I understand that's your personal experience, but I have to disagree, the reality is there is certainly plenty of bigots in Ireland, we are no different to any other country, but punishing genuine bigots is not the states intention with this bill, but rather an appeal to moral decency to mask its true purpose. The issue is it's vagueness and the scope for fast and lose interpretation of what constitutes "hate speech" and the ability of the state to bend and shape it to silence dissenting voices as it sees fit. Make no mistake, this bill, like similar bills in other EU countries is being drafted as a state tool to silence opposition to mass immigration. Mass immigration is being mandated behind the scenes through out the Euro zone for the simple reason that due to declining birth rates throughout Europe, the European economy will inevitably collapse if it does not find workers to replace it's declining workforce. Every country in the Eurozone is a domimo in the chain, so every country must comply. Small countries like Ireland that are completely reliant on the European Union for financial stability are being held completely over a barrell in a state of financial black mail. This is not some right wing white replacement theory as both the actual far right wing nuts and the Governments implementing these policies would have you believe, but a simple economic reality, being predicated on finacial greed and nothing else. Its much easier and cost effective for the people who hold real power in Europe to import a quick fix to the problem rather than addressing the real issue for declining birthrates throughout Europe which is a more educated workforce than any other time in history and an erosion of the middle class. Simply put, it is just not cost effective to provide people with the standard of living their level of education should afford them, so their solution is to kick the can down the road and import a workforce akin to the European workforce post WW2. The reality of this in a small country like Ireland with a small population at the rate we are going, is that ethnically Irish people will over the passing of time most certainly be outnumbered by other ethnicities in our own country and by extension our culture will be erroded. The danger of this hate speech bill is that it gives the state the ability to silence any opposition to this and lump any legitimate criticism under the umbrella of far right "hate speech" and cloak it's implementation under the guise of moral "correctness" and the protection of the disenfranchised, when all they're really doing is following the European playbook on how to surpress opposition to the implementation of their economic policy.

The constitution protects free speech. That is the highest law in the land. They cannot change the constitution without a referendum. They will never get a successful prosecution under this act if it becomes law.

I must say it is nice to see someone especially of Michael's experience standing up to this law. It would be nice if TD's and other Senator's within the main political parties also stood up to this instead of worrying about losing the party whip. The only place this can now be stopped in it's current form is in the seanad as I do not see Michael D blocking this (which he should when it gets to him).

Those are my feelings too only I was unsure of how to word it and I felt too intimidated to write because McDowell spoke in such an authoritative manner while being so belittling about us concerned citizens who write comments online. On the one hand he was brilliant but there were red flags and he reminded me of a big Steamroller driving over usand crushing us in to the ground. He also agreed that these laws should be brought in, that the 198? law is unfit for these times. He gave too much credence to Eileen Flynn basing her decision to vote in favour of these hate speech laws because of an unpleasant experience she had when a taxi driver refused to drive her to her home in a Halting Site. That is not an acceptable reason for her to vote to take away our right to freedom of expression and for the nightmare that these hate laws would bring if introduced. I'm glad that he's there to bring Amendments forward and he said many good things in an impressive way but I'd rather that he opposed this attack on our rights and freedom by voting against it. P.S I've been writing about the WHO Pandemic Treaty too and telling people about it and how the WHO are going to have supreme power over our country ( and others) in March '24, unless our Government opt out of the Agreement before then.

Sometimes the levels of frustration the "ordinary" citizen has to experience and/or endure is very hard to articulate or to calmly demonstrate. I have a policy of complaining and encouraging people to complain about policy decisions or badly run services. The best way to do so is to visit one's local TD's Clinics and vent clearly and resolutely, or write to them, email them , phone them and turn up at public events. If enough concerned citizens would do so, the politician will take notice. Don't take oul guff from them, the ones that are part of the government are equally responsible for every piece of legislation. It's the only way, they do have power and fear of losing a seat is a good way to get them to listen. I roast them often and if I don't get a reply, I go again. We are entitled to do so. The new "hate" law will be bad law, but the creeping authoritarian jackboot conceited "born to rule" attitude of most TD's and Senators will see it past. An industry built mainly upon litigation, adjudication and the prosecution of breaches of Civil Law/Criminal Law (ie criminal acts.. or was it criminal behaviour? Or are those terms interchangeable?) An industry set to grow, it seems. Going by the legislation passed under the gov of the 33rd Dail. We'll have more judges, more funding for legal aid, a new commission set up for deciding appointments, more funding for the DPPs Office. All very good 👍 after all, there is a backlog currently that needs clearing 🤤🤤🤤 And of course, the people have a "RIGHT" to "JUSTICE" Except that, Senator... WHAT EXACTLY does that mean, in a state where the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of the citizens are already LAW-ABIDING taxpayers? Or put another way, WHAT does "the Beast" FEED ON, when crime rates are low and there simply isn't very many (prosecutable) criminal acts occuring? An official gov report on the feasability of introducing a more automated (computer based) system that would have dealt with this backlog, but that would have resulted in LESS total appointments/positions being available in our Judicial system was rejected out of hand, with the figures for the potential savings for the State coffers BEING REDACTED 😂😂😂 AND notably, NOBODY in our Gov seems to be panicking about the current declining state of An Garda Siochana 🤔 But then again, why would you need An Garda Siochana, when most normal, decent, law abiding laypeople can be terrified into submission just by the summons letter itself arriving in the door? Naturally, most laypeople will either not contest the charge.. Or alternatively.. they will be forced to pay to hire a legal representative to contest it on their behalf, a prospect that could easily ruin the average person financially, given the fact that MOST OF IRELANDS CITIZENS are barely threading water as is.
