Absolutely true. What a shame..!

Im 22 now, me and my mum have been watching this series over and over the last 10 years, its still the show we put on when we get together!

GamersUnitedDK Yeah, its a great family drama, and I had it on series record so that we could watch it later. Unfortunately, ITV3 + 1 are not showing it anymore, and the earlier showing on ITV3 just keeps breaking up when I try to record. So, it looks like we will have to trawl through the multitude of "rubbish" on all the other channels, to try to find similar "quality" drama from yesteryear.

I used to watch this show with my grandma and since she passed, I've been watching the re-runs whenever I can. I'm 24 and I've gotten mocked for it by my peers but I love the setting, the pace, the plot, characters, everything.

Haha, thank you. They're not all that old though really. In saying that, this series was 15 years ago now!

Yeah, and to think ITV pulled the plug on this great family drama just to keep miserable shows like Emmerdale on the screens.

My favourite Sgt was Merton played by Duncan Bell. He seemed to have a more human touch than all the others. I was sad to see him leave in 2004, he is sadly missed, along with the late Geofffrey Hughes who played Vernon Skripps, and Peter Benson who played Bernie Skripps. Also Bill Maynard who played Claude Greengrass. These kind of shows are just not made anymore, which is really sad. Something that the whole family could sit down and enjoy. Drama, nostalgic music, and a bit of humour thrown in, all with "Likeable" characters such as Alf Ventress, played by William Symons. I only wish ITV had done a 70's version of the show, with early 70's songs playing in the background. But the "Sweeney" and the later "Life on Mars" killed off that concept. Only "Minder" starring the late George Cole, came close to this "Classic Drama" I hate Emmerdale, this is tv at its vindictive Chavviest best. This is one of the shows ITV threw loads of money at and killed off "Heartbeat" and other family shows such as "Where the heart is" and "The Royal" and it was voted one of the "Best Soap Awards" It just shows how tv has gone on a downward spiral over the years.

Yeah, we are watching them on ITV3 weeknights and really enjoy this good old drama set in 60's Britain. Its a shame that ITV pulled the plug on this show. All we have these days are mindless reality shows, and miserable soaps. Mark Jordan who played Bellamy is now in Emmerdale, and Jon Kerrigan who played Rob Walker was in Casualty for a while, but we don't see much of him anymore. Such a shame, he is a great actor.

Cheers. I have been watching some of the old ones on Dailymotion site. Most are fine but I don't like the ones with the music changed (for copywrite reasons). For instance Red herring episode in series 4. When they are looking for school kids around the cliff tops Sloop John B really sets the atmosphere of the scene but on dvd Version and Dailymotion that is absent and the music in Heartbeat help set the mood.
