Mark Knopfler speaks fondly of Hank and one can see why. Knopfler often introduces the GR melody when he plays Tunnel of Love in his live performances as a nod to Hank. Two legends 👍
Hank was an instrumentalist before Hendrix and should get the guitar god credit he so deserves!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing how precise and dreamy, and how he keeps his floating vintage trem in tune throughout. I am blown away.
@@royfeigel2535 they inspire and confluence those that come after, you cannot say they are meaningless. The guitar heros of today wouldn't be around around if it wasn't for the original innovators. Even EVH had influenced so many. Someone has to do it first and people build upon it and do better, it is the way of life.
@@joshB-hs9qn I doubt seriously the ones i mentioned plus many others needed any input from these guys. I see noting innovative about relying on the whammy boar for simple vibrato. Can Hank even bent a full tone or do vibrato with hos left hand. The whammy bar was a feature of Strats and the reverb of a lot of amps. Seems to me he became infatuated with both and never went beyond. Playing what I call straight guitar ( I play btw) is rely not innovative. He also seems to be thrilled with the idea of picking double notes for a melody . But that isn't fast picking by any means. Innovators are people like Les Paul and Chet Atkins. And modern day Tommy Emanuel . If you dont know, Tommy look him up for some truly great playing.
@@royfeigel2535 David Gilmore, mark knopfler, Eric Clapton that's is but a few who have cited Hank as a hero and what made them pick up a guitar. His tone is unique and his use of a wammy bar is extremely unique.. ask Jeff Beck, another extremely talented guitarist who uses a wammy bar in almost song because of Hank... He might not be as flashy or technically gifted as guitarist mentioned above, he most definitely is an innovator, and most definitely 1 of the greats.
Mind Boggling Talent! The greatest electric guitar Maestro, as far as I'm, concerned. H.M. and The Shadows, as riveting today as throughout the past six, decades. O United Kingdom, the outstanding musicians you have given us! Hank Marvin and The Shadows, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, The Animals, The Who, Eric Clapton, the list seems never-ending - Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues, Geoffers47, etc. 🇬🇧 ❤❤❤ Roland Singh, Canada 🇨🇦
A truly gifted musician. One of the greatest guitar players ever. It’s been a pure pleasure to watch him over the years. So glad I grew up listening to Hank play.
O.M.G this was the 1st time i have ever heared this by Guitar, and have to say Hank Marvin did 1 hell of a job getting this Perfect... I am totally gobsmacked... Well done Hank
These days if you can make the front 5 rows clap for you ... consider you have made it... Making a whole stadium clap till the end to the song ----- POWERFUL ! that's what Hank's playing & personality is all about. Priceless.
guys been picking single notes since 1957 . hes just got the best tone ever . fluent call it what you want . he delivers every time . seen them met them BEST and tightest band anywhere . GREAT MUSIC BY GREATEST PLAYER .
..the legendary Hank Marvin said in 2014 Guardian Interview - "Family is very important to me. I've learned the importance of it as I've got older. The family is the basic unit in society and it's important to spend time together and to play together." - words of wisdom from a true legend named Hank Marvin.
I can't decide which is better, Dwaye Eddy's version or Hank Marvin's, so I always just listen to both of them... Two great instrumentalists from each side of the Atlantic with fantastic skills. Terry in Alexis, NC, USA
How can any one dislike this music by Hank Marvin he is one of the greatest guitarist ever, i still listen to him now and the old group the Shadow, and Cliff there music never ages.
Jesus H Christ this guy sure knows his way around that strat dunno who is having more fun hank, the strat or me listening to this just amazing the intro and end of the song is out of this world bending those strings that strat is just singing !!!
I asked my parents for guitar lessons when i was little due to this man! Way back in the 60’s i taught myself by ear to play Apache then all his others!
The best guitarist since the 1960s. The sound is unique, compositions and lyrics extraordinary and we, ll have to wait for a generation or more for similar talent to burst on the music scene. Luc Chasle.
180 people who can't believe their ears. Either that or they've been listening to that technocrap so long they don't know good music when they hear it. I was around then this song was first played and you can't get it any better than this. Hank Marvin is good.
Shadows and Ventures are really great and legendary for their timeless guitar melodies. Any no of times we can listen, we feel like listening on rpt mode
GREAT STUFF!!! THANKS TO HANK MARVIN!!! DOWN UNDER!!! STILL PLAYING???? HMMMMM!!! ALWAYS LIKED THE "THE SHADOWS"!!! THANKS FORO THE POSTING. FROM(U.K.). 1949 BABE.
Now, that's music!! Hank is enjoying the music & so is the audience. Everyone's giving background beat! Good music takes everyone in its spell...& this piece certainly does so.!! Great music need not necessarily has to be complex & technical and this piece has proved it yet again. Great work as always!
