Bought an 18-hp hangkai for my 10ft aluminum jon boat. Strengthened my transom, and thing flies. It's been 1 year, so far, no issues. Starts every time.
Number 1 - Use 25 to one during breakin. Number 2 make sure cooling good.. non ethanol best. You can buy 3 of these for price of 15 hp name brand. Mercury most advanced outboards are all made in China. They don,t need much choking and none when warm.. Can be lifted by 82 yr old. Light. like mine too.
Hi. I bought same outboard but 15hp 2 years ago. Its been great. Its basically a copy of the Yamaha 2strokes made with pretty good quality parts. 1 thing 2check is the thermostat. They don't always fit them. Mine didn't have 1 so I fitted 1. Just means the engine won't ever be running at optimum temp 55⁰c
Just picked up the 12 hp for $889 on amazon shipping and yax included. These are Tohatsu M 9.8B clones so most parts should be interchangeable from what I understand. I did hear another owner say the rubber parts dont hold up well over time they start leaving residue when touched
12hp 2 stroke doesn’t seems to be getting full power at full throttle . Tell me about the air/gas mixture setting. Where is the sweet spot? Seems like it runs better with the hood off
Probably around 20 hours i was down most of the summer last year and didnt get out on the water much, im looking forward to this year and getting up more content! Thanks for the comment!!
@@timhuggins9366 do u run the residual fuel out of the carb at the end of a trip.. the ethanol is corrosive. also using marine fuel stabilizer can help. question, can you get replacement parts for these motors?
Yeah generally i run it out of fuel especially before i store it for the winter. From what ive been told Tohastu 9.8 is the same motor and parts will interchange. Ive never had to replace anything yet so im not 100% but thats what people are saying??
i imagine the motor should be fine it is a Yamaha Clone and i’ve had severalYamaha motors over the years bothOutboards and Motorcycles /ATV i’ve always had good luck with them of course Japan is usually better thanChina in quality and Materials i’ve noticed these Hang Kai’s are not as quiet as a Yamaha or the Grey Ghosts as we call them on Law Enforcement boats ! one of my best freinds and i were riding on a guys boat that took a group of us to a Waterfront restaraunt and that boat Owner was drinking pretty hard so he was loud and wobbly on his feet the LocalMarine Police watched this with his Binoculars sort of hidden behind some docked boats and didn’t get more than a quater mile when the Ridgid came up behind us to blip his Siren and turn on his lights my best freind was talking with his Lady and almost crapped his pants because he didn’t see the boat coming up behind us it turned out the guy had a bulb out and got a warning which he was more than lucky to get because he stunk like a Barrel of Bourbon IMO and was running too fast in a NoWake Zone plus under severe Influence of Alchohol we were in a quiet Tributary of the Chesapeake Bay and this guy was another member at our Marina who heard where a group,of us were Anchoring for the Weekend
