After having watched Japan play the USA in the Olympic baseball gold medal game, the name Tyler Austin is now permanently on my radar. It might've just been my imagination, but every time he made contact, it looked like the ball went 400 feet. The dude has power for days, and I don't know why he couldn't hack it in AAA, but he clearly enjoys hitting Japanese pitching, and I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the next Balentien.
I remember when a foreign player who just signed with the Hanhwa Eagles said he is gonna hit 60HR I think but proceded to become the worst player ever to play for them
happens a lot with the Canadian Football League too. NFL has beens come up here and think they will beat entire teams by themselves. Meanwhile you can count the "name" NFL players who had success in Canada on one hand. It's a different game and if you don't adjust, you won't succeed. Just like Japanese pro ball.
This is the content I've been waiting for! I literally saw someone on Twitter once say Jabari Blash would hit 70 HR's in 1 year. Like, I'd wish! But just.......... no. lol
@@yakyutvenglish5055 Damn the whole gang's here. Marc is a bit of a clown yes, and his hot takes are legendarily bad, but his enegetic personality and simplistic view of the game for newbies is probably why his following got as large as it did. I'd still jump at the opportunity to work with him should he offer, maybe just kinda give him a rundown on the history of the league in a podcast style thing.
I think its a combination of the shitstorm those incidents caused plus the fact that he'd retired as manager. That and the fact Oh said he wanted his record to be beaten convincingly, and Balentien was the only one in a position to do that.
@@GaijinBaseball That could be but also it migiht be because didn't he break the record with like 20 games left in the season? You can't intentionally walk a guy for 80 straight PAs!!! In Bass' case it was 2 games, not sure about the others.
Hey John, would love to jump on the podcast some time in the future, but the fact that I don't live alone atm makes setting up a time when I could jump on a call with y'all and talk shop pretty hard. I'm definitely down to do so sometime in the future tho, I'll keep you posted.
I think NPB is way underrated. It’s not easy. Im not ready to go out on a limb and say it’s MLB level over all. But per capita? Sure. I will. Their talent spread way thin across 2 leagues with a much smaller talent pool from which to draw. If their were as many Japanese players as Americans, Latin and Canadian players they would steam roll everyone.
