Is your handheld sewing machine not stitching? The first part to check should be the needle position and in this tutorial, I show you how to make sure the needle is in the correct position when your handheld sewing machine is not working. I am using the Handy Stitch brand but other brands on the market are very similar.

OMG I cannot thank u enough! My husband bought this machine for me 4 years ago, bearing in mind I absolutely hate sewing! I put it down to the machine not working. Awesome video, I received this sewing machine for a Christmas gift from my wife because I do all the sewing in our house. It worked for a little while but then quit. Thank you so much for this video explaining the solution. I can now do all the sewing abit quicker again! Yay!

Thank you for the heads up on that solve . bought my M/C about 5 years ago and discarded it in a drawer because I couldnt get it to sew . recently needed to sew an edge on a roller blind and remembered I had this hand held. Got it out and looked on youtube for the answer .

Could you please do a video of what to do if it stitches, but doesn’t grab the thread at the back? (Ie, looks stitched but just pulls apart as the loops at the back are not connected to anything). I just bought one of these to make a doona cover for/with my nine year old daughter. We were so proud of ourselves, until we went to use it and found it just fell apart in big patches where the thread hadn’t been caught (which we didn’t realise when sewing it).
