I found your channel 6 months ago and am now binging from the start. As a retired ME I'm very impressed with all that you've been able to accomplish in a home garage setting but LOL at the spark plug debacle. Been there many times myself. Nice that you guys show the good and bad!

I can't believe this project doesn't have more views! This is way better quality content than most car RU-vidrs out there! No sponsor this spondsor that. Just pure great content with DIY fabrication.

First a lathe, then a mill, and now a homemade flow bench. It just keeps getting better. It would be instructive to retest the head after the valve job.

Aviator heads are such a good choice for this combo. Less port volume than a navigator but betterport shape and they flow more. Plus the bigger exhaust port will work great with the extra cubes

If you guys ever do this again you should try and make an in-line 6 Honda k series , or even a b series . I always wished Honda would have added two extra cylinders to the f20 in the s2000 . Just an idea , someone’s gotta do it . The k series head flows unreal .

Groundbreaking or parts breaking, it doesn't matter as you guys are stepping up and doing something I don't think anyone ever took seriously the way you are approaching this. With access to a decent lathe and mill there isn't much a person can't do if they are willing to do the hard work.

You guys should get these scanned and so they can be put into solid works. That way crappy aluminum welders like me can 3d print em and cast em because I've been wanted to do this for ages. I have 8 aviator heads and 3 v10 blocks just sitting around. I diced up one pair and that came out how you'd expect. I have a forge and could easily cast them since i do a lot of that.Would ve super awesome. I've even played wirh the idea of getting a billet flatplane crank cnc'd and cams to match. I'm working on the math for all that at the moment.

Super cool build, something I always wanted to do BUT! That said, the amount of time and machine work I would just go with stuffing a viper motor in it if I wanted a v10 lol. Again cool build and rare.
@greenflavoredstuff

Plus money. I can source a 360hp 3v v10 for $260 at my local junkyard.
@Prestiged_peck
@Prestiged_peck Год назад
@@greenflavoredstuff this will sound wilder than a regular v10. The 4v heads will just make it different from a 2v/3v v10 sound. But the big issue is that the stock split pin crank is gonna have a hard time holding the power and RPM this motor will want. And if they decide to address that then we'll likely end up with a viper style common pin crank that will make it sound a lot more like a viper.
@AK_Ray
@AK_Ray Год назад
@@Prestiged_peck never once have I heard of anyone breaking one of these cranks, including supercharged guys pulling 15k. It was a big to do among keyboard warriors when these first came out because the split pin. Never came to fruition.
@Prestiged_peck
@Prestiged_peck Год назад
@AK Ray it's not a power issue it's an rpm issue. Rev any crank high enough and it will fail due to minor imbalances that become major due to the speed, or more likely simple resonance due to the crankshaft's design

Normally you would get the engine running first, then try to make improvements. That way you have a baseline, and you won't have any potential issues that you caused yourself. David Vizard has a porting program that will help guide you and goes way beyond flow numbers.
@_..-.._..-.._
@_..-.._..-.._ Год назад
Also, it’s easy to compute what the engine would make “stock” with 4 valve heads. I would say the 5.4 32 valve engine HP x 1.25 would get you close for a baseline. The 3 valve made 365, so I’d guess it would be in the 400-425hp range with stock ports and cams and would rev okay, but not much above 6k. There’s a ton of improvement possible with cam selection, I would guess 700hp is easily possible with big cams and the porting they did.
