Hannibal is very calm. We rarely see him emotional, but he does have them - just to a different extent than others. He's a sadist, but he isn't a maniac. He's refined, artistic even.
Chilton is not flirting with Alana, he's trying really hard to be polite and also insulting. :P Hannibal is the real Chesapeake ripper, yeah. :) Remember that Cassie Boyle's lungs (the girl on the stag's head in episode 1) were taken out while she was still alive, so we know Hannibal is very violent. Not because is is super angry, but because he wants to. Hannibal checks all the boxes on the psychopathic professions list; surgeon, psychiatrist, cook... :P Hannibal is SO PISSED that someone else is taking the credit for his kills. :P He's not the one who put Gideon up to this. Alana: Is it possible you inadvertently made him do it? Chilton: MOI!?!? Psychic driving is unethical! I WOULD NEVER! Alana: I said inadvertently. Hannibal: But thank you for confirming. Chilton: Oh. Whoops. What do you know of book!Hannibal's backstory? Hannibal is good at the long con. He is a planner, but when he needs to he can switch tracks very quickly, so if you picked up on his plans and things change, it's likely the outcome hasn't changed all that much, but the way to get there may have.
Well yes, the arm was fresh so Hannibal didn't kill her when she made the initial discovery which was several years ago, he only suffocated her enough to knock her out that time.

Don't get me wrong love this show, and both Hugh and Mads are absolutely spectacular in their roles. With special shoutout to Mads for not only doing justice to such an iconic role but delivering a performance every bit as amazing as the esteemed Anthony Hopkins, who won the Oscar for his take on the character in Silence of the Lambs. Two other shows you would probably greatly enjoy, Mindhunter which is about the formation of the FBI's behavioral science department and the first season of True Detective, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughy are at there best in a series that should appeal to every Criminal Minds fan. You may want to watch the films from this franchise before going any further, while there are 2 well regarded films ie Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon, the others are just ok, however this series does cover much of the same material, just in a much better way for the most part, so you'll be extra disappointed with several of the films if you watch them after the series. And lastly wanted to recommend checking out the movie Citizen X, which is an excellent telling of the real life Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo and the difficulties in capturing him, most of which is due to the politics and bureaucracy in the USSR during the cold war.
Do you realize it's okay to like or even root for villains? 😂 It's okay really, it's just a TV show, I promise no one will think you support irl murderers or cannibals haha
We all have our own likes and dislikes but I am not a fan of Jack Crawford, as portrayed in this show. He's a poor judge of character, he's DUMB, and he talks to other people like he's their father scolding the crap out of them. Other than that, this is an excellent show and I'm glad you're continuing to watch.
