my favorite quote on Hell, "It was particularly characteristic of Staretz Silouan to pray for the dead suffering in the hell of separation from God’, writes Fr Sophrony, and he goes on to recall an exchange that he overheard between the Starets and a somewhat dour hermit: I remember a conversation between him and a certain hermit, who declared with evident satisfaction, ‘God will punish all atheists. They will burn in everlasting fire.’ Obviously upset, The Staretz said: ‘Tell me, supposing you went to paradise and there looked down and saw somebody burning in hell-fire - would you feel happy?’ ‘It can’t be helped. It would be their own fault,’ said the hermit. The Staretz answered him with a sorrowful countenance: ‘Love could not bear that,’ he said. ‘We must pray for all’." - Saint Sophrony Sakharov of Essex

Many thanks to the father for sharing this truth with people. I was raised a Jehovah's witness. And their rejection of the Trinity of God put me off of Christianity, (unbeknownst to me it wasn't even real Christianity) and for 10 years, i rejected the existence of God. And it was merely a year ago that the holy Spirit rebuked me, and showed me the way the truth, and the life, I'm working on my catechism and hopefully will be baptized soon. praise be to God, may he bless everyone in this comments section, 🙏

Im not orthodox, but let me tell you, this view of heaven and hell is so refreshing to me having grown up with a vindictive version of it. The toll its taken on me mentally sadly affects me to this day. I found myself (still do, sometimes) spiraling into a mental haze wondering if God really loves me or if he'll damn me to hell at a moments notice, but this view of hell as gods love being poured out is very comforting. Thank you for sharing, and if I could receive some prayer support for this, I would greatly appreciate it ❤️

0:11 Heaven and Hell have been misused in English 0:26 Hell is a place of torment. 0:34 And Heaven has different connotations too. 0:37 Be careful what the original word is before translating into Heaven and Hell 0:52 Christ spoke about this, go back to Christ Himself. 1:04 Parable of Lazarus and The Rich Man 1:45 Be careful not to take things too literally. 2:00 The Parable of The Last Judgement - Some go to Heaven - Some go to Torment 2:25 Hell It is a place of difficulty and definitely torment. 2:37 Heaven is a joyful, full experience of God in ways we cannot comprehend 2:50 Torment is the experience of The Love of God perhaps as the people reject them. 3:03 “When people reject God, that will lead them to pain and sorrow even though The Love of God will be poured on them. And those who Love God and receive the Love of God , which is poured on them,will will have joy.” 3:27 “When [saints] try to describe this, they use human words and human descriptions like fire 🔥 this and the other thing. Because those are the things that give us pain. And that’s how we experience difficulty. But think of it in a spiritual way. And perhaps think of God giving joy. And the Love of God giving pain to those who hate Him and reject Him.”

When the person dies , is it true that there will be demons or evils trying to snatch the soul to hell regardless of how holy is that person
@Trisagionfilms
@Trisagionfilms 3 года назад
We have various reports of certain visions and experiences described over time by different people, but usually no demons coming after the people who have lived holy lives. On the contrary, people who have lived holy lives report that they have seen Christ Himself in the last moments of their lives on earth opening His arms to receive them and have also seen angels accompanying Christ offering them consolation. We belong to Him, not to the demons and He comes for us personally to comfort and encourage us to leave behind this broken world. That's why we need to stay close to Christ. That's why we need to surrender our lives to Him. Then the demons will lose every right over us, when we belong to Him!!!

@@CarmelZJ Nowhere in the Bible supports that demons can take us to hell and torment us. That was a pagan belief adopted from Greek mythology In reality the only one who has the power over the soul is God himself “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28

What does it mean "people reject God"? Did God appear to them or manifested Himself in their lives in any way and they rejected Him or what? If God allows unbearable suffering in your life, how can you love Him with your heart and soul? How can you believe that He loves you more than you love yourself?

God manifests Himself in everyone's lives but some are too blinded by their ego to see God's blessings. Read the book of Job in the Old Testament to answer your question on how can we love God despite our suffering.

Neville Goddard was correct about Imagination being God in man, outside churches are made with hands for sons of man (first adam) looking and waiting for what's in them Luke 17:20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, w)hen the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (second Adam) wakes in you not seen by Saul looking outside before he became Paul who woke inside himself. Typical theology is with nothing new under the sun that's repeated. You just don't know who you are yet.

The love of God will feel like fire! Reread the Gospel passage where Jesus describes it. The Rich Man is perishing from heat and Lazarus is in the bosom of Abraham. If you’re a Western Christian like many of us were it may take some time to understand. But it is STRAIGHT from the mouth of God himself. Those who repent and obey and have participated in the life of God given to us in the church will experience God as love and those who have rejected Him and hate Him (look around the USA that number is growing by the day) those people will experience the love of God as torment just as the rich man in the parable does. When God returns He will fill all things. There’s only one God. Hope this helps.

In one sense, the sense that is most relevant to explaining damnation, it's impossible to be without God. God's love, His creative energies, and all pervasive and constantly being poured out upon the creation. The torment that the priest spoke of results from one's will being aligned contrary to God while not being able to escape the outpouring of God's love.

Since the Orthodox Church claims to be the apostolic faith, I would ask which of the apostles taught that sinners in Hell experience the love of God, and which apostle taught that there may be joy in Hell? Not even the example Fr. Panayiotis gave from Luke 16 supports these notions.
@amandalee8139
@amandalee8139 Год назад
I believe you are missing part of it. It is not that there are two different places of Heaven and Hell. All people go to the same place, the presence of God. The difference is the way each person perceives the power and love of God. An evil person will be tormented by the presence of God and experience it like Hell. A good person who wants to be with God will experience the love and power of God as bliss and Heaven. Try reading "The Great Divorce" by C.S. Lewis. You can also listen to it on RU-vid.

I'll explain it Heaven you do the same thing you've done on Earth some Farm crops and Fields some people like working businesses and they continue doing these stuff throughout the time in heaven and there's many other types some read books all day like the greatest minds are in the greatest Library learning stuff for when Jesus returns hell is where you get tortured and is the place of prison it's like jail so when you go to hell you're in a prison cell and the amount of pain you receive will dictate on what you have done so if you kill someone you get killed repeatedly and it could get even more dangerous than that dots on your level four there's 12 levels to hell and the after level 7 you cannot Return To Heaven or be reincarnated you shall stay there for internity the tortured for internity it does not matter if you pray for the person what he has done or she will be counted against them praying does not matter for God or giving money to church. Does not count what counts is what you do in life if you help your friends or family members or if you're nice to the person next to you that's what counts but if you loved seeing people tortured you will be tortured 12 level is where Satan or the devil is and he personally gets the torture you. To go to heaven you do not have to pray you don't even have to go to church one day all you have to do is be good and be kind to people and not steal which hurts people if someone tells you kill for me and you get to go to heaven remember you are going to be going to hell cuz that counts towards you and the person who ordered it so if a nice guy say kill for me everyone you killed will be accounted towards them because they gave the order. Satan is the chief of police God controls heaven and crater controls everything. And yes I have been to Heaven and Hell and back I'm able to go between Heaven and Hell and now I'm also protected by God.

Shoel in Hebrew means the grave. Hades in Greek is a parralel word also meaning the grave. You are dead and buried awaiting the resurrection that cannot take place until the return of Jesus. The word hell comes from the word Gehenna. In the bible Gehenna is also known as tophet, Ben Hinnon and the valley of Hinnon. Babies were sacrificed to idols here. In Jesus time it was a garbage tip where rubbish was burnt. When Jesus returns disobedient people will be burned here, never to exist again. The fire will continually burn. The Kingdom will be on this earth. I love you all and I hope I have not offended anyone. Steve jack petro
