When Harry and Ron get to Hogwarts, it's funnier in the book. They make it to the Great Hall, hide at the doorway, and notice an empty seat at the staff's table. Harry: Hang on. Where's Snape? Ron: Maybe he's ill. Harry: Maybe he left because he didn't get the Defense against the Dark Arts job again. Ron: Maybe he's been sacked. I mean everybody hates him... Snape: Or maybe he's waiting to hear why you two were not on the train.
DanSolo0119 There's also an alternate scene made for the film where the Whomping Willow throws the car into the Black Lake, but Harry and Ron get rescued by the Merfolk that live there.
@@spiritualrice2066 I read about it in a book about the creatures in the Harry Potter films. The scene never got filmed, but it was in the script, and that script was included in this book. The Mermaids rescue Harry and Ron, but tell them they can't go to to the shore with them, as "the rocks will not be kind to our tails". Still, Harry thanks them for their help.
I always found it amusing that Dumbledore always knew Harry and Ron were there under the cloak. Also that Snape didn't even try he spoke as slowly as possible and Lockhart still couldn't block it showing just how useless he is
2:50 - they actually gave him that room in the first book after the letters to hogwarts started arriving. They got paranoid because the letters were adressed to "the cupboard under the stairs", so they moved him to Dudleys second bedroom (which he had for stockpiling his broken/old toys he wasnt using anymore) to hopefully "throw the wizards off" :) there are reasons why they took Harry in, but I'm not going to spoil that ;) 8:05 - yes indeed, it is better explained in the books! First of all - most people familiar with the history of hogwarts are aware that the heir attacks people "unfit" for magic, which is muggleborns and also squibs. Squibs are the opposite of muggleborns, where a person has magical parents but is born a muggle. I believe it is earlier that very same day after Harry returns to the castle from Quidditch practice, when he runs into Filch who scolds him harshly for leaving big mud trails throughout the castle, and Harry finds a letter in Filchs office that hints towards him being a squib. Filch notices that Harry found and read the letter. Several hours later - boom the chamber is opened again, and the person whom Filch had a row with earlier, and whom also knows that he's deemed unworthy by the heir, is standing right by his cat at the time of the attack. Not a random baseless accusation :) Good job on the video again!
This definitely is the movie with the greatest Impros. The Malfoy and Harry scene was pure impro because Tom Felton had forgotten his text. So he said "I didn't know you can read" and the Scene with Lucius Malfoy in the end was result of an artistic debate between Jason Isaac (the actor for Lucius) and Chris Columbus the director. Isaacs thought someone like Lucius wouldn't just leave without saying something, so Chris was like "whatever, make something up" And isaacs said "Let's hope, Mr. Potter will always be there to save the day." It took Dan by surprise because it wasn't in the script, but he at the moment was completely absorbed in his character (happens if you are really stuck in a role for a long time, that your mental world kind of swaps with the character) so he puffed out his chest, looked Jason straight in the eye and said "don't worry Mr. Malfoy: I will" Jason talked about this scene in several interviews. Once when asked about his opinion of the child actors, where he praised Daniel for that. He said "I only thought "damn that kid is good"" in the moment and he told the story again when asked about his favourite scene.
•Dobby is one of the favorite minor characters of Harry Potter. He's loyal to Harry, despite not being a house-elf of the Potters, but goes about protecting Harry in the wrong way. •Wizards live in a very different world from Muggles, so yes, they don't know about things as simple as a rubber duck or a phone. •Even Wizards have a black market. •Does that car have locks? •Wands can be expensive and the Weasley have multiple children and live paycheck to paycheck. •That scene was better in the book. In the book, I believe Malfroy gets beaten up by the Gryffindor Team. •It was literally wrong place, wrong time and they were the first ones to find it. •Even in the Wizarding World, leave first aid to the professionals, i.e. NOT LOCKEHART! •They're gossiping because being a Parseltounge is believed to be a Dark Wizard. •I believe someone whose name I will not say said that Polyjuice Potion tastes like Goblin piss. •"I didn't know you could read." - that line was added by Tom Felton and they kept it in. •I completely agree with Ron. "WHY SPIDERS? WHY COULDN'T IT BE FOLLOW THE BUTTERFLIES?!" •Plan B-Samwise Gamgee storms in and yells, "Let them go, you filth! LET THEM GO!" •Another Lord of the Rings reference - FOOL OF A TOOK! •Someone else reacting to the film asked the question and I was curious; Fawkes is the phoenix whose two tail feathers became the cores of Harry and Voldemort's wands. •The diary will have greater significance later on. •Regardless, Jason Isaacs can play a villain well. •Emma Watson commented that it would have been awkward to hug them both, hence the friction.
I don't agree with Ron, though : if you follow butterflies, they lead you to something worse... Mama! 😱😱😱 (it's a horror I saw recently 😅 really scary)
you're my new favorite movie reactor! you never fail to entertain me and make me laugh I've discovered you with LOTR, and now HP, both my favorite movie franchises :D
After this film, Chris Columbus steped down and Alfonso Cuarón took his place as the director in the next film. Richard Harris who played Dumbledore sadly passed away and was replaced by Michael Gambon.
It's funny that there are 3 unforgiveable curses, and the use of any of them is supposed to immediately mark you so the Ministry can send you to Azkhaban. Not that Lucius Malfoy completed the curse, but in later books another main character does and nothing happens to them.
@@jeffburnham6611 I don't think you are "marked" It is just that any use of them, no matter the circumstances means an Askaban sentence for life without trial.
Filtch thinks it is Harry who attacked the cat, in the books, because Harry discovered that Filtch is a squib (he is born in magical family but has no powers) and he thinks as harry knows his secret then he hates him because he is not magical. Also your kitty is ADORABLE.
I love the lessons these movies teach. Harry didn't really do anything spectacular in any of the movies honestly.... except he stood up for what is right and never gave up no matter how hard it was. That's why he is the best, and we can be too. Great reaction as always!
I feel as though you should know, due to the casting of Harry’s parents being the way it is it seems as though they died in their 30’s or 40’s. In the books they died at the age of 21, which is part of the whole tragedy of their death. More of the tragedy you will learn later but for now it is that they died young and left behind their 1 year old child. I wish they had casted younger actors for James and Lily simply to show the correct age for movie viewers, but nonetheless I love these movies as well as the books. I love your reactions by the way!!! All of my favorite series: Harry Potter, Star Wars and lord of the rings + the hobbit!!!!
Filmmakers often have to make age choices that help translate the work to the screen. Example - In The Phantom Menace, Padme was supposed to be 14, but casting the part so young would have been problematic for audience appeal. Same for the Ender's Game series. Different mediums simply require different choices, so it's best to treat each medium as its own entity.
You’re absolutely right which is why regardless the film is great the way it is. It is best to treat each medium as its own I agree, I just wanted to let her know that Harry’s parents were 21 for no reason except added fact to be honest. Though I completely agree with your points because obviously there has to be certain changes to help translate the work. Especially in terms of casting with different ages because especially now a days it’s problematic, whereas a movie like the 1968 adaption of Romeo and Juliet where I believe they cast actors who were the ages of the characters themselves at the time. It was fine then, but times are different. Thank you for bringing up this point in filmmaking!!
@@iriscabej598 It will be interesting to see how accurate virtual (CGI) actors affect how movies are portrayed; especially where it comes to character ages. Going back to Ender's game, where it would be incredibly hard to find enough talented actors in the required age range (some as young as 6), virtual characters could make accurate casting possible. Of course, it would remain to be seen if such young characters would draw audiences the way older actors would.
@@spiritualrice2066 I don't know what to tell you, but I am always laughing. They are full of great humour all along the movie. Well, in the half blood prince until the final act. This part is very serious.
Cute and funny reaction D! Noticed that you changed the camera angle - all good - anyway, can't wait for the next one (my favorite of the saga) - Much love from the Philippines!
You say that your laugh is the sound of a guinea pig. I like hearing you laugh because it means that you're happy and enjoying yourself. Please never stop laughing
Thank you for the nice comment. I am happy I can make people laugh, and I am always amazed I reach out to thousands of viewers. Thank you so much for the support!
A little insight into mr. Filch. He's a curmudgeonly guy and he's a squib(non magic kid born to wizard parents) But he adores his cat, mrs. Norris, who he named after his favorite character in his favorite Jayne Austen book, Mansfield park. He's prickly on the outside, but he's gooey inside.
British fantasy author Tom Holt wrote a book named _Who's Afraid of Beowulf?_ In it we meet Starkad, a berserker. His friends call him "Honey Starkad" because he's so thick & sweet.
House Elves have in their enslaving spell the urge to beat themselves when they speak ill of their masters, they just can't help it, Dobby tries to resist it but it doesn't last long. The easiest way to make him stop that is to free him. The teleportation fire is the Flew network, mandatory for those who don't know how to Apparate or transporting a whole family, for others, there is still the Knight Bus that you must rememeber from the next movie. The petrifications leading to Harry being accused each time is mostly like that in the books, Harry appears to be conveniently on the place of the crime each time someone lese discovers the fact... As Snapes posted "he is probably in the wrong place at the wrong time." The Duelling club is a good idea, but obviously, with Lockhart at the helm... But with the context in mind, just note this for a later movie, that same context will come back later... Oh you love snakes? Damn you must be a Slytherin... Fortunately not all Slytherins were bad. the great Merlin was one ! The marvelous thing with Polyjuice potion is that the personnality of the suject you want to be reflects in the state of the potion itself. So wanting to impersonate a desipcable person, the potion will have poor taste and texture. A good target will have an amazing taste and texture. Yet the transformation is as painful, evenmore so if you change size and gender... Note the destruction of the Diary, it will become important later on as well. Hagrid is not stupid, he's spontaneous and naïve and shows a boundless admiration and loyalty for Dumbledore who prevented him to be thrown in Azkaban 50 years earlier... Don't worry you haven't seen the last of Dobby, he becomes kinda important in a way (more in the books though, so I think you'll like them). Dobby is an incarnation of true loyalty, one that doesn't need enslavement, one that is absolutely willingly genuine. When you'll read the booksn the first sentence of the first book will hook you up until the end.
The first Harry Potter i saw in cinema... i was 24 i think :D... then in three days, i have read the 4 first books and had to be patient to read the other :) Great reaction as usual, you're wonderful Duaffy :)
Fun Fact: 11:35 Tom (Draco) was supposed to say "I didn't know you had glasses" but he forgot his line, so he said "I didn't know you could read" instead😜😂
So the books explain why Harry has to go back to his evil muggle Aunt and Uncle's on Privet Lane between school years and why something as violent as the Whomping Willow is on the grounds of Hogwarts and why Filch is so evil to the young witches and wizards at Hogwarts.
The reason why the Dursleys can get away with mistreating Harry is because they know he's not allowed to use magic outside Hogwarts. Actually, in the books, Harry was able to keep his cousin array for a while, until they were informed of this
LOL funny you compare Dobby to Thranduil...in the Rankin/Bass cartoon production of The Hobbit, they Elven King actually did look like they were related.
Do you like horror? The haunting of Hill House is perhaps the best horror (and one of the best stories) in a long time. It’s not like most modern horror shows/films and it focuses more on the characters and theyir journeys than actual ghosts. And that makes it much scarier.
The way I see it, the Dursely’s have a negative view on wizards, especially after they gave them an extra child to take care of that they didn’t want. And they also just see them as freaks. As long as Harry is in their care they don’t want him becoming a “freak.” Not because they care for him and want a normal life for him, but so he isn’t even more of a problem for them, getting more out of their control. I could be wrong. I never actually thought much about it and I haven’t read the books. Anyone feel free to correct me.
I just love your reactions to the shows you watch on your channel. ❤️ You are just so darn cute I could eat you up! 😁 And your accent is absolutely adorable. 😉 I just have to know . . . What type of accent is it? You sound an awful lot like a friend of mine, Svetlana. She's originally from Russia, but moved to Canada when she was 11 years old and has since lost most of her Russian accent. She still has A accent, but it's difficult to define. It doesn't sound Canadian or American, and sounds vaguely European, but doesn't really sound like an accent from anywhere in particular. Anyway, that's what your accent reminds me of. Can you please tell me where you're from? Trying to place that cute little accent of yours is just driving me nuts 🤣.
“Your bird may have blinded the basilisk but it can still hear you!” I don’t know if being a magical creature gives it a loophole around this, but snakes cannot hear as they have no ears! Lol
I really love your reactions, you crying at Lord of the Rings touched me. As it is Halloween season, I have some suggestions for you if you don’t mind Ghostbusters- a great blend of horror and comedy, it’s often mischaracterized as an action movie because of a dumbass comment that Honest trailers said about “this is what action stars looked like in 1984!” It’s a witty science based comedy about a group of weirdos who learn a way to use particle physics and atomic energy to capture ghosts. Beetlejuice- similar to Ghostbusters, it’s a comedy with a lot of the trappings of a horror film, it is Tim Burton’s first major commercial success. It deals with the comedy of society by relating them to the problems of death in a bright, German expressionist afterlife filled with strange characters and bizarre locales. The Thing- perhaps the greatest sci-fi horror set on Earth ever made, it’s actually a remake of an earlier 50s film. The 50s film is good in its own way, but the John Carpenter version has some of the most unnerving practical effects ever seen.
18:39 I thought Samwise Gamgee was your man!? Just make sure that you get the extended versions of the two last movies, at least the penultimate movie. I think there's an important (deleted) scene it that everyone need to see!
Due to a strange set of circumstances I almost got to play the role of Hagrid in these movies. I know that sounds like a bold claim, but it is true. One of the executives at Kodak, the film company, who was in charge of movies promotions, had seen me perform at a Renaissance Festival and when she learned that they were going to make these movies she did everything she could to make sure the right people knew about me. Sadly, and obviously, I did not get cast in the role, and in fact Robbie Coltrane was the very first person they cast. There was then talk of me being a body double, and possibly playing Hagrid in his younger scenes, but they decided to go with an all British cast. It was a fun couple of months though. I DID get to be Hagrid at bookstores when each of the last three books came out. I'm glad to see that the character has such a treasured place in your heart.
What an wonderful experience, but I am sorry you didn't succeed the line. I would love to meet you in person and give you a big hug, mister Hagrid. I am sure you would have been amazing :D
@@DuaffyMS It's OK. I've had the chance to have a lot of wonderful experiences in my life even without that having happened. Please feel free to check out my videos, and maybe you will see why they wanted me for the role. As for hugs, I LOVE HUGS, and you have never truly lived until you have had a TROLL HUG!
This film is a reason why I have an arachnophobia. :D I hate spiders from the moment I saw this movie in the cinema. From that moment I am like Ron when I see a spider. :D
While watching it, his accent made it sound more "aroaneea" (I hope this helps to understand what I heard). But anyways, I was only being silly, not hating or anything :)
It was never my intention to make such long reactions. I assume we all just want to relax, so watching a 30min video reaction may be too long for most :) At least that's the feeling I had until now.
Could I please add to your list of movies to react-to? "The Man Without a Face" is a little B-movie with Mel Gibson about which I won't say anything in case you are willing to watch it.
One thing wizards are really horrible at - throughout the entire series - is criminal detection and law enforcement. How is it possible that no one ever asked Myrtle's ghost how she died? How is it possible not to tell the difference between a body eaten by a basilisk and one eaten by a spider? And there's also the standard question of why didn't anyone else hear the basilisk's voice? Sure, Harry was the only one who could understand it, but everyone should have been able to hear the hissing.
If it's a 1vs1 fight, definitely Shelob (it's way more aggresive). If it's Aragog with its kids vs Shelob... there could be a chance for Aragog to win because it outnumbers the other creature. What do you think?
I agree. I think Aragog is blind at this point. That being said, if Aragog wasn't blind, Shelob would still win because as you say it's 'way more aggressive', but also quite stealthy, when it stalked and paralyzed Frodo. But if Aragog's kids joined then Shelob would, probably, be overwhelmed.
UR LAUGH IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FEMININE SWEET LAUGH ANYONE CUD EVER COME ACROSS !! .. WOULD LOVE TO HEAR U SING IN UR LANGUAGE !! . WATCH AND REACT TO THE MOVIE " THE BRAVE " IF U HAVENT SEEN IT ALREADY THOUGH.
I have to honestly say I hate the way the Harry Potter stories make pathetic mockeries of fantasy creatures. For example, this is a phoenix ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qOqvILhW5Vo.html
