Lucius Malfoy was a Death Eater and was in Voldemort's inner circle. When Voldemort was defeated by baby Harry, many of his followers were arrested, including Lucius, but he gave a sob story about being under the mind control curse (the Imperious Curse) and gave his coin purse a little shake and was released. If you remember, during Moody's (or Barty Crouch Jr's) lecture on the Unforgivable Curses, many followers of Voldemort claimed that they were under the Imperious Curse. There were some who believed that Harry defeated Voldemort because he was a powerful dark wizard, and Lucius believed Harry had the potential to become the next Dark Lord. Hoping the Malfoy family could be in his good books, Lucius encouraged Draco to be friends with him. Imagine his disappointment when Harry turned out to be nothing he hoped for.

In the book Harry did name the Death Eaters that appeared, but #4 was nearly twice as long as the earlier books. They cut a lot out. Other stuff they changed, a lot. In the books Hermione is described as bushy-haired and with rabbity front teeth. No one in Hogwarts could recognize her at the dance at first. I liked the (very different) book account of how he got the golden egg. We didn't have a dragon wreaking havoc everywhere. In fact none of the dragons (all brooding mothers) were willing to go very far from their eggs. That's what made them so dangerous. The scene was written as a dialog inside Harry's head, with him seeing the dragon as a very large quidditch opponent. I've enjoyed watching your reactions; the sound effects are a nice touch. :)

Viktor Krum is underrated. In the books he was presented as being just a bit shy and awkward, and spent hours in the library watching Hermione before he got up the courage to speak to her. He does briefly show up again in the 7th book, but the scene was cut from the final movie :(

1:12 - he returned to the Dursleys home for the first part of the summer. Ron, Fred George and Arthur Weasley (their father) actually travelled to Privet Drive to pick up Harry personally by using floo powder (travelling through green flames like in the second movie), but the Dursleys had blocked their fireplace and installed an electric one. To get through Mr Weasley had to blast through the fireplace with magic, ruining half the Dursleys livingroom, making them furious, and on top of that Fred and George also pranked Dudley on the way through by "accidentally" dropping magical candy on the floor. When Dudley picked one up and ate it, his tongue got jinxed and started growing out of control, almost strangling Dudley which made Vernon flip out, starting to throw items towards Mr Weasley to fight the "evil wizards" off. Harry takes the floo powder to the Burrows (Weasleys house) and leaves Mr Weasley to solve the situation. 2:25 - The Irish team won. In the book we get to actually see the whole game, and it showcases Victor Krums actual quidditch/flying talent, as he almost literally wipes the floor with the enemy teams seeker. The Irish have over 150 point lead due to the Irish chasers just being a whole other class above the Bulgarian team, but Krum catches the snitch, meaning that the Bulgarian lost by very few points. It made for a very rare result where the team that caught the snitch didn't actually win the whole match :) 2:35 - In the book, the world cup viewers are camping on a muggle-owned camping place, and the death eaters kidnap the muggle owner and his family, levitating them high above the ground. There's TONS of security at the event with the Ministry of Magic there to defend the people, but they cannot just attack the death eaters because that risks the lives of their muggle hostages. Also, Harry doesn't get knocked out and then left to "sleep" peacefully in the middle of the battlefield. Him, Ron and Hermione escape together into the forest and a lot of stuff go down that would be too much to explain in a youtube comment. They hear and see the Dark Mark get conjured, but they do not get to see who did it. 5:45 - The movies exaggerated the Krum and Hermione part a lot. There wasn't *much* to them beyond friendship from Hermiones side, at least not until after the Yule Ball :) 6:55 - He's extracting a memory from his brain to store in his pensieve! 7:10 - there's a lot more to this than the movie shows. It ties in with what Ron saw in the mirror of erised in the first movie. He's the sixth son following 5 very successful (in their own ways) brother whom all did splendidly at hogwarts in different ways. He's always been overshadowed by them with big expectations on himself, and then he became best friends with the famous Harry Potter, being overshadowed even there aswell. He never truly believed that Harry put the name in himself, it was just "the droplet that made the goblet overflow" after years of being "inferior" to everyone around him. 8:20 - yeah... well The Triwizard tournament is a very old tournament that was incredibly dangerous and often did claim the lives of the contestants, it's only now when they brought the tournament back when they made it *a lot* safer... But still pretty damn dangerous lol 13:55 - it's actually Dobby who gives Harry gillyweed in the books! We find out that Dobby has started working at Hogwarts in the fourth year, and he reappears every once in a while in books 4, 5 and 6 at Hogwarts :) 14:50 - those are Grindylows! 15:18 - there's a HUUUUUGE chunk of story here that get completely axed by the movie (understandbly but regretably...) that is way too much to describe in this youtube comment. But it involves Mr Crouch being held hostage under the imperious curse for months, eventually breaking free from it temporarily to escape to hogwarts, before he gets murdered. Was always disappointed in how they just kinda walk across him laying dead on the ground randomly in the forest instead of what *actually* happened when Harry found him there. It was suuuuch a good and creepy scene in the book! 16:10 - yeeea they dropped the ball on this one in the movie aswell. In the book the son cries out in panic and terror claiming his innocence, and as a reader you believe him. And you haven't seen anything of him before this in the book, so you have no reason to suspect him of anything. 22:15 - in the book he does tell the minister of magic himself. Fudge however does not believe Harry because he's too scared to accept the fact that Voldemort could be back, so he goes into hardcore denial. When Harry starts giving him the names of the Death Eaters he just tells Harry that he probably just found those names in old reports of people who were once cleared from being death eaters 23:30 - I believe the reason Draco wanted to be his friend in the beginning is simply just because Harry was famous and influential, making Draco take an interest in him. Dracos mother actually does make an appearence in the book at the Quidditch World Championship :) she is a pureblood wizard and appears in a later movie. And they are very aware that Lucius was/is a death eater! It might seem like I hate the movies with how much I complain about it and praise the books, but it's not the case! I appreciate the movies and books as 2 very different things, I just enjoy answering questions/mistakes/gaps the movies make for people who might be curious =)

I love the lessons these movies teach. Harry didn't really do anything spectacular in any of the movies honestly.... except he stood up for what is right, never got too selfish, and never gave up no matter how hard it was. That's why he is the best, and we can be too. Great reaction as always!

I remember my grandfather took me and all my cousins to see these movies as they came out when we seen the Irish quidditch team all of us being Irish in a cinema in Ireland the whole cinema was cheering and singing "You'll never beat the Irish, no matter what you do. You can put us down and keep us out, but we'll come back again". Ireland won the Quidditch Cup. Crum caught the Snitch and keot his record as the best Seeker, but Ireland was so far ahead on points they still won anyway. And in the book, the better seats were higher up. The movie also cuts out another House Elf, Winky, who playsxa part in the early story as being in pissession of the wand that cast the Dark Mark spell - house elves can do magic in their own way , but are not allowed to wield a wand. She was "given clothes" by Crouch as punishment, and ends up so devastated she becomes addicted to butterbeer. An addiction she is unable to overcome for several years, watched over by Dobby (now a paid employee of Hogwarts) and the House Elves that work at Hogwarts in the traditional manner of being bonded to the property. She has a background redemption arc where she overcomes her addiction and puts her life back together.

Can't tell you about Draco's mother without giving away spoilers of the later movies, sorry. I can say, she does show up in the later movies.

I love that you got hung up on the Malfoys. You meet the mother in movie 6. Lucius being a death eater is pretty laid out in movie 2, at the end scene with him, Harry and Dumbledore, except Dumbledore can't call him out because he's got a lot of political power.

My second favorite movie villain Voldemort makes his first appearance in his true form played by Ralph Fiennes (Amon Goeth from Schindler’s List). Funny thing is that when he makes his first appearance, I didn’t recognize him. I had to take a look into his eyes and hear his voice then I realized that it was the same guy who played Amon Goeth from Schindler’s List.

The next one is one of my favorites. The book has my favorite Harry Potter quote of all time. When I tell people this story is about the power of love some laugh but it truly is. Love for family and love for friends. Something evil folks can never have.

One early clue that Lucius was a Death Eater was back in The Chamber of Secrets. Remember when Harry freed Dobby with his sock? If you listen closely to the point where Lucius was about to cast the spell (being blasted back), he said "Avada..." Which basically means, he was about to straight up kill Harry. Who else in the whole story uses that forbidden spell so lightly?

This has always been my favorite Harry Potter movie.

Everytime I see the dragon challenge and Harry and his Dragon tearing up the roof of Hogwarts I feel for Argus Filch because he's the one who has to climb up there and fix it.

It's well acted, well directed, well edited (sound and video), well scored musically, well casted and saturated with atmosphere. Right off the bat you know that this is going to be a darker, more brooding, more serious, more mature 'Harry Potter' film, even though immediately after seeing the old muggle man get killed, the scene cuts to Harry and his friends going to a massive Quidditch game. 11:28 - Radcliffe said in an interview about the film that one of the things he loved about Harry as a character was that he was total rubbish when it came to interacting with girls LOL. 12:35 - that was a real English band that surprised all the actors; their reactions are real. It was all planned by the director and other various members of the film crew.

Fun fact, the GoF begins the same way in the book instead of the usual first chapter at the Dursleys. The book also features Death Eaters for the first time at the world cup in their old ways. Told you the world building was about to kick off. Beauxbâtons isn't supposed to be an all girls school in the book, Nicholas Flamel founded it. And the girls robes were designed by a French designer. Fleur Delacour is also played by a French actress, Clémence Poésy. I like how Krum kinda looks like Napoleon when he enters the Great Hall very iconic. JK Rowling mocked her former proffession as a journalist when she added Rita Skeeter to the story... The Ministry and the department of International Magical Cooperation had banned the Triwiazrd Torunament for years because it was too dangerous, real trials with dangerous magic and no option to bail out because of the magical contract. I wouldn(t care about eternal glory. You've got to understand thar Ron is very insecure about himself, he's from a poor family and the 6th child of his broterhood, Ginny is the last. He always had second hand clothes and books and wands and never was paid much attention to begin with. Not that his parents are bad but they had a lot to take care off with those damned twins and Ginny. And Harry kinda eclipses Ron when his mother took Harry in affection. So he's kinda jealous. Moody vs Malfoy still makes me laugh after all these years I can't be tired of it ! The scene on the roof with the dragon, Daniel Radcliffe did the stunt himself and was terrified. During the ball scene, Daniel didn't even know how to dance, hance why he's shot only above the legs. He couldn't stand staying eyes opened under water for more than fifteen seconds at a time. I'll let you wonder about Snape and let the story tell you what must be known about him, it is important later on. The maze scene is better in the book, much more diverse and interesting trials. Poor Cedric, had Harry followed his advice and took the cup alone, Cedric would still be alive... Oh don't worry the real Moody is good, mental, yes but good. Ironically, Barty Crouch Jr was so good at impersonating him that he fooled even Dumbledore. And also he ironically gave students good lessons against the Dark Arts, you'll see that in the books. Lucius is able talk his way out of situations, he's eloquent and snobbish and also, well connected, you'll see that later. So he can also buy loyalties and connections. He falsly apologized to buy his freedom. He is still a bloody coward. Draco didn't know much about what happened to Harry, just knew that Harry was famous and hoped to connect to somebody famous, Slytherins like the high connections in spheres of power, it is after one of their main traits with their cunning. Draco became an antagonist once Harry was sorted into Gryffindor, the antagonist of Slytherin. You will see Draco's mother, Narcissa, in the last three movies. She plays a small but crucial role. She merely follows her husband and was also part of a pure blood family. But she is more discreet about her beliefs, more pudic if you will. Draco didn't know about his father being a Death Eater until the fifth movie I guess. The threat posed by Voldemort is growing by the minute from now on and who knows what his strategy will be as of now... I think you'll find the next one interesting and very reminicing of recent or at least contemporanean events and schemes.

when you read the bok you will know what was done so that harry name came out of the goblet, but to explain it, a 4th fake school was created, that did not have the age restriction, and harry was put as the only student of this 4th fake school, that is why it was a sure thing that he name also came out, because he was the only student of a non existent school.

2:40 Deatheaters as a named concept were introduced in the fourth book as well so it's not much different from the movie.

Harry told Dumbledore everything and in the hospital wing he told the minister for magic (Fudge) about Malfoy and all other names. Fudge did not (want to) beliefe Harry due to a pretty nasty press campaign Rita Skeeter did against Harry, portraing him as mental. In the end there was only the word of a "mental" teenager who told a doomsday like story. The hole Rita Skeeter ark is way bigger in the books, sadly they left her out in the next one. The plot still works without her but its kind of hard to catch in first viewing and leads to some unanswered questions in film 4+5

It was right after seeing this movie with a friend that this friend lend me the books. I had found the movies good, but didn't understood the "Pottermania". When I read the books, I was totally hooked up. So I can only suggest you to give a try at the books, they are so much better than the movies (and that doesn't say the movies are bad at all). An dthey will probably answer many questions you may have, even now you have seen all the movies.

In the book, Harry name dropped every single Death Eater that appeared at the Graveyard. Unfortunately, those were all the names of folks who were acquitted of being Death Eaters, so the Minister of Magic did not believe him. Edit: It is debatable at this point if Draco truly knows the scope of his father's past, but I'd be willing to wager he does. Also, he wished to become friends with Harry in the beginning not because he genuinely liked him, but because he was famous. Harry realized this, and that is why he turned down the offer.

I always wondered how Lucius Malfoy managed to reach his cane so far up to hook Harry's wrist at the World Tournament, when they were so far below them to begin with, outside the reach of any cane. Then, with all the security present from the Ministry of Magic, and all the spectators, they couldn't defeat a handful of Death Eaters?

The Goblet of Fire is my favourite HP book. The gloves came off. Voldemort is back! TGoF is my favourite HP movie, also. I especially like Krum's depiction - way cooler. Looking inimidating and grumpy all the time, but being a good guy, really. Reminds me of my academic studies :-D ...

Serious had a burning desire to talk with Harry

In the book it's explained that Mrs Crouch was never the same after Barty Sr sent their son to Azkaban and when she was dying of cancer she convinced Barty Sr to help her exchange places with their son using polyjuice potion to fool the Dementors of Azkaban. For years after that Barty Sr has been keeping Barty Jr locked in a room at home under a spell or something that keeps Jr under control but at the beginning of the book he's escaped. The book opens with aurors arriving at Mad Eye Moody's in response to a disturbance which turns out was Barty Jr overpowering and switching places with Moody to gain access to Hogwarts and Harry Potter.

Harry roles a natural 20 on his reflex save and collects the egg....... And Harry starts to grow up and realize how serious this all is.

I still like it. •Yeah, getting passed the Age Line was one thing, convincing the Goblet of Fire that you are not using an aging potion is another and the Goblet gets a list of all students and their years. •Yes, someone used a powerful Confundus Charm to convince the Goblet of Fire that there was a fourth school and that Harry Potter was it's only student. Thus it's a Quadwizard Tournament. •Dumbledore has a Pensieve in his office, which allows him to draw memories from his mind and go back and reflect on them. In the Harry Potter series, memories take the form of a fluid, like water and can be drawn from tears. •If Rita Skeeter was in any other newspaper, she would lose her job because she just makes up 50% of what she writes. She's more of a tabloid writer than a journalist. •Mad Eye transforming Draco into a ferret and McGonagall's reaction - absolutely amazing. •Snape's disciplinary skills and deleted scene- also fantastic. •The creatures swarming Harry in the Second Task are called Grindylows, a sort of lake demon. •Snape is a character who you like to dislike at times, but ... I have said too much. You will have to wait regarding Snape. •Note, Mr. Filch has no business being near artillery. •Krum is under the effects of the Imperius Curse; he's not in control of his actions. •Like many loyal Death Eaters, Lucius Malfoy was able to avoid a deserved sentencing to Azkaban by claiming he was had been cursed by Voldemort, using the Imperius Curse. •Yes, Barty Crouch Junior spent a year using Polyjuice Potion to impersonate Mad Eye. •The Malfoys are a very prominent Wizarding family with friends in high places and it's the word of the patriarch of the family against a 14-year-old boy who doesn't get along with their son. Their first year, Draco was told to befriend Harry Potter to bolster their standing. Draco's mother is a pureblood and was originally a Black.

This movie cut and changed SO MUCH from the book, again I recommend you read the books. And again, I love the way you react to the movies, keep at it, very enjoyable.

It's not like "they kill children", a 17 yo is considered an adult, they know they can die and they entered the tournament by free will. It's like the Everest, it's sad when people die there, but they knew the risks when they tried to climb it. Giving permission to an adult is not killing him as it would be with a child.

In the books Harry does spill the beans on Lucius Malfoy, but no body believes him. Draco didn't know that his family was involved with Voldemort. The books are way more detailed than the movie, they give Victor Crumb and Fleur a bit more of a personality. The other schools aren't gender specific, they are mixed, just like Hogwarts.
