This poor guy doesn't deserve this. He was just a happy fun-loving man who wanted to have fun watching cartoons and we lied to him. We told him RWBY was nice and light. We did this. We took a man who was full of life, and turned him into a Gh0xt. Are we the baddies?

Hello everyone we are gathered here today to watch Ghoxt slow transformation into a Grimm due to RWBY's ability to rip emotions apart... The scenes between Ren and Nora, Yang and Ruby. And finally Penny pleading with Ruby to end her suffering all hit so hard. I cry every time. Also I love the touch they do with Ozpin when he talks to them. He taps his finger as a calming mechanism. He feels like he doesn't deserve forgiveness. And this is the first time he is putting himself out there fully in a long time. He is asking them to accept him. The man who kept everyone at arms length because of the trauma he spent literal lifetimes (centuries) enduring alone.. that made him jaded and untrusting. He is on the path to becoming what the others always thought he was. A good man who wants to help. A man who believes in mankind. A man who will do whatever it takes to stop Salem from achieving her goals. Trust is a risk. And it's one trauma makes hard to give freely. But you have to make that risk or else you are alone in the world. What an amazing message. Thanks for coming to this TedTalk / eulogy for Ghoxt.

Episode 10: Watts completely eviscerating Cinder is one of the best moments of this series. Cinder really has just been beating her head into a brick wall and expecting something different. Bout time someone was like “you’re an idiot. Playing harder not smarter.” Dragging Emerald through the consequences of her actions. The scene in Ironwood’s office makes me so tense. Like, I’m so concerned for Winter. Once Harriet snitches on her, she looks like a scared kid. Like she’s back under her father’s thumb. She’s shaking. Wholesome Bees are wholesome. I have to give it to the animation, the lighting, the cinematography, the voice acting for Ironwood’s ultimatum. So masterful. Hats off. Episode 11: An episode full of catharsis. The range of responses from the Ace Ops before Ironwood confirms that he is indeed serious is something else. Ranging from denial to complete apathy. The Renora confrontation/confession scene is so good. And how they handle Nora not being ready and needing to figure things out is so good! God, seeing Yang and Ruby finally get a moment to really break down, and with each other, I love it so much. Also, the implications of what possibly happened to Summer is… god. Having that be the possible answer to what happened to their mom… geez. The voice acting from both Barb and Lindsey kills me. Tsundere Emerald is best Emerald. Who’s ready for the last three episodes of V8! Eh? Anybody?
@binchlipusfukaroniiandchee464
Ever notice how Cinder is only ever understanding or willing to listen when she's alone with someone? It has to be a private conversation where she feels safe or else that facade/mask just overpowers her thoughts like she's skipping a step in the thinking process. She can't even consider things seriously without knowing that she's not being listened to or tracked. Alone with Watts, she took criticism, showed restraint and realized her foolish mistakes. Alone with the guy from the flashback, she found the determination to power-through the pain for a better future and formed a friendship. Alone with Emerald she was scared to be brought back after failing. I hope they'll save her at some point.

In Ironwood's defence, they have no idea how long it'll take Salem to be back on her feet and start blasting Atlas apart. The rest of the volume takes place over the next two hours or so. There's no way short of literal magic portals to evacuate Mantle in that time and if Salem comes back before then, those people aren't actually saved from anything.

The funniest thing about Watts' monologue is that he's guilty of the same kind of arrogance and entitlement as Cinder. The reason he joined Salem is because he felt Ironwood choosing Pietro's work over his was a personal insult and a slight to his pride. I think an interesting thing to note about their relationship is that he is the very picture of what Cinder hated in her youth - an arrogant, Atlesian elite, much like the Madame. And likewise, Watts' is implied to know about Cinder's history as an abused slave and orphan - probably the last person in the world that Watts believes is worthy of the position she has. Certainly partly explains their volatile relationship. I think it's really sweet that Yang is now arguing for the merits of Ruby's plan, even though it seems to have not paid off, when before she was all too hasty to put it down and not believe in it at all.
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain Год назад
Indeed. Ironically, Watts ended up helping Cinder more than harming her with that rant. When you consider the Volume in its entirety, who *_really_* won as a result of this conversation? When we see when Cinder first threatens Watts' life, he believes that he is untouchable because he has Salem's support, but when Cinder points out that Salem isn't here to protect him and thus Cinder can do whatever she wants with him (which shows how much of a damn Cinder really gives about anything Salem says), Watts becomes genuinely fearful for his life. It is only when he accepts that he is probably going to die that he lets out all his frustrations at Cinder, and honestly, that rant he gave was *_the single best thing_* Watts could've possibly done for Cinder. Although he had intended to hurt her and get in the final word before he died, Watts instead actually ended up helping Cinder more in the long term. If you've seen the last two chapters of Volume 8 yet, you'll know what I mean. It took great strength for Cinder not to just kill him outright, which shows that Cinder can accept that she was wrong and take steps to better herself going forward, which is exactly what Salem failed to do in her backstory and is continually failing to do her entire millennia-long life, which is the difference between Cinder and Salem's characters. As you said, the funniest thing about Watts' monologue is that he's guilty of the same kind of arrogance and entitlement that he's accusing Cinder of, and the entire reason he joined Salem was that he felt Ironwood choosing Pietro's work over his was a personal insult and a slight to his pride. So although Watts made some points in his speech, he was a hypocrite. Besides, for all his talk about how *_"suffering isn't enough,"_* what he calls "suffering", at least his version of it, is absolutely *_NOTHING_* when compared to Cinder's. It's just like: so your hard work got passed over in favour of someone else's? Sure, I'd be pissed too if I were you. But don't you dare try and put that on the same level as the suffering endured by Cinder, as they aren't even in the same league - far from it. Although it doesn't *_justify_* her actions, Cinder ironically has the probably most *_understandable_* reasons for being the way she is and doing what she does out of all the villains. As Ghost said, Cinder is probably the most tragic character in the series (which is fitting, given that Cinder is the main villain). Also, Watts' statement that Cinder *_"couldn't"_* take Ironwood's top fighter and war-machine (Winter and Penny), is also incorrect. As we saw in the Volume 7 finale, before they took the battle outside, Cinder handily outmatched them in combat both separately and simultaneously without using her Maiden powers, dealing the two of them multiple blows while they in turn couldn't even land a single hit on her. And lets not forget how Cinder completely messed Winter up by the end of the battle. Additionally, Cinder's deal with Raven Branwen was, all things considered, a better plan than Salem's in the long run, and would've worked were it not for the fact that no one (not Salem nor Watts) knew that Raven was the Spring Maiden, not Vernal. The only thing Watts was right about in his rant was the fact that Cinder has become much too hasty and reckless in her plans since her injury back at Beacon. Especially when compared to how Cinder was in the first 3 Volumes, Cinder has seemingly lost much of the calm, calculating mindset that focused her rage; Cinder's unexpected loss to Ruby in her moment of triumph shattered that mindset and now her rage is wild and uncontrolled. If Cinder is able to reevaluate herself and regain control of her emotions to become more like the mastermind she was in Volumes 1 to 3, imagine what she'd be capable of.

Ironwood is a tragic character , though after threatening mantle with the bomb he no longer had a redemption left. Like oz said ,it’s what we do when we are afraid that matters. In ironwoods case he let it become his paranoia, and single minded goal to escape . This show just keeps getting heavier but in light of that when must remain hopeful. Like Sam from lord of the rings says “ there’s some good in this world mr.Frodo and it’s worth fighting for.” So don’t lose hope my dude we will continue fighting for a brighter tomorrow

I love that you mentioned that quote from LotR, because it's such a personally significant monologue to me, and the entire speech sums up this show incredibly well, ESPECIALLY in regards to volumes 3 and 8. "And sometimes you didn't even want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened?" Sometimes it feels like Monty and CRWBY set out to write one of those great stories, and by god, have they pulled it off so far.

2:10 gesundheit! 17:18 Aww, Blake covering her sensitive ears from that racket 21:48 Even Winter thought he was bluffing, despite knowing first hand the depths Ironwood has already delved. 35:50 Jaune struggled for so long to find that semblance, and has been invaluable using it since. But look at him now, being the incredible, unique person able to solve this almost absurd problem. By boosting Penny's aura, reinforcing her soul. It's a rather rare moment where he uses his semblance not just as a conduit for somebody else to do things, but all on his own. Of course, such is the nature of his power, but it's still an important one IMO. 37:32 Yeah don't worry, it's a lot to take in and deal with. As you noted, you can't trust like... anything. It's emotionally expensive. 39:00 GOD I LOVE RUBY THINKING I think here is a good time to explain it, in case others haven't already. Quite sure RT had told us on twitter or something by this point in the show: Ironwood's semblance is Mettle. It doesn't seem to be an active thing he does, nor quite a passive like Qrow and Clover, but a trigger. He sets a goal, and his semblance grants him the single-minded resolve to see it through. He is unshakable from his quest, no action is beneath him or beyond taking as long as he sees a path to completing his mission. Also of course he's based on the tin man, who has no heart. Because for James, having a heart comes in the way of what he must do. I love to hate him, such a good villain because you can *understand* the monster he is. He's trying to save Atlas, at the cost of everything, under the glimmer of hope that everything just might be enough. Oh and we're coming up on something for which RT decided to place a trigger warning at the beginning of the chapter. This you might want to not read, considering how well your mind spins yarns off of this show. Your choice, just saying so you know it's there and you can make the choice yourself. I don't disagree with them putting one of those, just that people like myself make instant inferences off of small spoilers.

3:53 I love how even Watts seems more concerned with the potential loss of all their allies when Monstra was destroyed than Cinder was. It shows that Cinder truly doesn't care for anyone other than herself, even her closest subordinates who have devoted their lives to her. We see when Cinder first threatens Watts' life, he believes that he is untouchable because he has Salem's support, but when Cinder points out that Salem isn't here to protect him and thus Cinder can do whatever she wants with him (which shows how much of a damn Cinder really gives about anything Salem says), Watts becomes genuinely fearful for his life. I disagree with Cinder being reckless. I thought she seemed arrogant. Ever since she became the Fall Maiden, CInder gave me the impression that all she had to do was effectively turn up and she'll get what she wanted. Despite her numerous losses, she seemed to still have that mindset, which I found infuriating. Watts understandably had enough and called her out on it.
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain Год назад
@@bluejays25 I think "numerous" is rather overstating it when it comes to Cinder's failures. Loads of people like to harp on about Cinder's "many" failures, but what they fail to realise is that by the time of at least Volume 10, Cinder has suffered a grand total of merely 3 failures. *_ONLY THREE._* That's hardly any. Besides, those few failures mean nothing in the face of Cinder's success/accomplishments, which are far greater and more numerous than those of any other villain in the franchise. Watts can't even call his mad rant to Cinder a win, not really. As I said, not only was Watts a total hypocrite, but that speech was the best possible thing he could have done to help Cinder, as it gave her the wake-up call she needed to realise the errors in her current manner, and work to reevaluate herself to become an even greater villain, similar to how she was within the first 3 Volumes. In the end, Watts ended up dying having unwittingly done the bidding of his hated rival, who puppeteered him as she does everyone else in order to get what she wanted, before killing him off to get rid of that loose end. Before that rant, Cinder had indeed been more reckless in her plans since the Silver Eyes crippled her at Beacon. While Cinder did a masterful job at manipulating Neo in Volume 6 and then everyone again in Volume 7, Cinder's plans tended to be slightly more hasty and less thoroughly thought-out than her plans during and before Volume 3. For example, when Cinder threatens to kill Watts, she tells him that her plan after killing him is to simply burn a path to the Vault and wait for Penny there so she can tear her apart and take the powers. That's not to say that Cinder wouldn't have succeeded, she was more than capable of doing so, but it was a far less thought-out plan than her usual trademark schemes. That was because Cinder's rage was wild an uncontrolled, motivating her to act quicker and leaving less time to think things through to the fullest, as opposed to when she had her rage controlled and focused, enabling to act with a clearer head back when she was the cold, calculating manipulator in the first 3 Volumes. But now, thanks to an unwitting Watts, Cinder has reined in her emotions back under control, and has returned to that cold, calculating mindset that she had used to strike fear into the entire world during her Volume 3 speech. So much that she was able to come up with a brilliant, well-thought-out plan (in less than an hour) that enabled her to outplay everyone once again, allies and enemies alike, and prove Salem wrong: This game is not Salem's to win, it is and always has been the main villain, Cinder's, to win.

From the comments I have read on this topic, I don’t believe there are any individuals that truly agree with every step of Ironwood’s methods up to this point and beyond. It is mainly the people who agreed with Ironwood’s original plans don’t agree with RWBY’s methods/ideology and would prefer to defend Ironwood until they can’t. Once his actions reached a point of being indefensible, the ones that don’t switch to RWBY’s side say that the writers ruined Ironwood’s character and made him into a unpredictable cartoon villain to fit their narrative. The people that say they agree truly don’t and are just looking to piss off someone, and it looks like they got you. I enjoyed the edit by the way.

Ah Chapter 10 the episode the solidified IronWood as my number one character in the whole show. Why? Because you could see this coming form the moment he was introduced. I don't know if you'll ever do re-watches in your spare time Ghost. But what IronWood did in this episode you could see coming form a mile away. As this was the man that brought his army to Vale despite the protest's form Ozpin and Qrow. Taking over the security of Vale form Ozpin by going behind his back. Witch allowed Cinder to pull an order 66, closing the boarders, dust embargo, striping Mantle of supplies they needed to fight Grimm, witch is why Robin was on his case in the first place. He had good intentions when he did the things he wanted Vale to be safe, he wanted to build a new communications tower, but as the saying goes. The highway to hell is paved with good intentions. And he's a walking example of that. For all the good he wanted to do he ended up hurting more then helping. But his heart was in the right place. Not anymore. Now he's a tin man with no heart.

It's almost as if those actions were the beginning of Salem's plan to invade Atlas. She created the spark she needed to push Ironwood to become the man she needed him to be. One thing that I like about this show are the small details that makes Salem incredibly scary. She understands human nature more than Ozpin and is able to push Humanity in the direction she needs them to go for her to win. I mean she brought Ruby to tears by using one sentence.

@@gamimaniacsl603 Right!! Salem way more clever than people want to give her credit for. Like you said she brought Ruby to tears by one sentence, played IronWood like a fiddle, Lionheart to. Witch is why I never got the complaint of her just sitting in a throne. Why do stuff yourself when you can trick people into doing it for you. I don't remember were but I heard this quote. "A true villain isn't someone who can hit the hardest or shout the loudest, a true villain is someone who can bring empires to there knees, tear friendships apart, with the simple pull of an invisible string." And that's Salem to a T

What I think is the craziest part of this episode (11) is looking at what Ironwood would’ve shot other people over. Like, he’s already shot the councilman and almost Marrow for speaking up, and both Jaune and Nora (maybe Ruby too) said things in vol. 7 that definitely would’ve got them shot in 8. With the power of his weapon, it’s literally just that they got him on the right side of lost it that they survived. You can even see him contemplating infanticide in those scenes.

I love how Ironwood becomes more evil here. There is no defending him, however we saw his tendencies shifting this way more and more since last season out of fear. Looking forward to seeing if you survive this finale. Something about what I just wrote sounds wrong, however even after all this time, I am still suffering some emotional damage from watching even a reaction to these episodes, so you’ll have to forgive me. Ruby proving once again how smart she is. Just like with the Penny vs Pyrrha fight, she took all the information she learned about her mother, silver eyes, and Salem, and then put them all together on her own. I don’t think Yang had made the connection to Summer yet, she was probably thinking “this could happen to Ruby if Salem captures her”. Speaking of, that’s one more thing we have to worry about, what Salem will do to Ruby if she gets the chance to. As for Ironwood, at this point most of his stans chalk up his actions to “bad writing”. However, Ironwood has long established a precedent where he makes sure he gets his way regardless of what anyone else tried to do to stop him. It goes all the way back to Volume 2 where Ozpin tried to temper his response and Ironwood responded by reporting him to Vale Council behind his back. Then there was the countless decisions he made using his military powers while using his two seats to deadlock the Atlas Council’s attempts to keep him in check. Declaring martial law was just the natural next step for him to continue the precedent of doing things his way no matter what anyone tried to do to stop him. That’s not even touching on his deteriorating mental health, his growing paranoia, and his loss of perspective as he continually denounced all viewpoints different to his.
@KitsyX
@KitsyX Год назад
Yeah, I expected Ironwood to go bad since he first appeared... He seemed to be overprotective, sure of his own methods and militaristic... Even if he hade good intent, I expected him to get twisted somehow and turn into some type of tyrant... He's not as bad in volume 3, but in volume 4 you start seeing him unshaved and everything... You can see it's getting to him... Maybe he'd overcome it, but it was most certainly on the cards... They even paint him as somewhat traumatised in volume 7... There is some parts of the show that could be written better, but the whole Ironwood thing worked out pretty well, I think... Even if I'm sad that it happened.

It was really establishing that they love each other but giving Nora the opportunity she needs to put the work in on herself and Ren will happily love and respect that boundary until she's ready (tbh as much progress as he's made he probably needs to put more work in on his own shit too) and UGH. 0:11 - Whoa! Calm down, young man. That level of excitement is a bit much for your viewers. 🤪 1:26 - There was some confusion about this on my last commentary. You thought it was Raven. I thought you were off your meds. Someone thought *I* thought it was Raven. I thought they were off their meds too, so I didn't reply. 😉 1:38 - "Get out there and capture and imprison my allies. And if anyone dares search for any of the REAL villains or tries to talk sense into me, I will shoot them." Thanks, James. 2:14 - Awfully presumptive of you to think we'd bless you. Maybe some of us are irritated at you making silly noises during highly dramatic moments! (But bless you, anyway. 😉) 5:46 - It would take some absolutely INCREDIBLE writing to give Cinder a redemptive arc we could by into. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it IS improbable. 8:18 - As you've said before, the writing in this show is amazing, and Watts has always been a smart guy. It's entirely possible that he was able to wedge some reality into Cinder's near-impregnable wall of perpetual rage. 8:37 - Man, that update was FAST! Who's your ISP? 😆 9:38 - Hold up, Yang. You lost that arm to Adam and his narcistic obsessions. A more accurate line would have been, "She's part of the reason Haven and Haven Academy are still disaster zones." [/my 2 cents] 10:29 - Y'know, they could cheat with the stored kinetic energy. If it's just the cane absorbing it with every impact, then hit a few walls or boulders with it out of frustration. (Disturbed RWBY fandom runs off to write a scene with Team RWBY spanking one another with the cane. It receives over one billion views. "50 Shades of RWBY" is soon made into a very bad movie. 🤣) If it has to be absorbed through the person holding it, they could just punch Oscar in the arm REALLY HARD and say, "Make sure Ozpin knows that was for him." 😁 10:40 - I sitting here and thinking, "Emerald has every opportunity to run right now. With her Semblance, which she says she's been working on, she could make herself invisible and cheese it." But she doesn't. I think this speaks volumes to her change in character. 11:34 - Reminiscent of London during the Blitz. 14:22 - Yes, very heroic of you James. Leveraging the lives of her friends definitely says, "I'm the good guy." 15:47 - Ayup. 16:19 - But you should. 17:03 - Nope, I was wrong. You shouldn't. 19:00 - Wait, there are people who have DEFENDED Ironwood? He's been steadily getting more villainous with every episode, and someone's out there, "But he's just trying to..." To what?!? TO WHAT?!? And then you repeat his plan, Ghost. Be abandoned or blown up. Because those are the actions of a hero?!? (Just the thought of it is giving me cancer!) 🤬🤬🤬 23:19 - "The goodest of boys." Look, just because he wags his tail when he's happy... 🤣 23:40 - "And I know y'all do too." Ummm... Ghost? We've seen the show. We don't need to see through it. We've already seen it through. 😉 24:53 - Honestly, Ruby's breakdown in this chapter was gut-wrenching. Her attitude has always been, "We'll make it better." Her seemingly giving up was heartbreaking. 27:20 - Ladies and gentlemen, the Editing Master at work! 😂❤🤣 29:28 - More relationships need this kind of communicating, even if it hurts. Because it starts a healing path that can eventually be completed down the line together. ❤(As an added bonus, Ghost has been booped out of his chair.) 33:57 - You may not have caught this, Ghost, but I certainly did, especially because I've lived this frame of mind. Yang differentiates between her "mom" and her "mother." Her mother was little more than an incubator that gave her life. Her mom was the person who gave her everything else. Love, compassion, a home to live in instead of just a house. HUGE difference between the two. 37:13 - Ghost, split-second moments like this one make me worried. Everyone, me included, has been trying to forewarn you about this volume's intensity. If you're "dead inside" now, we're going to have to hold a funeral after the end credit scene rolls on Chapter 14. 😟 39:29 - Our ongoing hints about the emotional rollercoaster this volume is have skirted the realm of spoilers. It's going to be amazing, intense, and confusing. And when you come out the other side, know that you'll be exactly where we are now. That said, my bigger fear is what's going on at Rooster Teeth. They've been hemorrhaging animators, with rumors of it being an oppressive workplace. We all know Volume 9 is on the way, but I fear for the show's future beyond that. 😢

From what I heard, likely the reason that they are letting the animators go is because the contracts have run out and they aren't ready to greenlight anything else while they are finishing up the rest of volume 9 and the Justice League crossover movies. They likely won't be greenlighting the next volume until they finish those up... Assuming they aren't shut down by their owners or something... It may mean a big change in the animation team though, which could be bad or good... Maybe if volume 9 and the movies do well, maybe they'll get a bigger budget and be able to treat the staff better... Hard to be sure... To be fair, I expect that most animation companies and the like are probably not a whole lot better... Although they might be better managed >_

@@KitsyX I hope there's some truth to what you're saying, but what I saw was discouraging. It's implied that it's an oppressive workplace. COVID may have played a big part in the pressure to produce Volume 9, as we're all aware of the delay, but I think it would be completely unfair to take that out on the animators. We can only go by the limited information given in various articles. There's always more to the story, but getting every detail out there for everyone to read might take an entire book's worth of writing. I just hope we're not left with an eternal cliffhanger at the end of Volume 9. Shows that are summarily canceled and left unresolved grind my gears.

This is a comment I made about Ironwood years ago. I hope you see it, because it helps ALOT. (Ironwood has a semblance, they bring it up in a podcast, but they never mention it in the show. So technically not a spoiler. Sad, because it makes everything he does make sense. Ironwood's semblance is called Mettle Allows user to strengthen their resolve which allows them to carry through with his decisions, helping them hyper-focus. This can not be turned off, and makes the user overreact. When he is calm and there is no fighting going on, Ironwood's semblance is in a neutral state. As soon as a challenge appears and he sets a goal, Mettle will do anything in its power to make it happen. This is why Atlas closed all borders, why he lead an army to Vale when they needed to be more subtle with meetings, why he sided with the council instead of his friend Oz. Every decision he makes, ALWAYS remember what is the "Challenge" and what is the "Goal". It also scales with the "Level" of the challenge.) Does this excuse everything he has done? No, but I see it more as a mental sickness taking control at the WORST time.

I’m sure people have already mentioned it, but Ironwood’s semblance is known as’Mettle’. Essentially it’s tunnel vision. He’s really, really good at achieving whatever one goal he focuses on but is then motivated to completely disregard EVERY other matter. Mantle isn’t what he’s focused on (arguably not even Atlas is). He’s focused on beating Salem, so legitimately everything else is expendable to him. I feel like that’s where his defenders come from, that he’s like forced to be single-minded. \_(,”)_/

I found out his semblance after that V8 and it changed my perspective on his character. To me it made things more clear and almost sympathetic towards him. Ironwood at heart is a good man but Salem was able to manipulate him into a Tyrant. I know it's not confirmed that Salem knew what his semblance was but seeing how she is very good at pushing humanity in the direction she needs him to go, it just him falling victim to her grand plan. Salem knew what she needed to do to push him. She is starting by creating a paranoia back in V3 when she had her minions take control of his robots followed by being able to infiltrate and take control of Mantle. Lastly her showing up at his doorstep with a massive force and not attacking immediately. She let here force stand there and scare him a bit longer allowing his paranoia to push even further.

You seemed a little confused about the whale exploding though I think you figured it out. That was from Oscar using Ozpin's stored power to blow up the whale and scatted Salem into pieces that would take a while to reform. Unfortunately, it also killed Hazel as he sacrificed himself by holding Salem down so she would be forced to take the blast. I'm betting you caught this in post. You also seemed a bit confused about the Summer Rose thing at first, but you didn't say anything after the talk because of the Penny thing, so not sure if you figured out what was going on there or not. He doesn't care about the people, he only cares about his control and authority over Atlas. And it doesn't stop there - remember, as far back as Volume 2, he betrays Ozpin and tries to get him fired because Oz wouldn't obey him. He's ALWAYS been a psycho control freak, it just became more obvious in Volumes 7-8.

I abdolutly love Watts' Rant about Cinder
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain Год назад
The funniest thing about Watts' monologue is that he's guilty of the same kind of arrogance and entitlement that he's accusing Cinder of. The entire reason he joined Salem was that he felt Ironwood choosing Pietro's work over his was a personal insult and a slight to his pride.

The moment that Ironwood permanently crossed into the point of no return. I get why he has to do it, and logically, he isn't wrong. Without a Mantle, they have no reason to not follow his plan. it's playing high-stakes chess, knowing that the wrong move is gonna cost everything. I would also like to take the time to say goodbye to Chair-kun. To have survived so much, yet to have it all end this way...Taken too soon from us. See you next Friday!

I love that when the emergency CCT message alarm went off, Blake cov3r3d her cat ears from the noise. Also in Ironwood's speech about things he wanted to protect, he never mentions people. Military, Tech, future, sure, but not the citizens. While I'm not an IW Stan, I can see the steps that led him down this path. To me, he's another tragic char that's been worn down over and over again and has just decided that his might is right. One man can't be responsible for this much. I like how much Ironwood doesn't consider Penny autonomous for a while now. The "I assure you, Penny is completely under my control" or "General IW says I don't have time for friends". I think it calls attention to Pietro's reasoning for making Penny ("a protector with a soul") and Ironwood's funding for making Penny ("Atlas has been studying Aura from a more technological standpoint"), and it's interesting to think about. ouo

FYI I watched this Volume 3 times now, and for the longest time, I thought that Ozpin put his magic in the cane. Now I thought that was a stupid thing to do at the time, but I just accepted it. After hearing from Oscar that all of energy from fighting that he has done over centuries is stored in there makes a whole lot more sense. Which also means that I wonder if anyone can use the cane since it just builds up energy. I think the writers could get very creative with the cane's usage if they so please.

9:38 "She is part of the reason I have this". No Yang. The ONLY reason you lost your arm was because you let your anger blind you and rushed into a fight. Yes, you rushed in to protect your partner, but it was entirely your fault that you lost your arm. I've needed to get that short rant off of my chest for a while
@KitsyX

It's arguably not as bad as when Blake set fire to her parent's house though lol. Seriously though, while it is certainly at least partly down to Yang making a poor choice, most people aren't as dangerous as Adam and she couldn't know that he'd cut through her aura... There's lots of potential blame to go around... Blake for not finding a way to take him out before leaving maybe... For not warning her friends about him in advance... For fighting alone (partly Weiss's fault for not staying with her)... For letting on to Adam that she cared about Yang maybe... Adam for attacking her lol. And yeah... A lot of this wouldn't be a factor if Cinder and crew hadn't set the whole thing up... Emerald is part of the reason, even if only arguably a small part.

19:30 Ironwood did a lot of good in early volumes. Tried his best to work with Ozpin (while keeping his own values), gave Yang a new arm and defended Weiss in vol4, and accepted them into Atlas, upgrading their gear, informing them of the plan, and christened them Huntsmen. This volume however, he TURNED. The community is relatively divided on whether it was done well or not, but i don’t see a whole lot of people trying to defend him here. There’s a bit more on this, but it’s late Volume 8 stuff. Despite anything, however, love your content Gh0st. You might be late to the party, but you’re far funnier than you have any right to be.

I very much appreciate you showing the flashing light warning so that anyone watching doesn't get caught off-guard. Yeah, Ironwood's gone off the deep end. He's also been failing in all aspects of his job these last volume and a half. You've forgotten that RT likes to show something happen and then explain how and why it happened later on. I can understand how she got to this point as well. She had a seriously messed up life. However, that doesn't excuse her actions. She killed the only person who reached out to her to try to help her. She chose to do that, she wasn't forced to do it. A person has the ability to decide if They're going to let their upbringing control them or if they're going to control their life after they become an adult. The RL courts don't consider a horrible upbringing as an excuse for illegal actions. Cinder made her choice to not follow the option that was given to her for a better life. She must suffer the consequences for her decisions. Honestly, Harriet. Use that brain of yours for a moment. Actually, all of you try using what that stuff is in your skull. If you didn't destroy the whale, then who did? Oh, wait. The only people who went into the whale were those whom you let go. So, they must have been the ones who destroyed it for you. Yay the good guys! Had she not let them go, you'd all have been overrun by the grimm. Yeah, he lost it last volume. Volume 5 Ruby: "Yeah! Team RWBY is back together!" I think that was volume 5 when she said that. Maybe it was 6. Emperor Palpatine. Or Vader. Either/or would fit this scene. lol I'm with you about Ironwood. He's a genocidal maniac. By putting it out there on that broadcast, he's showing everyone his true colors. Including his troops. This could very well cause a civil war. You know that many of Atlas' troops are from Mantle. You know they wouldn't sit by and let him destroy it. What a fool. And the Harriet, Vine, and Elm are just as foolish. We can already see dissension in the ranks. Multiply that by thousands of troops turning on him. Idiot. Yep. I'm with you. I saw her actions as saving him also. We told you that this volume would push your limits. lol My hat's off to RT. Well done drawing out these emotions from your viewers. From rage to tears. Well done RT. You notice that Yang considers Summer to be her real mom? Not Raven. Go Ruby! Volume 3: "I have a plan." Weiss: "You always do." Keep up the great reaction and edits. You're almost caught up.

(Writing a 2nd comment cuz sometimes my phone will cut long comments short reeee) I love that Ren's whole work ethic overload came after being granted a huntsman license. I like to think of it as this grand imagining he had when he lost his parents as a kid. "No, I saw the beast. We need a huntsman." As if one huntsman could take down the Nucklavee. That one could save his whole town. And with every failure, he just thought he needed to do better by working harder, maybe even concealing his emotions (not with his semblance) included, but he couldn't. And just, like...yeah man. I'll watch more on my next break lol Thanks for always making my lunch breaks fun

Here's the justification, and explanation for what Ironwood is doing: Ironwood's goal is to protect the staff from Salem. He isn't trying to save Atlas or the people, because, if Ironwood and the kingdom can't protect their relic, how can any other kingdom possibly? The answer is, they can't. He knows this, obviously, so he is doing absolutely whatever is necessary to protect the staff, because if Salem gets it, everyone dies. Him destroying Mantle is a very logical decision for protecting the staff. Of course it's not really morally right, but it essentially guarantees his victory. If he destroys Mantle, team RWBY will, of course, hate him, but they will still work with Ironwood if they have any amount of intelligence, because their is no longer any reason not to work with him, other than thinking he's evil maybe, but still not as bad as Salem, since his goal is to protect. If they work with him and he uses the staff to life Atlas high into the atmosphere, there is absolutely nothing Salem can do to get there, meaning Salem can't win. Also another thing, Ironwood is a victim to his semblance, he can't control it, and it is why his decisions never account for morality. He plans to sacrifice thousands, because his semblance essentially turns him into a psychopath when the situation is dire. blaming him for any of his decisions is essentially the equivalent of blaming Qrow for something unlucky happening. Ironwood is in the wrong, but he is right and has made, logically, a flawless plan With him blowing up the ships, I'm not certain about this part, but I think it was probably so that he wouldn't lose his last remaining leverage, I think it's to speed up his plan, because he knows Salem won't stay dead for long, and he needs to enact his plan before she's back, which is why he only gives Penny and team RWBY one hour to respond to his ultimatum. I'd love to debate a bit with anybody that disagrees, but please keep it civil, I'm tired of being berated by insults for my opinions, and this is one I'm sure most people disagree with.

Big ironwood supporter here. I think most, if not everyone, who liked iron wood in the first 7 volumes hates what they’ve done to him in volume 8. This is such a huge character assassination and the reason they give for it is his semblance. Whenever i watch the whole series back i still love watching how good ironwood is to the children acting like a strict but caring father figure and seeing all the good he tries to do but volume 8 just isnt him. Ironwood died when he shot that counsel member in episode 1. Still support him just not in this volume.
