Reacting to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix FIRST TIME WATCHING 

Stephen King did a review of the book, and called Dolores Umbridge "the greatest villain since Hannibal Lector."

It’s never clarified in the movie, but it was Umbridge who sent the dementors to attack Harry

The unforgivable curses need to be backed up with power. Harry used Crucio on Belatrix and all it did was give her a jolt. 'You have to mean it," as they say. So someone good at heart will never be able to make any of the unforgivable curses stick as hard as a deatheater.

WHERE IS DUMBLEDORE AND VOLDEMORT FIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The Asian girl that "sold them out" was actually forced to drink a truth serum kind of potion as is mentioned by Snape when he says he ran out of it after Dolores spend it all. Don't be mad at the poor girl

It's a shame the movies cut this subplot out, but if you remember Ron's older brother, the pompous Percy from the previous films, the books had this whole subplot about how he took the ministry's side in this one and walked out on the family. Though the films never covered this, you can still see him at Fudge's side during certain scenes in this film. That's him holding Harry and Cho at 13:37

Well as it's not said in any of the movies Umbrage ordered the attack on Harry

It was Snape who had sent the Order to the Ministry after learning that Harry and his friends were missing....

No spoilers - just some context. When Harry's mother sacrificed herself to protect her son, it created a very powerful protection for him. This is why the killing curse rebounded back on the Dark Lord, and this is why Harry has to live with his only remaining family when he's away from school. Using Harry's blood when coming back to life removed *some* of that protection, but there's a reason (you will find out later) why Voldemort and Harry are so connected, and why Voldemort has such trouble killing him. The prophecy hints at this connection, and will pay off later to answer your questions. I really think you will like the later movies, even though they are much darker.

I love the lessons these movies teach. Harry didn't really do anything spectacular in any of the movies honestly.... except he stood up for what is right, never got too selfish, and never gave up no matter how hard it was. That's why he is the best, and we can be too. Great reaction as always!

You never disappoint, Duaffy. You pretty much reacted the way I imagined you would to Umbridge. Heck all of us probably hated her guts so much in this movie. That lady, bless her I forgot her name, is an excellent actor.

In the book, it's Trelawney who declared the prophecy to Dumbledore, she is actually competent, that's why he kept her in hogwarts as a professor, and when she was fired, Dumbledore replaced her with Firenze the centaur Harry met in the 1st movie/Book. There's also a scene in St Mungo's Hospital where they all go to see Arthur during christmas holiday, where they meet Neville with his granma visiting his parents. At the end of the book, we learn that the prophecy was concerning of a boy born at the end of july 1980, it could have been Harry or Neville, so Neville could have been the chosen one instead of Harry, but Voldemort chose to pay a visit to the Potters thanks to wormtail betrayal, and Neville's parents were tortured instead by Barty Crouch Jr, Bellatrix Lestrange and Rodolphus and Rabastan Lestrange. Bonus: Harry and Cho's relationship is absolutely toxic because they both are bad at it, but it's Cho's best friend who betrays Dumbledore's army ^^

This is my favorite movie of the series of all time. This movie focus on characters rather than the world which is fantastic! This has much better balance than all of the movies in the franchise combined. They cut the right things and kept the right things in. Biggest example is Quidditch. In the fifth book, Quidditch was a big part of the story but ultimately it didn’t fit into David Yates’s vision of studying characters rather than the world. Also The full Prophecy made by Trelawney is this; “The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches. Born to those who have thrice defied him. Born as the Seventh month dies. And the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have the power the Dark Lord knows not. And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.”

Bellatrix Lestrange is one of the best characters in Harry Potter, she is like Harley Quinn, a bit crazy, kinda hot and very evil.

Duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore is considered as one of the most epic fight in Harry Potter movies.

2:20 - The Dementors aren't truly loyal to Azkaban and the Ministry. They only care about one thing - which is feeding on peoples despair. They prefer to roam free and attack whatever they want, but wizards would destroy them for that, so they "compromise" by guarding the prison for the ministry, feeding from the despair of the prisoners. Voldemort, however, is willing to offer them their freedom. Since they aren't truly loyal to the ministry, and this aligns with their own desire, they join Voldemort instead. 5:13 - It's a plant known as "Mimbulus Mimbletonia" I believe! 7:20 - The quill is what's doing that, and the "ink" it uses is actually his own blood! 7:29 - Yeah, nargles do not actually exist. Luna Lovegoods father, Xenophilius Lovegood, is the editor of his own newspaper called "The Quibbler" which is highly regarded as a joke of a newspaper, printing farfetched stories, talks about creatures that don't actually exist and so on. 9:35 - I don't remember if they brought this up in the movie, but in the books it is made clear that the minister of magic is getting paranoid that Dumbledore is after his post as minister. A reason why he appointed Umbridge as the High Inquisitor at Hogwarts, and have her not actually teach casting spells, was because he feared that Dumbledore was raising his own personal army against him. Therefore the students decided to name their "rebellion" Dumbledores Army, as that's exactly what the ministry fears. 9:58 - it's actually Dobby that told Harry about The Room of Requirement, and Harry remembers Dumbledore mentioning the existance of the room from the Yule Ball last year. 10:47 - kinda stupid scene if you ask me, Ron would never even pretend that he could take on Hermione in a battle, and not a single person would act surprised that Hermione beat him. Really just looked like they wanted to force a GIRL POWER OWO moment in there that made no sense. 11:15 - 7 is considered to be the most powerful/potent magical number, and Ginny is the 7th child of the Weasley family :) 12:10 - not quite ;) 12:35 - he felt like he was the one controlling the snake in his dream, despite it not being actually true, and he struggles mentally a lot with guilt about the whole situation and feels terrible every time they thank him for saving Arthur. 13:25 - yet another scene that makes no sense. The Room of Requirement is an exceptionally powerful room that is *impossible* to breach from the outside without knowing what the room is transformed into and using the entrance normally with that in mind. It's even invisible on the Marauders Map. In the books Umbridge find out about the room from Cho Changs friend, Marietta Edgecombe, who tells her how to get in. Dobby gets there first however and warns Harry and the rest, but some of them, including Harry, get caught escaping the scene. Voldemort wants a few things. He wants to be the greatest and most feared wizard of all time, and he wants wizard supremacy. He doesn't want to kill all muggles, but he wants wizards to openly be their rulers. He desires power. The death eaters will of course still kill and torture muggles for their own fun, but if they killed them all there would be less people to control and hold power over for Voldemort. His biggest fear however, is death. I believe "Voldemort" in latin means "to run from death" or something along those lines. He is obsessed with immortality. Interesting thing about Professor Trelawney (Divinations teacher) is that almost every single prediction she said (at least in the books) did come true. MASSIVE RESPECT FOR DISTURBED \m/ Stupify is a great one but my fave is probably Just Stop ;)

Order of the Phoenix is such a well shot masterpiece. Unlike with Goblet, where they took out so much of what made the book fantastic, Order actually tightened up the story by omitting bits that dragged out, and expanding on the chore elements. Sirius Black for example was so much more of a compelling character in the film, than in the novel, and I love his scenes with Harry. Watching the film really paint Harry as a loner and being scrutinised by the Ministry was so well adapted. I loved this film!

Btw Cho Chang (at least in the movie, in the books it's very different and you can see even more clearly there that it's not her fault) was given the veritaserum potion by Umbridge and co. so that she was forced to tell the truth about where the hideout was, that's why Snape was mentioning the veritaserum while talking to Umbridge. Basically the film doesn't make Cho a focus of the film after that so people watching the first time miss that detail and believe she just ratted them out which is a shame

You are going to feel so bad when you find out about Cho and why she tattled.

It's not explained in the movies, but Luna's dad made up the existece of the Nargles because Luna was being bullied. People took her things and hide them from her. However, Luna was very aware that her father made up. She is a Ravenclaw, how can she not be aware that she is being bullied by her own classmates?

The Dementors's attacks are a big change in Dudley's character development. Though a Dementor attack typically forced a person to re-live the worst moments of their life, Dudley's life-so-far of luxury and greed contained no "worst moments," and therefore, during the attack, Dudley saw himself the way he truly was: a spoiled, rotten and cruel bully. He was thus forced, rather harshly, to realise he needed to change his ways. This led to him regretting his treatment of Harry. Dudley would later bring Harry a cup of tea, and left it at his door, and Harry accidentally stepped on it when he leaving his room, and believed it was another prank, but it was a genuine act of kindness by Dudley.

The main goal of Voldemort is to be immortal. His greatest fear if dying. Gaining power is the goal of everyone with delusion of grandeur. He thinks himself as being above everyone else. During the 5th book, he was happy to stay in the shadow, gaining new supporters (he sees them as pawns). He is not interested to be minister of magic (I guess being a public servant is not an attractive notion), having a puppet as minister is enough. I guess being recognized as the greatest wizard of all time is one of his goal, but I have nothing to back me on that. At the very least, he think of himself as the greatest wizard and see everybody else as inferior to him. He cares about nobody but himself, he has no friends.

If you like Mrs Weasley, watch her in a little movie called, "Educating Rita" with Michael Caine. She also had a brief role in "Kenneth Branaugh's Henry V" You may recognize Kenneth Branaugh as narcissistic Professor Gilderoy Lockhart.

The way she swears is such cute and gentle. You might take it as a compliment :-D

Richard Griffiths, the Actor who played Vernon, Harry's uncle, actually had no Fatsuite on... that was his natural body.... (He died in 2013 after difficulties with a Hearth surgery)

Voldemort is a puritan of blood although he is a half blood. His other goal is to be immortal

In the books, Umbridge reveals she was the one who sent the Dementors on Harry. No, she's not a Death Eater. She just refuses to believe Voldemort returned, and just like Fudge, wants appearances that the Ministry is doing a good job, and knew that Harry would either use the Patronus Charm or get his soul sucked out.

In case no one mentioned it in earlier movies... Sybil Trelawney is played by Emma Thompson... was the wife of Kenneth Branaugh (who played Prof Gilderoy Lockhart). She's appeared in movies with him before, such as in Henry V. (not sure they're still married).

10:28 Hell yea I remember "Stupify" by Disturbed. It was the first song I heard of theirs. Even before "Down w/ the Sickness." I've even seen them live a few times, but this one live performance of "Stupify" stuck with me and I've never forget it. I must've really enjoyed it at the time.

The like that really gets me in this movie is when Voldemort gets out of Harry and says “You’re a fool Harry Potter, and you will lose... everything” that line just really hurt I feel like it’s foreshadowing what could happen and watching this movie (even tho I have read the books prior to seeing it) I was not ready

I will never forgive the movie for killing part of my emotions... Sirius was so nice to harry and wanted to be his good godfather but the way he got killed off that way was really tragic , especially for Harry. Harry's acting actually terrified the actress for Bellatrix and she felt all his emotions

The prophecy could be referred to Neville as well as he was born on 30th July and Harry was born on 31st July but Voldemort chose Harry as Harry was a Half-Blood like him

The books really are quite excellent, and something you've noticed is that as Harry, Hermine and Ron have gotten older, the stories are darker and more adult. Because so many details have to be left out of the movie due to time restrictions, Umbridge did force students like Chen to drink a truth serum. Another excellent way to enjoy the books is to listen to them. They are available on audio book, unabridged and full length, and the reader is Jim Dale, who does a spectacular job of bringing all the characters to life.

The part where Sirius died and when all those happy memories of Hermione and Ron brought a tear to my eye when this movie first came out.

I found it amusing that they made Dudley up like a chav, as opposed to wearing a leather jacket like in the book. Hagrid's father was a normal-sized wizard, and his mother was a giantess, meaning she was about 20 meters tall. How did they have sex? Use your imagination...

Fortune teller lady wasn't wrong, Umbridge was in grave danger LOL! EDIT: "Look in my face, stare in my soul, I begin to stupify! HUAAH!" Good song, a classic from my high school days.

Don't feel bad for Snape. Never forget that he was a voluntary Deatheater (aka a nazi) before he turned spy. He also spent most of the last 4 books/movies being verbally and physically abusive to Harry and his friends, particularly Hermoine, who he berates constantly just because she's a bit of a try-hard, and Neville, to the point that Snape was his greatest fear in #3. No matter what happened in his past, it is no excuse to be cruel to children.
