Hank B. Marvin the Fender Stratocaster legend and god father of many great guitar players. He inspired some of the greatest like comme Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Mike Oldfield, Brian May, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young, Steve Howe, Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, Carlos Santana ....
I can hear Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Dick Dell, Glen Cambell and countless others he influenced we he plays...not to mention his great showmanship and personality.
My hero from when I heard Apache for the 1st time when i was 13. Now I am 63 and he is still my hero. The Shadows are the best instrumental group of all time. Their unique sound can never be replicated by anyone.
The greatest guitarist ever. I don't understand why The Shadows were never popular in the USA. We really missed out by not enjoying their sound. I first heard their music at a record store in Hong Kong in 1963 and have been a fan since. Thanks Hank and The Shadows from Anderson, Indiana, USA.
Richard - you might be interested to know that The Shadows were over in the States before The British Invasion & played a show, I forget exactly where. When it was over Hank Marvin said the place emptied out & he was the last one left on stage unplugging his Stratocaster from the amp. When suddenly an older man walked down to the front & thanked him for his skillful playing. He told Hank " You remind me so much of my son. You even look like him". Hank responded "Who was your son"? The man answered "Buddy Holly".
John. Thanks a lot. I still after 61 years love his sound. Ricki Kind and the locomotions must also, as seem to be immensely influenced by Hank Marvin.
Richard: You might know this but here are some other names that might interest you. The Locomotions are great too. Try Steve Reynolds playing Cosy. Nice young guy with tons of guitars + 1960's echo boxes like the Meazzi given to Hank by Joe Brown really early on. Tries hard to emulate Hank but sadly passed away a couple of years back aged 35 😪 Try Molnar Gitar Band from Hungary with Beatrice playing rhythm in the front middle. Pretty good too. It is felt by many that The Shadows missed out on success in the USA because Jorgen Ingman from Denmark, snuck in with Apache in 1961 which made #2. You can hear his playing on RU-vid with lots of clever stuff & reverb. If you plug in to RU-vid with EUROVISION 1963 WINNER, you can see Jorgen playing guitar for wife Grethe 2 years after his Apache success. Finally (Lol) Have you tied watching Hank playing Gypsy Jazz with Nunzio Mondia (Accordion) & Gary Taylor (Guitar) & a stand up bass player. A friend saw them in concert in Auckland New Zealand a few years back & said they were fabulous 😊 It's high time I quit. Hope you have fun with some of this stuff. Also try GEOFF playing WAHINE that Hank wrote or co wrote in the 1960's. He is very versatile too !!
Greatest Guitarist ever, absolutely 💯 love listening 🎶 TO this performance. Well done 👏 ✔ guys especially Hank Marvin 👏 looks like 👍 he's enjoying himself just Priceless 💯 💯
Simply tremendous Hank. You really have done so much for Fender and their Stratocaster guitar. Such a beautiful sound and As always brilliant performance. Thanks so much Hank B Marvin.
I met Hank in the sixties in Amsterdam, a very nice guy. Evenso he's my top favoriete guitarplayer all time. He was the most top performer on guitar in my life. the my life😍
I have always wanted to see the shadows live had tickets once but was called in to work and missed them have never had the chance again but would like to thank Hank and the band for the joy you have bought me listening to you on you tube and the many disc,s that I have
Bro Hank, your performance on stage sends such electric shock into the heart of everyone who are listening that if anyone falling sick will stand up n start running to your stage.😀😀
The Shadows did appear in the movie The Young Ones. Sadly the producers did not give them any lines, so they appeared in the movie when they only played their music.
Yes, but there are movies where the Shadows appeared as actors. 🙂 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hDBdE7XhM0U.html And in the movie "Finders Keepers" too.
Qué temazo inmortal, qué melodia por Dios !!; Hank Marvin, monstruo sagrado de la guitarra, arrancándole un sonido increible a su Stratocaster. Admirado y venerado por muchos guitarristas de rock, un gran referente
"Young ones, darling we are young ones"... Holy... This makes feels nostalgic even i'm born 1995. I heard this 2009 on The Shadows final tour, when Cliff sang it...
I do miss going to Hank’s and The Shadows concerts, they were the most enjoyable 2 hours one could have, but like all good things they have to come to an end. However we do have video clips to bring back the memories.
@@josemariariscomoreno5693 Cierto! Esto es algo que muy poca gente comenta, así que me alegra leerlo aquí. Aparte del gusto exquisito que tiene tocando, siempre me ha parecido un tipo elegante, cordial y simpático. Y muy inglés, claro.
Super clean light touch and very melody based. I sure see how he influenced EC, who I consider the greatest living artist on electric guitar., especially using a Strat.
Young ones take a leaf out of Hank's book if you wanna make the guitar sing and talk. This brings back memories of a time so long ago but never forgotten. I am an old man now but still appreciate this. Thank you Sir Hank Marvin for giving me and bringing me so many great memories of the greatest legendary days of good music. Miss these great old songs period. Makes me feel so young again. 🍾🥂🍸🍹
Likewise ..saw the film on the back row of the Scala Withington Manchester with a young lady ..not an official 'date' but a memory that lingers on all these years later..I'm now 74 but it all seems so recent.
The light that your presentation radiates and the felicity it gives to mind leaves no dark corner, thanks to THE YOUNG ONES. May you continue to treat us with one brilliant performance after another for aeons.
Hank a hard man to follow just the best most. Of. People. Playing hanks. Music Sume get. Close I have been trying. For 50. Years well done my friend. 🎸🎼
Hank you make the hairs stand up on my arms and make my heart sing your the BEST that’s ever been bar none and one of the nicest men in the buniness for real Rock And Roll Stan
