I like cheap knives over expensive because I will actually use them. Expensive knives I don't want to mess up or lose

I go both ways. I do believe in the “cry once, buy once” philosophy but for my everyday purpose or for instances where I’m gonna beat the knife up a bit with tasks, I like to buy cheaper.

I'm 71 so I won't be doing any camping intentionally. I don't need to have the best of everything. I would want a reliable compass and would spend more to get one.I need emergency pack just as the word implies. I still go Fly Fishing alone so it's wise to take along both First Aid and Survival Kit just in case. Fire starters are also wise to spend for. A good Swiss Army knife or Multi Tool is a must and I have an great Bowie Knife I always wear when I'm out in the elements. Add a worthwhile folding saw and canteen and your pretty well set. The survival blanket also wise to have. One finial must have not often mentioned or that gets overlooked is insect repellent! Get a good one! Don't trust cheap.

Knife is probably worth $10. And everything else, less than $10. You can piece that kit out and get better quality for the same price or cheaper.

If you slide the green plastic handle off the spork there is a knife and I think a bottle opener on the other side. I didnt see this til today but now Im wanting one to keep in my Van. Not available for mail order til April 16th.

Purpose of it being tight. The clip is so you won't lose it. You got it on your belt. Hook your pants and you fall down or sit down. It's beautiful to be tight and hard to get off then to be too loose and lose it

A cheap knife is better than no knife, especially when you blow a radiator hose like I did, it really didn’t matter that it was made in China. I prefer better quality, but it did the job at the time.

"Getting the job done at this time" ===== PRICELESS! I do keep a supply of knives all over the place. In all my "kits/ backpacks" Also in car door pocket. Center console pocket/box. I have at least 4 knives on me when I walk out my door every day!

Better than no knife for sure. I've got a couple of crates full of cheap knives. I bought a bunch of of the TV. You get what you pay for.

the bottle holder works better to hole a canteen or a thicker flashlight ( most belt clips snap for me ) , the tool card worked wonders for me when I went camping with my family and forgot a can opener and didn't have at the time a multi tool . It came in one of those sardine can survival kits . I find it ridiculous too but it does work the '' saw '' is useless as a saw but if you use it to scrape on bark or wood it makes great tinder to use ( especially if your knife doesn't have a 90 °spine.

The "spork" is also very dangerous. You didn't realize there was a knife in the handle. Imagine if you were holding it incorrectly and pulled it apart. You could slice your finger off if you didn't know there was a hidden knife in the handle.

One of my favorite things is when they put things on knives multi tools or any other thing that you wouldn’t think was for survival but then you just think about things you can do with it sure para cord and rope yeah seems like a great idea but what if you need to make a bow you can get your piece off whatever you’re gonna make it out of one wood and then for the arrows need to be made and so you make them add a little strips of wood well if you can make it down I don’t know if that one’s the right size or not but it might be able to make something like an arrow but one thing I do know for sure is if you need thicker rope you can run a thin piece of twine to them through the hole and then bend them in opposite directions going down for four strands and then I have to twist that Spork it’ll start tightening those up and you have your buddy or if you don’t have a buddy you can have your wine tied off to something to give it tension and start twisting it and pull it get it wet twist it pull it just keep doing it and then take the other two strands do the same thing then without even cutting them off there you can put them together get them wet start twisting them into a strand for a fourth strand piece of twine which everybody knows you can make great things with that to span of three strands will make a great stream for a bowl or You can take several different strands and make a great shepherd swing I don’t know it is fun though it’s kind of my Version of finding sheets in the clouds or on drywall with the right spackle but unlike just looking at something you can look at it and try it out on this one thing you have to remember in a survival situation you’ve gotta keep shark sure you can sharpen your knife you can sharpen a stick but you gotta keep your mind sharp so I don’t know for sure exactly what that used for but I know what I would try to use it for because you never know if anything is gonna work until you actually try it thank you very much sincerely Wayne O’Bryant Merced California

That "multi tool" card actually makes a better striker for the ferro rod than the actual striker that came with the rod. Just use the "knife edge" part as they call it, and it makes a great striker and throws nice sparks. Other than that, I agree, it pretty useless.

Thanks so much for watching! The most important are the 5 C’s : something for cutting, combustion, cover, containers, and cordage. This is more of a budget channel so I love a lot of Ozark Trail products.

Wire saws have all the problems you mention, and they usually fail because they're used at too acute of an angle. But if you can cut one sausage-sized green stick long enough to fit the wire into -- viola, you've got a bow saw!
@liveyourtruth88
@liveyourtruth88 4 месяца назад

@mikehoward8201
@mikehoward8201 3 месяца назад
Yep, I gave up on wire saws. A similar principle saw I have in my kit has a length of cut either direction chainsaw looking chain with strap handles, works great for cutting up to 6 inch thick rounds for batoning. And will cut either green or dry wood. Can use the saw dust and chips to aid in fire starting! It’s a much better option than any wire saw!
@flyoverkid55
@flyoverkid55 3 месяца назад
My 2 cents. You buy stuff like this to be used when you think the task will ruin a good tool. These types of pre packaged kits are generally sub standard quality, and you don't want your life to depend on them. Some things demand good quality, and you're worth it.

Just encountered your video here and I wanted to mention something you might like- it is not cheap but Amazon has a true survival blanket / tarp with heavy foil on one side and heavy vinyl on the other- made by a great company called Arcturus. Give it a look. Say hi to your dogs for me.

I went the distance and bought a Case Hobo knife. It also has a fork blade and a spoon blade. It separates into 3 pieces so you can use each one individually. $100 bucks well spent. Buy once, cry once.

The bello is one of the most dangerous tools in this kit. Just like you breathed in something when you tried to blow . . . imagine that the other end was in the fire and you accidentally inhaled. INSTANT lung damage . . . your survival effort would be over almost immediately. NEVER NEVER NEVER use one of these things!
