Really interested in this topic. I know you cover this some at the end, but what's your philosophy on doing this in training? I get that during a competition you try to club him as hard as possible, but what about the etiquette of swatting your partner in the back of the head during a training session?
I learned there when going live, as opposed to drilling (which should spend more time doing), there are two ways to go about it. 1. Going 30-50% effort purely working on technique, timing, and "flowing" as a means to learn 2. Train like you expect to behave in competition. #1 is for learning and #2 is for competition prep
