I thought it was not available anymore but I was wrong. This isn't fine German engineering or anything, but it does work and has held up after several uses. But it really is made to mount to the Harbor Freight Lathe. To use it on another lathe you would need to jerry-rig some kind of setup.

thanks... even good V-cutters don't work great on 1 1/8" O.D. hollow tubes with 1.8" to 3/16" walls (for woodwind musical flutes) esp. with premium curly maple or time involved making the tubes etc., so I wanted to try to retrofit a router onto this. Premium ones like Vega even have router brackets (but that's $1000 before the router bracket). Having a router pleasingly mounted to a duplicator works like a boss for a friend of mine. I only want tomake straight tubes, maybe one change in diameter on one end (not duplicate over humps etc.) but with flute after flute, and with diameter being crucial for acoustics (hole placement and size affected by wall thickness) I'm trying to get something better going than hand. If I can't make this work I guess I'll order Sorby Sizing Tool fitted on a 3/8" beading tool and make rings every 2 inches and do everything manually. I don't like using calipers in one hand and parting tool with the other, and measurement tools have even caught in soft wood like WRC.

thanks, I have most or all of this and have not figured it out yet, but it will be worth it. I'm trying to make flutes freehand and getting it within even .010" is pretty hard, yet pretty important because the depth of the holes are dictated by the thickness of the walls and they change in tune depending on that depth. It may only be good for roughing shapes but wouldn't it help with a consistent straight line?

I'll make a video of me using it in the near future. I just need to set up my woodshop first. It's only good for roughing, not fine finishing. But you are right. Most any other will perform better.

Bruce, i am curious to see a video how exactly you are using this copy attachment and i am more than curious to see the result of the use of this attachment till then i will stay with what i said - it is useless piece of junk !

They work wonderfully. My uncle has made hundreds of custom spindles for hand built railings. This duplicator makes for quick reproduction work. I'd say to date he has made well over $100k using this. I guess if you don't understand how to use tools it would be a piece of metal.
