Cheers ViVaHD. Every time I have the pleasure of viewing the unabridged editions, I can't understand why they don't broadcast the full episode in its full glory
There was an episode just a few weeks ago where it looked like Merton barely said a word in the regular program but a completely different story in the longer cut. TBH, that's why I tend to only watch the longer cuts now.
He comes off as mostly a dim tool on YBF but I suspected he had more depth. He adapts the same brand of comedy here to much higher brow fare and it works cleverly.
Couldn't disagree more. Find him utterly unfunny as a "comedian" and his childish jokes didn't fit to the programme at all. Here's hoping we never see him again, on this programme or anywhere else.
The episode really leaned on knowing who he is and what the style references are from, which made this one of the least understandable episodes in a while.
After Mitch McConnell has spent years making me despise turtles, it’s nice that Harry Hill can come along and remind me that I actually kinda like turtles.
It's an interesting contrast how This Morning reacted to the departure of Scofield compared to how this show responded to when Angus Deaton was booted out.
Don't forget that American bathrooms don't always have baths. They call the toilet the restroom or the bathroom. And they describe bathrooms as baths, weirdly!
I feel like AI would be advanced to know that killing all humanity to make paper clips is a terrible business model, with human beings making up *at least* 80% of the customer base for paper clips.
If the instruction is "make as much money as possible making and selling paper clips" your argument would work, but if the instruction is just "make as many paper clips as possible" (and the AI has direct control of a bunch of robots) then it could end up killing all humanity. It's an extreme hypothetical trying to emphasise that computers will do what you tell them to do. Exactly what you tell them to do. Also I searched "paperclips" because I wasn't sure if it should have a space or not (both are correct but with a space seems more common) and the first result was Universal Paperclips - an idle game where you play as the AI in this scenario.
I remember there was a message board I used to frequent years ago where up popped this little mouse clicking-based game that caught on like wildfire for awhile, something about the number of times you clicked equaled paper clips being made. it went to insane lengths and like rummaging planets from alternate universes or something like that to continue the iron supply and making hundreds of trillions
!!! Much credit to Google !!! After hearing the young lady on Ian's team being introduced as (what sounded like) Zing Sing, I typed 'zing sing' into Google and it IMMEDIATELY listed the link to Zing Tsjeng's Wikipedia page at the top! Pretty good algorithms, I guess.
Good episode. Thanks. FYI to the non-Americans... We call any room with a toilet in it a "bathroom" (maybe a "half bath" if it's just a loo and a sink).
So, @Jane Ash, what do you call it when there's a toilet, a bidet and a sink? A " three-quarter bath "? Alternatively if there's no sink in there do you call it a " quarter-bath "? It's a bloody good job that I'm British and not 'posh' because where I come from we just refer to it as " the bog " and we don't call toilet paper that - we call it " bog-roll " instead.
@@beenaplumber8379 l've had a shower room plus a bathroom for years and both have toilets. House has been rented out a few times when living abroad and been advertised with that description. Edit. My sister has the same plus a bedroom Ensuite.
38:28 😂 Compare last week’s 80’s hit “Big in Japan” to this week’s “Massage in a brothel.” Washington Nationals ⚾️ : successor franchise to my hometown team, the Montreal Expos. We’re still bitter they left town. Love Jack sincerely laughing, belying his grumpy façade/persona. See also the occasional “In my pants” segments on “I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.”
The number of bathrooms is because of segregation .. separate bathroom for black maids ... it's the same in the pentagon ... segregation was common until the late 60s .
No, not really. That's true for the Pentagon because it's actually in Virginia, a state which did have segregation. Blair House is in DC proper; segregation was never law there. I'd guess the excessive number is due to other factors, such as the residents having "guest restrooms" for visitors and accommodating different bathroom preferences for international guests.
29:21 "Here he is. Or here she is. I'm not walking into that trap." first of all, missing out "they" is walking into the pitfall, and second, to use the term "trap" in relation to gender is too suspicious these days
"I bet your dog Nellie is paying attention now" and the elongated reaction from the audience was epic. Scientific proof that most people have a dirty mind - they just vary in what speed it's working at.
I expect the reason there are so many bathrooms in Blair House is it was built during segregation. The Pentagon has the same issue. But hey, what do I know? I've lived in Little Rock for 40 years....
09:05 Timberlands are crap boots. They’re cheap boots with a “brand” on them. They’re made in sweatshops in China, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam and Bangladesh. You want a real pair of boots it’s got to be something like Nick’s Boots (google them). If a pair of Timberland boots is “the best” he can afford given his PM salary, his personal wealth and his wife’s wealth he either is ignorant or not as wealthy as we think he is. Nick’s boot will outlast Timberland boots, they’re better made and a sound investment. It’s like the Terry Pratchett Sam Vimes boot theory of economics, only Sunak is the rich guy who has still picked the shitty boots.
27:00 i just hope that aliens who are cool enough to make it to earth are also cool enough not to kill us and also cool enough not to be turned away by an image of us as we are
Theres a facility where you can make a clip...its often come up when ive been trying to do something else...couldnt tell you how I did it...a youth might know. 😂😂😂
Don't get me wrong I like Harry in this capacity. *Cough* his show is terrible *Cough*... But when hes chilled out and not OTT hes funny. Still, I don't know why but I kept getting confused and thinking jack dee was the host... I seriously don't know why lol
@@louieberg2942 If you only know Frankie from his stand up, Mock The Week or New World Order, you probably think of him as a very brutal comedian but he's quite multi-faceted. His books are more subtle and his appearance in Taskmaster was rather different, but not less funny, too.
If you pause this 2 secs in then Harry's end script is displayed on Screen complete with "APPLAUSE" so he knows when to stop stop talking & pause. The result is on here as well. Good old BBC incompetence.. BEST IN THE WORLD 🙂 Thanks for these vids.
umm, no. It would be there for the same purpose as when it says "LAUGHTER" after a bit, it's simply part of the closed captioning so those hearing impaired can know all the elements that are happening in the broadcast.
Not that I'm even necessarily like super angry over the plug getting pulled on Mock The Week like I know some others are, but I am a bit curious just as to what the rationale would've been for something like HIGNFY here to keep going, given a certain overlap of material. like is HIGNFY considered more "professional" or something, given actual politicians sometimes appear? granted, MTW had a section that I way more often than not skipped over pretty much entirely (the standup challenge), no matter how much I liked the given comics participating. like you can see these peoples' proper standup routines other places, what I watch these panel shows for is their in the moment, off the cuff banter with each other.
