Sure she sacrificed herself for her girlfriend but above all else, she saved Bane and gave him closure from his resentment about the pasta maker. That's something to write home about.
I just realized: The scene with Harley confronting Ivy about how wrong the zombie apocalypse is parallels the scene where Ivy confronts Harley on how wrong the parademon invasion is. And the scene where Ivy holds Harley as she “dies” is a parallel to how Harley was holding Ivy as she “died.” Also, Harley sacrificing herself for Bane was really sweet.
Yeah Harley was hiding her feelings for ivy behind the whole parademon thing which was the reason she did it in the first place (which is kinda funny) and I might be reaching but I feel like ivy has been hiding her feelings for quite awhile and using this terraforming thing to forget about whatever it is
@@Andrea-rc1gz There is a major difference between the two cases. We can't tell yet, whether this is the real Ivy or not. Maybe the Poison Ivy from the past 2 and half season was just a socialized version made by Dr. Quinzel.
I mean if Ivy wants a plant paradise why not move to the Nevada and make a deal with the government. She gets to build a Eden out of the desert. Like 60% of the US is pretty much unoccupied. She could build an Eden anywhere, why does it have to be Gotham?
Think of how Harley Quinn is like how Majin Vegeta was when he wanted to stay a hard villain who didn't care about his family, and Goku saw through the BS, knowing that Vegeta still cared for his family.
I think the fact that Ivy didn't even hesitate to consider which was more important to her once she realized what her options were is important. It means that she already knows that nothing could be more important than Harley is to her, and nothing is worth losing her over
Yep! You can feel it in the way Ivy says "Why would you do this!?" at 2:51; she already made up her mind on what she was going to do, and she's just baffled that Harley would willingly force her hand like that. It'll be interesting to see the fallout from this; on one hand, Ivy clearly values Harley's safety over her "New Eden" plan, but I can't help but worry that this episode might've just given her a taste for godhood... If things escalate to an "Injustice 2" scenario, we riot. We riot until *everything* is blood in the streets and screams on the wind.
This is literally the worst thing ever. A loved one shouldn’t make you feel like you need them in your life. You WANT THEM in your life! Ivy was forced to not follow her dreams because the dumb B threw a tantrum of “you either kill me and follow your dreams or stop chasing your dream of a paradise for plants and keep me alive”.
Yeah, To ivy, harley is more important to her than anything else. Even if she's upset that her plan of rebuilding Gotham didn't work, ivy is the one who made that decision, harley is very important to ivy.
Its gonna make her reevaluate her priorities and just how much she cares for humans once she realizes that while Harley has been motivating her and very much helpful for her confidence and self esteem, she also kind of ruins most of her plans. Like how she ruined their paradise by kidnapping amanda frickin waller, and now, she forced her to undo the messed up version of eden. Hope they dont break up though. There's obviously a way better and more non violent way for Ivy to realize her Eden Dream.
Its not actually that unusual for Harley to care about innocent lives. She's never been one for mass murder on such a large scale, even when she had command of the Parademons she gave up pretty quickly when she saw just how many people were dying because of her. She may have stolen a nuke, but it was literally just a bargaining chip to get her own highway named after her. Even when Gotham was destroyed when Joker Tower fell, she wasn't concerned with rampant destruction or becoming a crime lord, she just wanted to chill out and have fun. Harley has no problem with killing people who she doesn't like or get in her way, and she may think she's fine with SUPER villainy, but whenever she's been confronted with the reality of it she backs down.
3:42 is the most genuine reaction i've ever seen in any tv series. i would've reacted the same way if i just saw all my life work be ruined infront of me
@@Angyali poor ivy she deserves her eden but killing people is not the way I wish she could realise that, if you read into ivys origins I understand why she acts so angry by acting the way she does as a villian, I agree with her if I was in her shoes but killing people there no need for that.
@@Sophias_booktube I wish there was at least a single line in Season 4. reflecting that the Green no longer allows access for Ivy to those extra powers, after having misused them here.
@@marvineusebe6166 She could always try and change Harley's mind later, maybe even thinking that the seeing the beauty of her Eden would be enough. Dead Harley can't have her mind changed.
@@AlyssMa7rin Hmm well thats a great what if story and would be interesting but sadly all I did see is what happened in the episode which is her choosing to drop harley once she got what she wanted.
For those who are worried, the showrunners have confirmed that Harley & Ivy will never break up as long as they have a say. With that said, I am curious about what the next episode will be.
hah! lets not go crazy anti hero is the best she gets hahaha she still sucks the show is potrayed from the villain POV Ivy's motive this season is meant to be her sole motiv the whole time they cushioned it im not saying they didnt give harley growth but shes not a full fledge "hero" she just stopped her partner from being full fledge villain.
Anti Villain, very selfish and borderline narcissistic and sociopathhic; but in the end understand the larger picture and will help when needed, that's what happened to the Joker, he's a socialist so he's technically an anti Villain as he only tortures NERDS lol.
Harley’s selflessness is easily one of her greatest traits. Whether in the face of letting her best friend go thinking she’d be happy with Kiteman, to putting aside her grudge against Batman to help him get through his trauma of losing his parents, to in the face of literally death itself to prove to her beloved (and future wife) that killing innocent people is fucked up. In the end, Harley always puts the wants, needs and lives of those she loves and cares about over herself-even if life has to beat the shit out of her in the process. And yet she always manages to get back up and keep on going. Give a massive hand for Harley F. Quinn.👏👏👏👏
@@willianvos3521 this what am I talking, when they make villains good guys it makes batman somehow worst, and people forget all the bad thing that the villains did.
And there's the difference between Anti-Hero and Villain. One doesn't follow all the rules but keeps it within the "do what's right" realm. While the other tries to change the world by force from their own effed up perspective. Gods, Harley should've had that figured from the start.
Harley forced Ivy to recognize the principle of universality. You might think something is ok when it happens to *other* people, but what if it were happening to your loved ones… or yourself? Is the action still ok when the shoe is on the other foot? By getting infected, Harley tested if Ivy had applied the principle of universality. There were already hints of this by Ivy preserving her favorite restaurant and musicians. When Harley became infected, Ivy realized that she didn’t want to lose Harley to zombification and thus the whole plan was wrong.
@@oksobasicallyimmonky No, they didn't. It requires a little reading comprehension, but they are specifically referring to the reasons why Harley stopped when talked down and why Ivy didn't. Ivy didn't stop until she selfishly wanted to save her girlfriend.
Ivy: Loves Harley more than anything Ivy: Proves it by giving up Eden without hesitation for Harley Ivy: Shows no anger toward Harley, is just relieved that she's OK Other commenters: OMG Ivy just sacrificed her plants for Harley, so now she's gonna dump Harley... for her plants. Wow that's some contradiction right there.
Not a contradiction at all, you simply mess up the timeline of what is going on, yes, for now, Ivy put her dream on hold, longterm, it will not be a healthy relationship at all, as Ivys and Harleys viewpoit as of how to reach their dreams differs vastly, Ivy would and will again, sacrifice innocent lifes, it is pretty clear that she does not give a fuck for anyone or anything outside her selfish desires, she did not stop this, for harley, if she would have, she would have done so without Harleys sacrifice, she did it, because she is in love with harley, purely selfish thinking, so short term, great, longterm, it is not going to be a healthy relationship at all.
I LOVE this show! Ivy telling Harley that she inspired her to do this, all the while she's horrified but also happy to see her being her best self. Chef's kiss. Tbh tho, now Ivy has perfected her formula and has grown more powerfull than ever before, she can still create Eden (but without zombies this time) this is not the end of her plan, it's just a setback.
While this is true, she also saw that Eden hurt Harley. And by extension, everyone else. Ivy isn't a monster in this universe so it's going to make her think twice.
Poison ivy has always been evil. In the comics, the relationship between Ivy and Harley was as manipulative as it was between Harley and Joker, minus the physical abuse.
At least the stayed true to one of the important points on the HarleyxIvy ship, the reason why they are non-exclusive girlfriends and not girlfriends, because Ivy is an Eco terrorist and is more than willing to commit mass murder in order to restore and save nature, while Harley, since she has been apart from the Joker has begun to find some humanity within her, hell I think she is part of the bat family right now in the comics.
While it may or may not be canon, they certainly have fun with Harley being a batfriend in the Wayne Family Adventures comic. A highly recommended read, btw, if not just for actually wholesome Batman for once.
I think they are touching on that but also making the show and their relationship more about their ability to change and become better people and helping each other do that. Ivy would be more willing to commit mass murder to save the planet but she clearly was ready to immediately give that up to save Harley and I think it shows she has the ability to grow and be a little bit less of a misanthrope, with Harley as kind of her anchor. She's already become less of a loner through her relationship with Kiteman and friendship with Harley + crew. I think she still has a ways to go, but I think the whole point is finding middle ground between her terraforming dreams and maintaining meaningful relationships and caring a bit more about humans.
It's good to have Ivy's classic look back. Also, since she's a plant good now, why didn't she just make a new island of Carbon sucking plants to stop global warming instead of a zombie apocalypse her girlfriend was against
Global warming is problem for people and there infracture than plants. So she would change the atmosphere but climate change would not be the reason is which plant word she prefer.
Global warming might be challenging for some plant life, but it's a pretty good way to get rid of humanity. The plants will adapt to warmth and carbon, though salt water will be a problem. Meanwhile, humans will fight each other to the death for the last few habitable pieces of land.
I don’t think so. This was super rushed and honestly it didn’t give us time to really think and simmer on it like the ivy’s death did. Here it was like a snap of the finger and everything is completely back to normal, no consequences for anyone. With ivy’s death it really hit, there were consequences to it and the arc spanded atleast 3 episodes. I think this season has been lackluster and i feel like crunching the season down to 10 episodes has a lot to do with it
@@nickmtz1078 i agree not only that but from episode 4 onwards the animation got really toned down and not just the animation the sound and themes as well there soo many moments in which you are hearing only the characters with no soundtrack what so ever i love harley quinn but after episode 3 something happend
@@liviub5282 I think that with this particular episode, at least, the entire point is that Ivy would give up anything at the drop of a hat to save Harley
Wait a minute Poison Ivy stop Harley Quinn from taking over Gotham when she was using granny goodness powers and nearly destroyed Gotham and now Harley Quinn stops Poison ivy from taking over Gotham when Poison Ivy became much more powerful and turning Gotham into a garden house talk about a deja vu
I think its a great way to show not only how much they love and care for each other, but how they're always going to hold each other accountable for their actions and when they go off course.
This is so much growth for Harley tbh. When she was with Joker, she did whatever he did whether it was right or wrong. Now she finally has own identity and morals and tells Ivy straight up that she doesn't agree, knowing that they'll still love each other regardless
I think it's funny that everyone is arguing about how good or bad Harley is for trying to talk Ivy out of destroying Gotham and then sacrificing herself to save it, forgetting that the real reason she does that is so Batgirl and Nightwing don't kill Ivy. She only did it to save Ivy, saving Gotham was a positive happenstance 🤷🏽♀️
I think she did it for both. Harley saw all the mess in the City (and helped the Bat-Family "cleaning up") but also know that the Bats will kill ivy if she dident stop her. Harley sayed it as clear as she can. This is just not the right way for her.
@@fj1659 It could be both, I just think her biggest motivation for sacrificing herself was so the Batgang wouldn't kill Ivy. If they wouldn't have said they were going to kill her, I don't think she would have sacrificed herself. She may have found another way to appeal to Ivy to stop her, but not that way. Not sure if that makes sense, but it makes sense to me.
I like how the show always comes in full circle. In season one it was Harley changing from jokers girlfriend into her own person at the end. In season two it was Harley changing from the beginning into the better person that Ivy wanted her to be. Now in this season it was Ivy being a terrible leader into becoming a great and confident leader. Just fantastic
I get Ivy's desire to make a plant paradise, god knows earth needs more plants, but creating human plant zombied was really extra and unncessarily hostility instilling.
Poison Ivy gave me MAJOR scarlet witch vibes this whole episode like she basically cast the hex and then took it down for love like wth kinda WandaVision mashup is this I LOVE IT
That FUUUUUHHHHHHHH at the end is relatable hahaha when you give up something knowing it’s bad for you it’s just frustrating hahaha but at the end it was the right thing to do
I really appreciate this show because there’s not really a simple answer. It’s complicated. Yes, Ivy wants Gotham to be a Green paradise, and yes Ivy still very clearly cares about a few people. The paradise Harley was thinking of was this romantic, beautiful, and ultimately, harmless environment. While Harley is BEYOND supportive, she still has lines she won’t cross. Ivy is more “the end justifies the means” and that makes sense considering her understandable hatred for most of humanity. But at the end of the day, she’s still very human and on the verge of achieving everything she could have wanted with the Green, she threw it all away in a second for Harley. For love. That’s why I love Ivy so much, because she’s *so* human despite loathing humanity, it’s ironic. Honestly, Batman and Ivy are similar in the way that they are so fuckin emotionally constipated lmfao
Question: do you think this is the real Ivy? And the one we knew for 2 and a half seasons is just a psychologically socialized version constructed by Dr. Quinzel ?
Not gonna lie, but that tree zombie transformation actually looks quite painful considering how much pain everyone, including Harley Quinn and Dr. Psycho, was all in.
See this is why I always had a problem with Ivy's whole shtick of "fuck the humans" in this show, Harley is human and she can't be a part of Ivy's "Eden" if it means screwing over humanity.
Ivy is a hypocrite. Shes like a racist who hates black people but befriends a black person because in her mind they’re not like the other black people. Harley being an exception to the destroy all humans rule just proves there’s a flaw in her beliefs. You don’t TRULY hate humans
I think claiming Ivy hates humanity is a bit shallow to her goals, Ivy is the sort who gets far too caught up in the big picture that she loses sight of little details. She doesn't hate humans, she loves Harley and Kiteman, adores Selena and in comics has a fondness for the birds of prey and Bruce. She cares about children and she when situation allows will protect people on the greater while. But she is a madwoman- there is a reason why she belongs in arkam and not another super prison. And it's because she is sincerely deluded into the belief that if plants ruled than nature would be healed. Which puts her often in conflicts with Swamp Thing because he is part of a Balance one Ivy seeks to overthrow without considering the consequences. In fact most of Ivy's big arcs have been her doing something impulsively without considering the ramifications of her actions and someone having to talk her down or subdue her.
I still don't get how Harley was expecting Ivy plans not to hurt innocents peoples, it's not like Ivy ever hided her comtempt of humanity. How did she expected the whole "turning a whole metropole into a jungle" to play off exactly? she look super naive right now.
In defense of Harley, she is a survivor of a really destructive and toxic relationship so she's used to be blind in love. Most people after getting out of those LONG relationships and finding a new one expect them to be their hero or someone good. So I can understand Harleys naiveness
@@thekombater7060 She got out of a toxic, abusive relationship with a sadistic mass murderer, after cheerfully helping him carry out violent crimes numerous times. She's not naive because of the relationship with the Joker; she was already quite the fantasist since she thought hooking up with him was a good idea in the first place. Her naivety is part of her character and she's slowly overcoming it over the course of the whole show
@@abyssslayer Even if the spores don't harm humans directly, that's still going to destroy Gotham infrastructures, usines, centrales energies... peoples will lose their jobs and likely their homes, hospitals won't work nor would supermarket. Even without direct harm, it's going to be really bad.
I'm really glad they didn't stretch this out by turning Ivy evil for the rest of the season. With all the buildup, it really looked like they were going for that.
Actually would make her more interesting. She seems bored or uninterested most of the times unless is something to do with flora. This was her awakening, and IMHO the first time she felt like herself in years. Ofc can just be a powertrip. But with the green, and learning her potencial, i think she isn't done. Gotham may be safe, but who knows about Metropolis...
it may seem like some sort of emotional blackmailing, but I think it was almost the only way for harley to get through to ivy at the moment. Harley is fine with ivy killing CEOs or politicians that are directly responsible for mass pollutions and harley has even helped killing them, but innocent ppl who can be educated and change is where harley draws the line. Remember harley's a psychiatrist, so she truly wants to help clients, just as she wanted to help joker and ivy and bruce. Her stance as a human and as ivy's friend/girlfriend/psychiatrist was never to completely support ivy as the plant queen and wipe all humans out, cuz harley herself is human too and she understands that some human connection and love are worth preserving - rather she wanted to help ivy to connect her plant side and her human side, and learn to differentiate good people and the bad ones, and make a choice to coexist with good ppl. Harley gifted ivy with a plant back at arkham in S1 (?), and she's well aware that ivy could totally kill her with it - she dared ivy to make a choice. Does it feel good to receive a kind-hearted gift from someone? Yes. Even if it's from a human? Yes. Then is it possible that not all humans are horrible? Is real connection possible? Do you want a real connection that feels good? and if so would you still kill everyone on earth indifferently regardless? Or do you prioritize better and leave room for possible connections? And would you gift innocent ppl such possibility by sparing their life for now? Plants and ivy are basically the same one entity; if there isn't any humans on earth but only plants, ivy would be completely alone, cuz she will have no one else to connect to. Harley wanted ivy to love herself AND be able to love others because life is so much happier this way, and Harley tried her best to let ivy understand such love, even if it costs her life. Harley and Ivy are so different yet they're helping each other heal and grow and if this is not true love then I dunno what is :>
Let's think about what will happen in the final episode? 1) Harley, Ivy and Bane will be the new members of the Suicide Squad. 2)The Joker: Bang bang bang "accidentally" Batgirl: Ahhh I got hurt!
@@papaadot9369 Yeah, me neither. I don't think Joker would suddenly trade his position as mayor and his loving family just to kill BatGirl. That's what the old Joker would've done. But not this one.
Even when dressed up as Ivy and acting like Ivy, this version just doesn't feel like Ivy at all. I don't think she's a bad character but even Harley feels closer to her original counterpart than she does. Well, at least we have DCSHG's Ivy to compensate.
I woke up early to catch this episode and I didn't really get to see the ending that well because I was half-awake. Now that I've watched it, I can say this: Yes, Ivy was going through with her plan to terraform Gotham City and all that, but what I found interesting is that it took zombies to make it go through as I thought it would mostly be Ivy herself achieving that dream. I am proud of Harley for two things, sacrificing herself for Bane so at least he gets some closure, and second, risking her life so that Ivy realizes what she did was wrong. At the end when she looks at her surroundings, you can tell she messed up, big time. I thought Ivy was going to be mad at Harley for thrwarting her plan, but they hugged it out, which for me was very touching. Let's see how this plays into the season finale next week.
Season 1: Harley Quinn wants to be in the Legion of Doom so she can prove to everyone that she's more than just Joker's sidekick and (former) girlfriend, but unfortunately, it nearly costed her relationship with her team and (most notably) Poison Ivy. Middle of Season 2: A friendzoned Harley wants to take over all of Gotham City with the help of Dr. Psycho and Darkseid's parademons, but Poison Ivy's words to Harley made Harley realized that taking over Gotham is not what she wants. Near the end of Season 3: Ivy wants to turn Gotham City into her own Garden of Eden because of her hatred for humanity and love for plants, but unfortunately, it nearly costed Harley's life as she almost became an undead creature who would be under Poison Ivy's control. Am I the only person who notices a (possible) theme here?
I have a theory This show is Harley using her knowledge of psychology to help Gotham as a whole from Ivy to even one of her greatest adversaries: The Batman himself
2:26 / 2:27 I’ve never really been into DC or superhero content in general (including marvel/mcu) but it’s nice to see a character I really liked have a complete turnaround and do something to confirm their growth as a character. Harley probably shouldn’t have tried to sacrifice herself, but it proved that she still sympathizes and cares about people (i mean she is a psychologist/psychiatrist?) even if her past actions as a villain were inhumane before.
Weirdly enough, Ivy and Joker now have something rather major in common. They both were willing to instantly give up their dreams when their loved ones were in danger due to those dreams.
Holy fkn hell Kaley Cuoco and the animators really sold how much pain Harley Quinn was in. Someone who's used to and conditioned by experience to endure pain can squeeze out words but its still getting overwhelming just due to how awful it is being turned into fucking splinters
Unfortunately that's the very personality trait that got her sucked into Joker's orbit. Harley was trying to save the Joker. Harley tends to do whatever she's trying to do with her whole heart and without really counting the cost. She's extremely altruistic, which is normally a heroic trait but she is so self sacrificing that it turns her into a complete wild card. What you get out of Harley Quinn is based almost entirely on who her passion is focused on at the moment. She's obsessive and very clingy and will remake herself in her idol's image. That's why Ivy's perfect for her. the amoral Joker encouraged Harley to abandon her morality, which she did all too easily. Ivy may be an extreme misanthrope but she's got a moral code, which encourages Harley to focus on her own.
Harley could've went with the argument of how "un-Iden" this was, It only had one species of one plant and its the mutated version. Not only that, the animals become plants, so in the end if this continued the plants would have just been doing what humans have been doing and there'd be no balance... probably I don't know, maybe she can make her own version of animals or something and actually create an ecosystem instead of a hive mind of a world.
