Dude they are definitely underrated and a lot of folks are missing out on them that don't know about them. But they got a beer named after them now that's pretty fucking epic if you ask me.
@Doodoo Swaggy no shit! Really? Awsome I lived in Wilmington and played in bands there from 98-03. Thenscene was my buddy Jay and fig from faith collapsing, hary and dave from after forever then dave collins formed weedeater.kevin and mike from betrayer.i was doing everything metal then funk then rock i knew just about everyone in the scene then Damn it was fun i miss it. But I remember they were pulling in about the time I was pulling out of Wilma-the-ton! They are def one of the best from there so glad to hear they r still rocking out! Thnx 4 the 411🤘
He is legend and Maylene inspired me so much in high school to start a southern hardcore band, I love their old stuff but this song and album grew with me too
Been listening to He is Legend since I was 12 back in 2002 watching them play up and down the east coast. I was a Carolina native in my younger days. Saw them with sevendust at the house of blues, one of my fondest memories. I was getting tossed around the mosh pit like. 110 lb paper weight by all the older metal dudes! I’d get thrown to the floor and everyone would help me up just to keep moshing! Highlight of my musical journey!
I've known of He is Legend for about 5years now. I was just listening to my my RU-vid mix and reading the comments. Yours caught my attention though. About a year ago I started to listen to Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. That guys voice totally reminded me of Schuylar's. Well I was reading that both bands are friends with each other and in 2009-10 Schuylar actually filled in for Dallas Taylor while he was taking care of personal issues. You should check them out if you haven't already. They are extremely underrated like HiL.
Ever since I Am Hollywood. Saw them when I lived in Savannah ga before I moved back to sc when the suck out the poison album came out and one of the best live shows I've ever been to
When you leave, and you will When the going gets tough And you turn tail and run We're aware that you're scared But uncertainty's always nine tenths of the fun Stay with me, I'm begging you Don't do this on your own Stay with me, I'm not a fool Not just for anyone Every time you return With fresh meat in your teeth And a spark in your eye Does it burn, burn for me I have never been strong enough to be released Stay with me, I'm begging you Don't do this on your own Stay with me, I'm not a fool Not just for anyone Stay with me I'm…
Zach Johnston they like being a “smaller” band. They rarely do headliner tours. They prefer to open for bigger bands playing bigger shows to gain more fans. Rather than have a headline tour playing small venues.
@@markymark7608 Same, but they are even better now! They went all-in on catchy "third eye blind" melodies and southern grit which works. My favorite album will always be "It hates you," and I have yet to hear a band that matches that sound. I thought they mentioned they would breakup if the album wasn't a success, which it wasn't, and I am surprised and happy they are still making music 10 years after the fact. It is a shame they can't break the barrier and I have no idea why. NC folk love southern music and country which has seeped into genres to include hip-hop/rap and pop, but somehow this Southern rock Titan-of-a-band has escaped everyone. It is a shame. If He is Legend is reading this, I am incredibly impressed with your fortitude and commitment. I chalked yall up as a loss in 2009 but 11 years later I am still enjoying your new releases. Thank You
I'm at least 3 generations deep when it comes to family lineage in NC... and I can definitively say... these boys make me proud to be from NC. I can smell the air every time I watch this.
probably one of the best songs I've ever heard and please hope this band never breaks up. so much talent. hope to catch them at a show here in Kansas City someday
Not sure of the band’s meaning of this track - But for me, it’s a conversation between the person you are now and the person you want to be. I put this on when I’m about to try something that seems impossible - this year, it was staring down a 25 foot snowboard jump at Mt. Hood - this track got me so f’n pumped. 👊👊
I love this song, and video! Anyone else still religiously listening to It hates you? Funny story, my profile picture was taken, right after I got done watching HIL side stage. Good times.
We fortunately had the opportunity to open for them at the recent St. Louis show, they’re live sound even in a small club is incredible. Very underrated band!
Ryan Mills Totally agree. First time I saw them live was when they supported Atreyu in 2005. Didn’t see them again until this year when they played at the Fleece in Bristol, such a small and intimate venue but they smashed it.
Donald L. I'm about to turn 26 and I too have been listening to HIL since I was 13. I've actually been working on an art collection based on their album covers!
Been listening to y'all since high school ('04) and I want to say I'm glad y'all keep rocking on. Schuylar! You're my spirit animal, man! Much love to everyone from Texas
I'm with them since "Suck out the Poison". Don't know how many times I've listened to those songs. Absolutely love them! Great music, great song! RIP McKenzie Bell
Never Heard of you guys before , But after Randomly Finding this and listening to other Songs ... You got a new Fan ... Love the Music .. I'm gonna go buy Some Music on Amazon now .... 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Check all their albums. Love all of it, here's my list. It Hates You, Suck out the poison, Heavy Fruit, Few (Still learning), then 91025. Give it time to grow on you and you'll always come back to their music.
Unlike darkest hour, it seems like the lineup change has been rough. I know he is legend has there original guitarist ( always the song writer in most cases). Anywayz, I was at the Nashville show that was part of the "attack of the dungeon witch" video, I'm in it". And as a long time fan, I feel for He Is Legend & Maylene for not getting the recognition they deserve! Forever live hardcore & metal ( whatever scene you subscribe too, lolz ) keep it real kids!
Yo we chatted back in 2006 outside of a venue in Boise. I think the fairytale stuff was awesome and the vocals added to it. It's pretty strange that your Wiki starts with It Hates You. I still have my Uriah Omen record. Much love and your bassist is still hot as hell and Dinner with a Gypsy has the best bass line.
No matter how many times I listen to any of their songs past their album "I am Hollywood" just sounds.....okay to me. I love that album and I honestly think its their best work and always will be.
This band should be way more popular...it should be a crime against humanity that they're not as big as some of these lesser, and unoriginal bands we get..
I discovered these guys when they opened for killswitch engage at the house of blues for the end of heart ache tour. Chimaera played before them and too this day I remember them and have been a fan since then.
