy metal sewing machines (like in the video) from his shop and still used it at home whenever one of us grandkids needed something fixed ...lost him last May to COVID...miss you so much grandpa.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my grandpa September 2020 to Covid as well. An absolutely, devastatingly-heartbreaking time for my entire family. I’m so sorry for any & everyone who’s lost someone they love to such senseless & completely-avoidable bs. SMH. My family will never be the same. I love you, papaw; & my goodness, are you missed something fierce! 🥺💔❤️🩹♥️
Literally everything you can buy is mostly handmade, just say you don't like mass production. Those things you buy in stores are handmade by overworked workers that barely make minimum wage, their health withers so you can look down on them. Do better dude.
This just goes to show how long it takes to truly make Handcrafted Premium shoes made from only the finest materials. Slow and steady to make no mistakes, truly perfection at it's finest.
this made me remember a story from the shoe shop i used to work at. a lady came in with custom dimensions for her kid, so we commissioned a shoe maker we work with, and when the shoe came back this lady said, "you made this with old leather, its not cute, i knew coming here was a mistake" lady... your kid doesnt require aesthetics, she needs custom orthopedic shoes
@@lordjaashin Bot to be a nitpick but shoemakers are craftsmen. Those who take their craft to stupid high levels are artisan craftsmen. Granted, non-industrialized shoemaking is so rare now that most of the ones who still practice the craft are in the artisan category, simply because "just hammering shoes together" isn't financially viable any more.... but the distinction is still the same, just as with any other craft.
@@andersjjensen who is even talking about "artisan" here? whole conversation is about "artist". anyone with skill can be an artist. period. making distinctions among artists is like trying to differentiate between Picasso and Warhol. in the end they are both artists and any discussion regarding their skills boils down to personal perspective and is plainly subjective matter. besides artisan is glorified term that has been hijacked by purple haired weirdos trying to sell their mediocre skills at expensive price to equally gullible try hards
@@lordjaashin artisan /ˈɑːtɪzan,ɑːtɪˈzan/ noun: artisan; plural noun: artisans a worker in a skilled trade, especially one that involves making things by hand. "street markets where local artisans display handwoven textiles, painted ceramics, and leather goods" Origin mid 16th century: from French, from Italian artigiano, based on Latin artitus, past participle of artire ‘instruct in the arts’, from ars, art- ‘art’. Sure there were purple haired weirdos in the 16th century.... So: Artist: Someone who makes non-functional art which only exist for pleasure. Artisan: someone who makes an art of a craft. Also, your shitty attitude just makes you look like the purple haired gullible try hards you rant so much against. But it doesn't change the fact that the dictionary doesn't care if you don't know common words, their meaning or their origin.
@@andersjjensen are we living in 16th century?? people stopped using artisan word for a long time. its use was restarted by pretentious purple haired weirdos to sound cool. your dictionary definition does nothing to what I've said earlier. maybe you got triggered and started REEEEing. so take your meds and go away.
It is so difficult to imagine all the effort and expertise that you put in this amazing job. People must have a lot of respect for what you do. God bless you.

I have great respect for people who do their work so painstakingly, accurately and conscientiously, and they literally turn out to be masterpieces that you can admire and rejoice at.
Had no intention of playing this video. Came to RU-vid with entirely different search in mind. I also don't like shopping for or collecting shoes. I really don't. Not a shoe guy. I hit play anyway. THANK YOU for taking us on that amazing journey! There is great craftsmanship and then there is Magic like this. As he progressed, I realized he was doing this from the ground up! Highest level work here. Reminds me of the bespoke tailors who whip out that measuring tape, have you return for a few more progressive fittings, and couple of months later you're in a suit stitched to your body.
Of all the craftsmanship lost over the years to automation, cobblery has to be one of the most rare nowadays. It's a privilege to watch a master craftsman at work.
I've made several hand stitched belts, holsters and sheaths. I would not be surprised if this guy only makes one or two pairs of shoes per week. It's hard to appreciate the amount of skill and work that goes into this. Gorgeous craftsmanship
Delivery time 4 months when made to order from a base model Bespoke design: 8 months The pricing is reasonable and fair, it will at least set you back 250 (made to order) to 300 (bespoke)
I have such an appreciation for craftsman like this gentleman. You can see his dedication to his craft in every move he makes, it's a pleasure to behold.
Wow!! That is extreme perfection. I have a good number of bespoke shoes from some of the best and most renowned shoemakers in the UK, but I have never seen perfection like this. This is obviously Japanese perfection. Bravo 👏🏻
Whilst these look amazing, it is well known that some of the worlds best shoemakers are England originated. Maybe you have looked for in the wrong places? :)
Wow!
User Samsung
I don't know how I got here, but I'm glad I did!!!🙌🏾 This is truly an ART! And was exciting to watch! Now, I know why my hand-made shoes cost so much!!! Excellent craftsmanship! 👍🏾
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. So young and so very talented!! Already a craftsman! Thank you for sharing this truly amazing video. Any man should be honored to wear these shoes!🧡🤎🖤
So calming to watch, so reassuring that in this messed up world someone still cares deeply about quality and has cultivated the skills to achieve it. I come here and the channel of “my mechanic” when I am frazzled find them therapeutic.
I am a professional musician, violinist. Although both professions are so different, they both require dedication, skills, attention to details and other qualities. This is really where hand crafting shoes is becoming an art; a pleasure to watch. Thank you for posting another great video
Craftmanship will go out of style, the minute we get so dull that we think everything is the same. As long as our perception remain sharp, works like this would mean the world for anyone with a passion for beauty and exception.
This video is my kind of ASMR ❤️ I've had to watch it at least 5 times just to finally see all of it 😅 I kept falling asleep. Great works! I love your videos
The patience, the focus, the precision. Yep, that's a Master. Human hands can do things incredible when we care to learn a craft. Thank you for sharing your passion. Love from 🇫🇷. 💙
watching ur videos is better than any therapy. don't ever change the way u make these videos. and the shoes r just unreal. u really r a master at work💙
Pure artistry. This man's skill-set is extraordinary. The detail, attention and love he put into those shoes is so impressive. I tip my hat to you sir. Rare soul.
If I had the disposable income I’d love a hand made pair of shoes from this man! Alas it’s Walmart discount rack shoes for me! Still a very relaxing video to watch & still be in awe of his skills/the content! Please continue making more shoes & videos!
You have really trained hands and eyes. You not only do a lot of work, but also do everything with jewelry precision. I dreamed of trying to make shoes by myself, but I see how difficult it is and requires a lot of knowledge and skills, as well as a strong hand. Better instead of empty attempts, I will enjoy this video
