I'm from Idaho. Tree spiking shut down logging jobs and injured loggers. These are poor families living in very rural areas with limited jobs. She should be in prison for attempted murder.
I'm in Houston now, but I grew up in Orofino and used to do timber thinning up that way. An article I read on this subject said the spiking occurred in the Clearwater National Forest.
Tree spiking is an awful practice, but I'm surprised there aren't measures taken to assess trees for spiking *before* they're logged. I'm equally surprised if those measures do exist but aren't followed.

I don’t like politicians for who they are, but instead go by the actions they take and the job they do. Senator Hawley always is on point and is a great example of how to represent your constituents.
In the early eighties I shared a hospital room with a 17-year-old kid who was working at a sawmill. The saw hit a tree spike and broke into a thousand pieces. He had multiple operations to get all the shrapnel out of his body. He was in the hospital for 10 days after I had left.
She did not lie. Perhaps you people should pay more attention to the actual content of Hawley's rambling. She said she was never investigated, arrested or charged and she wasn't. Neither does Hawley show otherwise.

If she'd come out 3 years ago and said all this then, fine... but the fact remains, she was investigated, she "omitted" it and now she is getting called out on it. I don’t know that you will ever see this, Senator. But I am an Army Veteran who served 12 years as a Combat Engineer. I did combat tours to Iraq for a total of 28 months, 2005-2007. I am 100% VA service connected, and have friends who died as HEROES in Iraq. And I wanted to say Thank You for standing in defense of our Constitution! It keeps folks like me from having to defend the Constitution in the Only Way we know how…and I don’t think anyone wants that! This We’ll Defend! Sappers In The Breach!
