My God, what a phenomenal composition this is. How on Earth do you write music like this? Jimmy Page is an absolute genius. The music of the mighty Led Zeppelin will be played until the end of mankind. Ann, Nancy, and the entire band did a great job here
It is said that George Harrison told Bonzo at a party that Zeppelin is a good band but they don't have any ballads. Jimmy overheard and got butthurt by the comment and went home and created this tune.
Some times thoughts come from another world, another place, another time….. Jimmy and Robert blessed us with their thoughts. We are forever grateful and (personally) changed by them. As I face my own limited time on this earth, I will forever be grateful and brought to emotion by their words and music. Some happy, some sad, but still brought there 🙏🙏❤️💙
It is the springtime of my loving The second season I am to know You are the sunlight in my growing So little warmth I've felt before It isn't hard to feel me glowing I watched the fire that grew so low, oh It is the summer of my smiles Flee from me, keepers of the gloom Speak to me only with your eyes It is to you I give this tune Ain't so hard to recognize, oh These things are clear to all from time to time, ooh Oh, oh Oh, oh Oh Talk talk, talk, talk Hey, I felt the coldness of my winter I never thought it would ever go I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us, 'pon us But I know that I love you so Oh, but I know That I love you so These are the seasons of emotion And like the wind, they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion I see the torch We all must hold This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient Upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall Just a little rain, oh Ooh, yeah-yeah-yeah Sumber: LyricFind
Jason Bennett yes, lol - they have always been my fav as well. You would think they had written most of these Zeppelin songs. No disrespect to Heart, but look up "going to California " covered by Amy Lee of evanescence.
I couldnt just click like. I agree with you fully Jason. The ladies are getting on in life but hell Anne has an amazing rock voice and they both still as beautiful as always.
My sister died this March, at 63. We played this song at her memorial. Her entire house was decorated in a middle eastern motif that was inspired by her love of Zep's Kashmir. In going through her things in preparation to sell her house, we found a photo album dedicated entirely to Robert Plant.
Yes they were but unlike Zeplin they didn't appreciate all the musicians in the band and behave like spoiled feminist who want to promote the women are great agenda.
I saw them in Vancouver Wa at a very little bar when I was 15 or so years old. They were playing Zeppelin songs, and playing them very well. The bar was called the Red Caboose, I heard them from the outside and after listening as long as circumstances allowed I went through the door like I was suppose to be there they were ground level on a make shift corner in an entry way. I was face to face with Nancy then I went out the other exit before they could boot me out.
I saw them come a third encore in 1977 in Atlanta at the Georgia Jam. I thought they were done and was walking toward concession when I heard how strong Ann's voice was on Rock-n-Roll by Zeppelin. They stole the show at the Georgia Jam in Atlanta in 1977. The energy they have is electrifying! Led Zeppelin love's how well Heart does Led Zeppelin!
Nancy Wilson has said The Rain Song is her favorite Led Zeppelin song. "This is one of the most melodically sophisticated songs in the history of rock‘n’roll and also one of the most beautiful pieces of written poetry ever. It’s such an insightful meditation on life through the seasons, and it balances poetry and rock ‘n’ roll perfectly in a way that no-one but Led Zeppelin has ever been able to do. Zeppelin were one of the bands that saved my life in high school. There’s a real magical mystery to this song. Every good guitar player that I’ve ever been at a party with knows how to play this song, but every one of them plays it differently, everyone had their own interpretation. Only Jimmy truly knows I guess."
I was skeptical at first. I didnt want to be disappointed, but, The first strum Nancy does and I'm like ...I'm stayin right here. Anne, you made me cry, thank you.
John Paul Jones of Led Zep played with and produced these gals for some time. Anne and Nancy are the shit. The real deal. I saw Led Zeppelin when I was a young punk . Long Beach Arena 1975. These women really do them justice, besides being just plain baddass singer song writer performers themselves.
Gotta mention my favorite cover. The Battle of Evermore. Heart does many and they do them well but THE best, in my humble opinion is The Battle of Evermore. Shivers down my spine...
I'd always wanted to have a time machine solely for this. If they weren't able to do it in the 70's, can't they do it now? I'd take it even if it is a mellow song, it just has to happen. 😭
how can there only be a little over 121000 views for the masterpiece. where have all the sane people gone. I guess this country is in deep trouble with all the fruits out there now. good luck America we are doomed.
"The Rain Song" is undoubtedly in the top five of my "...the only song you could listen to - deserted island" question. Hard to pick from so many songs I deeply adore. But it's steadfastly holding its ground at the top of the list. So I'm very leery when someone (even Heart) takes the risk of either revering the majesty, or bombing completely - I can't see much middle ground with this one. But there's just nothing at all to complain about, and everything to appreciate in this performance. Grandly done.
With Zeppelin no longer around there is no other way I'd rather see/hear this song performed live than with Ann at the mic. Such an incredibly beautiful song.
I was there! Great bands that night, too... Tom Waits, Queens of Stoneage, Heart, plus more, and it was CSN&Y's final performance (with all four). I was 23 and drove out there from Sacramento to see it. I was arriving while this song was being played. 🌉✌️
I saw Ann a couple of years ago and she still has it. She is amazing and her band was incredible...So much talent! The Rain Song is a work of art. Jimmy Page wrote something that is very beautiful and melodic. From the very first upstrum it fills me with emotion. I am learning how to play it and just love all the special parts to it. .

Love is like the four seasons. At first it's fresh like Spring. Then the attraction is hot 🔥 like Summer. But Fall like leaves and tears hit the ground. Then in the end it's so cold like Winter leaving one lonely. Maybe
This song is beautiful, just gorgeous. Page's musical composition is phenomenonal, while Robert's magical lyrics invoke the spirit and mood of the seasons. They don't write music like this any more
Same here. Didnt want to be disappointed. After all how many take on vocals of the great Robert Plant and Jimmy on guitar? My most beloved Uncle & Friend gave me a Walkman lol & said this is the most beautiful song you'll ever hear. At the time I was in HS and my musical taste didnt reach far from the hip hop of 2PaC but my secret musical taste fell along with The Steve Miller Band & Marvin Gaye. Indeed he was right. Hes no longer with us so for a long time even the 1st strings were too much for my soul but in time souls heal or something like that...for you we ❤ Marty
Next to the timeless LZ, these ladies are amazing. I remember when this song was released in 1973. Brings back so many memories of my high school years.
If anyone has ever been to Pilok, in Thong Pha Phum district in Kanchanaburi (border of Thailand and Myanmar)...this is THE song. The Rain Song so beautiful.
Ann kicks ass and takes names. So does Nancy. And Howard. They were heavy influences on musicians and you can hear it today, across many genres. In many ways they stepped in and took over when Zepplin crashed. Heart, Rush, and Queen were the only thing that wasn't driven strictly by MTV during the 80's.Ann got big-with lungs made from high-strength leather, just like Aretha Franklin, and at her very best, the Idiots shut them down, and we wound up with the whole horrible hair-metal thing. With skinny guys TRYING TO SOUND LIKE HEART. It took Kurt Kobain to shut it off, and the 90's wave of decent, killer rock radio came from bands that grew up watching them live on their home turf in the 70's when they were kids. Heart is easily as important in the scheme of things as Zepplin, the Who, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton,Allman Bros-and they are often overlooked and taken for granted. Glad they stuck to their guns, and didn't cave in, and sell out. They will always be significant, much like Rush-they didn't give in, either.
Each new movement of music rises because the one ascendant grew stale. Hell, Aeromith, one of my favorite bands had to reinvent themselves a few times. Listen to One Way Street, then listen to Love on an Elevator, than Nine Lives. Each are wildly different. Not many groups do that successfully. Led Zeppelin themselves changed over time.
OMG, the keyboard's a harmonium - old school - terrific ! She sings pretty good, too...love all the blissed-out youngsters at the back. Scant reward for a life of pain but something at least...
And to still have it at 63. Ann Wilson is in the top three greatest female rock singers in my opinion: Ann, Grace Slick and Linda Ronstadt. I can't, to this day, say which is #1. Before you say it, Janis Joplin is great too, but her voice is not great, she's a screamer, like Sammy Hagar.
There's a lot of very good Zep cover bands , but in my opinion , Great White does the best job. And you nailed what makes a great Zep cover band. 100% The singer. If you haven't already, check out Great Whites " Get the lead Out " live album.
Tears every time especially with Ann singing this amazing tune, could be my all time favorite between the lyrics, melody, emotion and harmony. Well done, bravo!
Goosebumps... Music producers won't allow musicians to make music like this any more. A six minute song? How long of an out-tro does it have? Where's the chorus? Where's the bridge? There's no structure to this thing... and yet, when you allow artists to be masters of their craft like they used to, a song like this can be made and give me goosebumps... Most of the time, I'd say duplicating Led Zeppelin is an act of sacrilege, but if you are Ann and Nancy Wilson... you can give me goosebumps any time.
@@LoneLee2022 150 shows???? who was your favorite?? ❤🎶❤ i saw Traffic one time in IN... that was a good one... and oh... The Black Crowes opening for ZZ back in like 1991 and that was REALLY COOL... but if youre gonna tell me you saw Zeppelin... then wow.... id be speechless from here on out
@@kimberlydavis571 Van Halen 5-9-80 I saw Zeppelin at Live Aid one of the best days of my life. I saw Plant on his 1st solo tour with Phil Collins on drums.
@@LoneLee2022 THAT IS SO VERY COOL!!! i loved "Ship of Fools"... and remember listening to it when i got to see the ocean for the first time back in 1988... undoubtedly memorable, for real... but WOWWW... i wasnt even aware that Phil Collins and he performed together... apparently i need to do a little homework👍😜
Heart does amazing covers of LZ. Best one IMO is the unbelievable performance of STH at the Kennedy Center (honoring ZEP of course). Guaranteed chills. A masterpiece. Even brought Plant to tears.
How delicate, the only female good enough to sing enough with Robert Plant,& chick to play guitar ( if Jimmy wasn't available) though Nancy is at Jimmys level) BEAUTIFUL RENDITION LADIES! 🌷🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I want to go back in time and get up on that stage with Nancy Wilson, stand right in front of her and cut off that goddamn piece of scarf that keeps falling onto the strings of her guitar! Or she is using it to dampen the sustain. which at that point I would have been promptly pummeled by security and arrested for attempted murder. I think I will not go back in time. Awesome song.
They brought out tears of rain, from Robert Plant himself. At the Kennedy Center Honors, playing Stairway to Heaven to him, Page and John Paul Jones. I have never ever seen Robert cry, it took Heart to bring out the tears from Robert Plant's ❤️ HEART. (Its on youtube)
