I added a reflective pull cord on the bug net zippers. Makes them easier to reach.

Thanks for giving us a look! Commenting as I watch the review. - For winter camping I always start the night with the pad completely full. As full as I can get it, as air compresses with cool temps. And we’re working on a pad cover to boost insulation and help keep the mid-section warm. - On the zipper pulls. There is a patent on double pull detachable zippers, owned by another hammock company. We like having the bug net detachable.. which limits us to the single pull. - Storm mode rocks. And the whole thing is waterproof. Good to guy a corner out a bit if you are worried about condensation. - The pad fold also stems from the cold air temps. Max inflate and that should resolve a lot of your questions. - Thanks for mentioning the versatility. And I’m glad you caught the vision on the integrated rainfly. Thanks for the share!

Works great for motorcycle camping. I have 2 old hand warmers, the kind with lighter fluid. I light them and put them inside. They need some airflow but as long as they have some fresh air no problem. I have had some gully washers and stayed dry, I use the tarp’s mid tie on the upwind side and that helps a bit with drafts. I like mine much more than HH.

I Love my Haven Hammock Tent!! Set up and take down is simple. The insulated matt is fantastic and the insulated cover is clutch for winter camping. I love the versatility of the system and its far and away the best sleep I get outdoors. And, as a stomach/side sleeper, this system saved my hammocking hopes. The Haven has become my go to sleep system/ shelter. I don't find the weight to be as big of an issue as I'd first thought it might be, I've put on some high mile days with it in my pack and I think the trade off to how great I sleep in it and how good I feel in the morning makes me not even think about it. Also, the listed weight includes the pad, which I'm a fan of, I've actually used it by itself when sleeping with the family on the ground. I'm looking forward to trying the XL so I can sprawl out even more. Nice review 👍

I do like mine, I haven't gotten a lot of nights in it but I shyed away from using it this winter b/c I knew I'd get CBS. There is a lot I like about it, not the least of which is how close trees can be and still get a proper hang. I had some issues with my first one and Haven sent me a new one so they stand behind their product. Nice video,, thanks for sharing your experience, it pretty closely mirrors my experience.

Thanks for your vid , it was 1st class, I was hoping to buy one, as a 70 year old with joint problems etc, but still want to get outside, I thought this might be the way to go. I was in the Military (UK), and still think I can 'rough it' but that makes no sense , you have to accept what you can't do ! Best of luck , John vb

I just purchased myself the smaller version and I havent had time to really check it out atm, however Ive watched plenty of videos at the moment and I cant wait til this fall when I get to check it out and start camping out of it.

A Mylar blanket and a bit of tape does not weigh much, it might help to tape a mylar blanket to the sides and bottom of the hammock outside, ( loose fitting to allow for movement and to create an air pocket) so that any escaping heat is reflected back, and it would also cut down the amount of cold air seeping through the fabric of the tent

Slept in my Safari XL for the first time. Very comfortable and warm… 30* night. I used a space blanket under the pad. This weekend I’m using it on the ground. Thanks for the video.

You should try the Amok. There is a learning curve, but for flat lie and spaciousness, it rocks. I bought one when they launched with the light weight version.

I also have the XL and got it in their first run of the product. I want to love it so badly, and the first one had a couple issues and they promptly replaced it for me, but as a side sleeper, the folding of the pad really breaks it for me because then all the extra space you have gets cut into nothing because you’re in a valley. I have found that adding a cheap 1.5 inch blow up pad underneath their pad helped it stay a bit flatter tho, but not perfect. My issue with inflating the pad to super firm, is that then I’m on a super firm uncomfortable pad. Haha. Anyway, I still use it in my backyard to hang out in, but am using the Warbonnet ridgerunner for camping (which has its own pros and cons)

Im going to try a foam pad with insulation on top of the Haven matress, It could help with both insolation, and the folding in the middle you mentioned - obviously, for car camping.

Most 25 min. reviews are too long. This one is a MUST! I have been wanting this system but have some doubts -it seems to good to be true. You really went into detail. I feel like I really took this out for a test. I hope the designer keeps trying to improve it b/c hammocks can suck for side sleepers. May just get this anyway -Must have a Custom underquilt made by Hammock Gear.

SO let me say ty for the review. First I love out door sleeping but I’m so picky. I have the amok hammock which can be flat but you move forward and backwards u change your head height. Second I have been wanting the Aerial A1 but can’t find one So I made one and I don’t really care for the feel of the sleep on two straps. So I just ordered this haven XL and let’s cross our fingers.

May be a good transition from ground dweller to tree hanger. Looks definitely heavy! Good for car campers.

I just got 2 of these (regular and XL). To combat the cold, I'll be laying on Reflectix. I'm also trying to figure out how to strap an under quilt to the tarp toggles.

Have had my Haven for several years. In cold weather I use Havens pad cover adds an extra R4. I'm not sure if they make the pad cover for the XL, but would be surprised if they didn't. I have no problem taking it out in the single digits below 0°

U might try using a space blanket under the pad. Roll some gorilla tape around a pen, use what u need to hold in place. Give u a few more degrees

Thanks for the honest review. I enjoy extreme cold winter camping here in Canada and I would be interested if this could handle -25c plus temps which I don’t think it will. If I could throw my thermarest x-therm in there I would consider it but based on your other review, it looks like using a different pad affects it’s performance for space and comfort. Will continue to watch this brand as it evolves. Thanks again!

Haven will replace that pad free as they have a newer better one because they have had complaints about it.

I've used this paddle board camping, so no issue with the weight (I actually bring a small cooler on my 12'6" paddle board as I've got a lot of real estate and weight capacity) or the size. I'm going to be doing some camping with my son this year and am curious your opinion between this and the Banyan Bridge. I wanted the BB and it wasn't available at the time so I went with the Haven XL. I think to get all you need with the BB there's more cost, but am curious about comfort. Any opinions you have are greatly appreciated.

I really don't like to use sleeping pads in my hammock, so if I can't use an underquilt, it would be a no go for me for this otherwise fantastic looking hammock. If it is possible-will there be a problem when it rains with an underquilt? Because the fix installed tarp seems to be very close to the hammock, so I am concerned that a rain shower could soak the underquilt.

Looks pretty good , could you use a zlite under to boost the R value ? Few niggles sorted would be cracking setup

So what is the solution for side sleepers? Did you reach out to the inventor regarding pad not maintaining flat shape? Can a second pad be used to add stiffness and more bottom insulation or this tent was not designed to accommodate two pads?

You don't need the bug net in winter....also a thremarest z lite pad under the airpad would be warmer.

Had the Haven for over a year and I really wanted to love it. I've spend probably over 45 nights in all conditions. PROS: - Option for going to ground - Easy to dial in set up. - Sturdy material CONS: - Weight CONS below 40F: - No way around cold butt with stock "insulated pad" - Condensation builds up on the side walls if you side sleep. I replaced the sleeping pad with an X therm Max (R6.9) and was using a Hammock Gear 10° top quilt. Because of the design of the upsidedown rainbow zipper drafts are a big issue. Agree with Spiguyver on who this is for. It has now become my wife's fair weather setup. It's perfect for her because she'll never go camping below 60° and since she is smaller she can fit our small dog in there with here and not worry about him falling out. I wanted to love the Haven because the shoulder squeeze and neck stiffness on a traditional hammock suck. The Haven solved these issues but replaced them with other issues. If your looking for a flat lay hammock do yourself a favor and pull the trigger on a WB Ridgerunner or DW Banyon Bridge. You'll sleep so much warmer (with underquilt) and the shoulder and neck thing non existent.

What if you put a foam pad under the air pad?

Im trying to figure out how to get my woman to go camp with me. I don't have car camping equipment. I have all cottage hammock equipment and she will not sleep out like that but that might give her the enclosed feeling that i think she needs to feel comfortable

How is it as far as being in the colder elements? A buddy and myself are looking at them for a colorado elk hunt in September. And I know up on the mountains it can get pretty cool at nights. Any info is appreciated.

Dude, to throw shade on the haven pad because you’re sleeping in 19° weather is just totally wrong. The pad (R4) is not designed for 19° weather. So you need to caveat that when you’re talking about the pad when you’re trying to slag on the pad. I have used that pad down to about 28° and it’s been just fine but I don’t think I would go lower than that. That’s why, now, Haven has developed an insulated cover for the pad also.

The wrapping inside the sleeping bag likely added no discernible benefit as any insulation you were lying on is compressed beyond the provision of any warmth/utility. You needed a better sleeping pad, period.

For $1.25 at the Dollar and a Quarter AND UP store, he could have bought one of those shiny wndshield screens that would have kept his butt warm even if it was wet. You can even cut a glory hole in it to pee, make it your girlfriend, or just pee on the Skipper when Maryann isn't looking. Up ta here in Alaska, I just stitch one long side to a second $1.25 insulated windscreen. I'm thing, maybe I should pack 4 causn theyre ligbt and compact. Might even buy ones for the 8 kids and wife outn here sinct I lost my job as a rocket scientist. Dern democrats.
