Heat Pilot Won't Light 

Thank you 🙏🏽 I have an old jalopy just like this and I cleaned the coupler with a steal brush and the pilot light of white dusty buildup. The furnace fired right up. Thanks for walking me through this at 1am on a 33 degree night.

I have a Tappan natural gas furncae with a manual light pilot with no clogs easy to blow through and thermocouple is clean but not lighting since gas company put new gas line in from road to house. Gas man said he couldn't light it. I pulled both parts out and they are clean. Could the valve just become bad or can they clog or is there a gas pressure issue? The gas stove works fine. I test a new pilot and thermocouple same result.

Soap and water for leak testing might be a better way then a lighter

Thanks for the video. I was trying to solve my own problem here in NYC. I have a Weil McNail CGA Gold boiler and its not working. The boiler is making a clicking noise with two red lights blinking in the electric module. Do you know what might the reason be? Thanks again!

A few years ago, my pilot light would not stay lit. So the guy I called decided to replace the thermocouple. It still wouldn't stay lit. Then he replaced that thing that's about the size of a Rubik's Cube, in your video it's around 5 inches above the burners, I think it's called a gas control and costs around $200. The pilot light still would not stay lit. Then he did something, and it worked ok after that. I'm wondering if all he did was just clean the pilot light with his fingers, and maybe I didn't need a new thermocouple or a gas control, just a simple cleaning of the pilot light. Or maybe he bent the thermocouple closer to the pilot light. Separate question, my boiler is close to the door, around 3 feet to the left of it. Is it possible that if the door closes quickly, it generates a gust of wind that could blow out the pilot light?

Try using a set of easy-outs to remove the pilot orifice in the future.

looks like the homeowner was trying to light the thermocouple wire instead of the pilot, going by how blackened the copper was below the nut lol

Had an old gear gas valve on boiler gas smell call used bubbles on all the pilot lines blk. pipe ftgs. nothing broke out lighter gas valve leaking at top of 40 year old gas valve v-800 time.

A good way to clean pilots is with a can of compressed air.

My pilot won’t stay lit. Soon as I leave the knob go it goes out. I have replaced the thermocouple I tried two new ones. I even replaced the valve and still pilot won’t stay lit. It’s the 36c03-333 valve old valve not a new like smart one. I don’t get it, think the pilot hole could be the culprit. I mean honestly what else is there?? As long as you have a pilot on the thermocouple that pilot should stay lit once knob is released right??
